@@donnygrahambuilds UA-cam has been suggesting smaller channels to me lately. Bout damn time! Glad it threw this one up. I'm sure I'll watch the rest of your videos this weekend. 🙃
This is why I love poplar! That grain variation is gorgeous, I say next time go for the greens and purples because it’s so unique and rare to find builds that include that insane grain
Thanks for checking out the build! Yeah, poplar gets a bad rep for being paint grade, but it does have some beautiful grain when you can find the right boards 👍🏽
Love it, great work. Would love to see the picture after finishing! Checked your instagram and couldn’t find it. I guess if you want to make the gains continuous throughout you can do the top and bottom frame lines from the same board. I am thinking the dividers between the drawers and doors can’t be a cross cut from the big board. It feels wrong, right?
How do you like that Mirka dust collector? What made you chose it over Festool? Great video cheers from Chicago. Edit: I see why you chose it, you have the Mirka Deros.
Yeah, I bought them as a combo set. 100% worthwhile investment. Sanding still sucks, but notably less so now 👍🏽. Thanks for checking out the video! Cheers neighbor (from northern IN).
Came out really nice. Any reason you didn't make the face frame out of the same poplar boards to make the grain continuous across the entire front and not just the drawers?
I wish a had a super well thought out reason for that. But honestly, the boards I had just weren’t long enough to pull that off :/ lol. When I was picking them out at the lumber yard, I wasn’t thinking far enough ahead 😅🤷🏽♂️ Thanks for checking out the video!
@@donnygrahambuilds Ahhh, that makes sense. Yeah, that's something you absolutely have to have a plan for before buying material. Great looking vanity regardless.
Donny, that came out beautifully! I think the second set of poplar boards for the continuous grain look is nicer than the first set. So, how did you go about pricing a job for friends? It seems that friends and family expect you to do it for free, which is fine if it is just a hobby, but when it is a business, I always underprice which has bitten me in the behind more than once. Thanks for sharing. I love poplar wood and used it once in a bathroom with sage green walls. I put a clear coat on the shelves to preserve that beautiful green color and they still look great!
Thanks for checking out the build - I agree that poplar is super underrated! When I first started out, I also got bit in the backside trying to under value my time/skill set to make sure I got the build. It happened enough times, that I just said enough was enough. So when anyone approaches me about a project, I ask them upfront what their budget is, and based on the project and their budget I'll tell them right away whether I could do it for them (without under pricing myself). For the most part, people have been very understanding - I have a full time job, a wife, and two kiddos, my time is valuable. I also have spent the better part of the last 6 years building my tool collection and skillset - which also comes with its own value. Best advice I can give, is don't undervalue your work, and be prepared to lose a few bids during that transition. You'll get better at finding your desired client as experience grows. Hope that helps!
Hi Cassidy! I’m sure with inflation, the cost has definitely changed. But I think the materials for this build were somewhere around $300-$400. Thanks for checking out the build!
Thanks for checking out the build! I’m nearly always open to commission projects, but unless your an Midwest local, shipping something this size would be insanely expensive.
Brooo.... i'm trying to watch this video but the audio is constantly switching between kinda low to hella loud.... lol.... (side note, that vanity is gonna be fire AF)
Haha I appreciate the view m’man! Yeah, I was still working out some audio issues when I made this video. I have 2 new mics now (for live and voiceovers) content should be much better going forward!
nice build dude. looking for inspiration on an upcoming vanity build for myself
Thanks man! Stoked you checked out the build 👍🏽. If you opt for the same style, please learn from my bonehead mistake - label everything! 😅
man the finished product was beautiful. that poplar looks really good...
Thanks, I appreciate that! Thanks for checking out the build 👍🏽 - I’ve got several other poplar builds if you want take a ganter over to my channel ;)

Beautiful! Poplar gets a bad wrap. Boards with character like this deserve to shine.
Couldn’t agree more! Thanks for checking out the video 👍🏽

that little trick you came up with for attaching all the drawers to the plank and THEN using the kerf as your spacing was genius, man.
Thanks man! Occasionally I’ll have a pretty decent idea haha. Thanks for checking out the build!
I was about to say the same thing, very interesting way of doing it
This was dope. Good job.
Thanks man, much appreciated!
That looks awesome!

nice grain matching!
Haha thanks! Little bit of a learning curve, but ultimately came together fairly well. Thanks for watching!
Love it.
Awesome !

And not wrong but pretty difficult
What kind of wood did you use for the outside frame?

how much was this project to build ?

That AK person appears to be really smart. You should work with them more. Great piece.
Haha she has great taste and knew exactly what she wanted! Thanks for watching 👍🏽
Awesome job! It looks beautiful, sorry if you mentioned it, but is the top made of 3/4 ply? Or 1/2?
No worries, I used 3/4” plywood for the whole carcass. Thanks for watching!
Where are you located we are interested in commissioning a similar vanity
Hi, thanks for checking out the video!
I’m in northern IN 👍🏽
Do you have plans for this vanity?
Unfortunately, I don’t. However, I am planning on starting to include plans with upcoming builds! Thanks for checking out the build!
Beautiful grain pattern. Too bad you added pulls. I would have used “push to open” hinges and drawer slides.
Thanks for checking out the build!
Not a bad idea on the push to open. This one was for a client and they wanted the clean modern pull option 👍🏽
Would you be willing to build one for us?
