How much does remodeling a shower cost? Can you do it yourself? The answer - less than you’d think, and absolutely! It’s been no secret that bathrooms and kitchens sell houses. What are the dimensions? Height etc?
Hi! rough dimensions are 48" tall, 40" wide, and 6 foot long. Thanks for checking out the build!
$1,820.00.
Great job, I really want my contractor shower redone. Thanks for sharing!! 💚
You can clearly see big gap between lower and upper backer board,
That grout finish is killing me
@@juankarlosgomez6068 RIP bro
What IS a mini split? I don't know. Is it a/c and or have a heater/ TY
Hi there! A mini-split is essentially a miniature version of your standard HVAC. But uses a ductless system instead of a traditional duct-base system. Thanks for checking out the video!
A contractor cost is why I can't get this shower. I am not a DIY person. This helped and I MAY try and find a cost effective person or small co. Labor is gonna mess me up, since I have to get others. I'm elderly and a walk in is good for me, I've already had a major fall and it's an issue. THANK you for this it is an eye opener 👁👁✌🏼✌🏼
Looks awesome! Most of these smokers (yours included) have a small fan on the bottom of the hopper to pull air from below and feed the burner. It looks like you sat the bottom of the hopper tight to the concrete, which basically blocks the airflow. Did you modify this afterwards from the end result shown in the video to pick it up off the concrete?
why didn't you show the edge band install at the bottom on the wall and the base tray?
show the details parts at normal speed and maybe highlight those areas, the shower border do you need thin set on the end, it could be tight
I AM SO GLAD I FOUND YOUR CHANNEL!!!!! Love this content! LOVE LOVE LOVE!
Thanks so much! Really appreciate that =]
Nice product. Music is way too loud and annoying though.
@@jransum thanks! Yeah, this is definitely an older video before I really learned how to edit sound better - I’d definitely invite you to check out a more recent video and see if the improvements are noticeable !
@@donnygrahambuilds I will for sure
Add two more flower boxes. Everything looks great though!!
Appreciate the recommendation, but this was client build. They only wanted the 1 big box. Thanks for checking out the video!
Great video and best review one could hope for! I recently bought plans for the glenn lounge chair. I would probably make one from cheap pine first before using expensive wood :D hopefully that should build some confidence. I am planning to make a bed as well (queen size) but using inspiration from thuma bed with castle joints. I am planning to use ikea metal central support beam along with their slats instead of making it out of wood. My experience with wood support beams has been mixed at max. The curved nature of ikea slats and metal support beam is tried and tested! Thanks again!
Thanks man! Appreciate you checking out the video, happy to know it’s adding some value for others 👍🏽
Boss, real boss!
Thanks!
I am going to take a stab and making this in a twin... wish me luck!
Nice! Good luck man - full send 💪🏽🍻
Idk has answered your question about how or when what stage of development is the shower surround installed, but it’s installed not long after interior walls are framed up but definitely before drywalling and door trim is installed.
Couple people have - but thanks all the same for engaging with the content!
What happens if you pull out the surround and find the wall is water-damaged underneath? We're pretty sure that's what we'll find in ours since the other side of the wall has some bulging...
I’d probably just figure out how to replace whatever is damaged and try to do a better job than the last guy when waterproofing 🤷🏽♂️👍🏽
I love how honest your video is. Mistakes and all. Such a nice difference from the “perfect” tutorial videos on youtube.
Thanks! I really appreciate that. That pretty well captures the heart of my channel's DIY videos - to truly see if from an average home owner/weekend warrior's perspective. Mistakes and all haha
Can I use 6x6 legs? Did you use PT? Do you think I can make long benches rather than 4 and have them be sturdy?
You could definitely beef it up with 6x6s. Not sure what you mean by ‘PT’. If you went the longer bench route, you’d likely need a middle support to prevent sagging. Thanks for checking out the video!
Thank you for this video. I've been looking at my outdated shower and could not find inspiration to do it after I got quoted $6k for a reno. This was great for me. Thanks again!
Super glad to hear it! Good luck and thanks for checking out the video 🤙🏽
Working in fractions is so 1800's. The whole world has no idea why you guys persist.
#MERICA ;)
love it. I am going to get the plan and my husband will build it for our grand daughter. Wondering if I can add the hammock?
Thanks! Not sure about the hammock idea. If you were to tight the bed into the wall framing, that could provide enough stability I think 🤷🏽♂️👍🏽
Not mixing concrete and doing dry pour like this will get you about 15% of the strength and vastly extends the cure time, in 30 days half of the thickness will still be uncured.
where did you get the worktable in the garage ?
I made it, it’s modeled after Jason over on Bourbon Moth Woodworking. Thanks for checking out the video 👍🏽
Are plans available?
Unfortunately, I never made plans for this project. Thanks for checking out the video!
Nice job what stain please
No stain, just helmsman - though, it dulled really poorly after about 2 years. I’d recommend using a fence stain/sealer instead. I refinished these ones with Cabot canyon brown and they turned out 💯👌🏽. Thanks for checking out the video!
That’s not mid century modern..
After several months of struggling to get ideas and getting those ideas rejected, this is perfect for my eagle scout project I am working on! Thank you so much for this! This is actually a blessing!
Awesome, glad to hear it! Good luck man!
You used adhesive in showers. That's a no go
Awesome! Love everything, I’m looking to make some cedar shutters of my own. I will be doing a lot of sanding 😅
Haha nice! Good luck! Thanks for checking out the video!
are the shutters screwed into the studs or just the vinyl?
Just the vinyl, they don’t weigh much.
Okay, so you CAN install wood shutters to vinyl siding? I have been trying to figure this out…. I guess it is okay..?!
@@Nyomi.Play28 I attached these over 2 yrs ago, other than refinishing them with a better exterior finish, they’ve had no issues. Though, I will say, I used screws long enough (3”) to go through the vinyl and sink into the paneling beneath.
I appreciate your realness! I feel like I can do this minus the plumbing aspect 😅
Thanks! Yeah, definitely a big project, but not impossible. Thanks for checking out the video!
What wood species did you use? I might have missed this in the video.
I used American Walnut for this build. Thanks for checking out the video!
What kind of track saw do you have?
I have the Kreg Track saw. Best bang for your buck IMO. Thanks for checking out the video 👍🏽
I can't find the link for the cut list?
Hey Karen! The link to the plans is the second link in the video bio. Thanks for checking out the project!
At 10:13 I see a skinny board between the wider ones on the top? I counted 6 boards across the top so where did that come from and why is it there? I am a NOVICE but want to build my own set bc the ready-made ones of resin are IMO junk. I can't go with typical type picnic as I need the seating to be open on the ends so you don't have to raise your leg to get into the table to sit down. I don't mind if they are attached vs separate benches but slide to get in.
That skinny board was used because my wife wanted a specific width for the table. You could definitely use full sized boards throughout. Plans are in the bio. Good luck!
Great! I just priced out a new front door off the shelf... $1400!😂
*whistles - man, that’s steep! Lol
What was the cost?
..oh man, tbh I dont really remember. The most expensive parts were the stainless steel doors (around $160 at the time). I think total all in, it was around <$500 (smoker not included). Thanks for checking out video!
You're a beginner and should not be teaching others... So many mistakes !!
It’s a DIY video, not a ‘I’m a professional’ video.
UA-cam should recommend this high-quality DIY channel, and this video deserves more than 10 million views
Thanks ! Really appreciate that! Sharing it with friends always helps a ton!
@01:10 you can see the moment the glass door broke if you use the period and comma key (,.). It looks like he hit the corner of it against the wall.
I am building a similar table but 48" wide. Since i only have a 38" wide sander i went with two 24" wide pieces and glued them after running through the sander. You are correct, pieces get more than heavy in a hurry.
Haha they definitely do! Thanks for checking out the video man!
TFS! Quick question, there appeared to be some mold on the existing fiberglass insulation when you tore out the old shower. Why didn't you replace that before continuing the new install? I noticed another installer did the same.
Hey thanks! That actually wasn’t mold, it was dirt. The was air intrusion on that side of the wall, when air can get through, it pulls everything with it. So the insulation was essentially serving as an air filter and caught all of the dirt that was being carried through. At least that’s what I was told when speaking with a local pro when I had it looked at. Thanks again for checking out the project!
Love the idea! It is a very nice build. Might make one! Now! 😂 The whiskeys you picked are good! My two are my favorites you displayed in your cabinet is knobs creek and Woodford reserve! They are high in alcohol proof but they do the job on those tough days. I recommend old forester's " statesman" from the movie kings men 2. Not only is it strong but it doesn't make you make a face since it's pretty smooth. Keep up the great work as a fellow woodworker you are doing a great job! Alex -
Forgot to ask where did you get the hardware to make it lift is it expensive and does it lift on its own?
Thanks for the encouragement man! And the recommendations 👍🏽 I picked up the hardware from Amazon - it was a bit expensive around $230 😬. Thanks again for checking out the build !
The space looks beautiful! Your baby is also beautiful!
Thanks so much! 😊
How solid is this bed, does the frame skew or twist or wobble? Apart from that, good review, thanks!
Been sleeping in it for several months now - rock solid. Kids jump on it, dog hops up, no wobble to speak of. Between the hardware design and the slats, there just isn’t any room for it. Thanks for checking out the video 👍🏽
Sick I wish I were handy enough to make something like this.
Bro - you definitely can. I didn’t take any classes, and never had any mentors. Just a stupid amount of YouTubing and (arguably) foolish levels of courage lol. If you wanna give this a go, my plans a linked in the bio 👍🏽
Hey I plan on doing my own DIY. I was wondering how you knew where the studs were when you were using the multi tool to cut out the tub ?
Hey Darius - funny thing, I didn’t lol. Just got lucky, but given stud spacing, the odds were in my favor haha. Good luck on your project!
@@donnygrahambuilds lmao oh okay. And thanks you hope it goes as well as yours did.
Man, the shower came out wonderful. Looks great.
Thanks! It was definitely a bear of a project, but totally worth it in the end 👍🏽
