    Oddly enough the most impressive note for me is the "fuggite" at 1:54. Being able to change the vowel to "e" without overdarkening it to an "o" sound and having 20 tons of squillo on top. Unbelievable performance!!!

      @craigsirianni7272 Рік тому

      Hyper extending the jaw open tends to eliminate the ability for you to add any of your own tension. Also, in this technique, generally the higher the note, the more space is required. Notice I do not open so much on the low notes.

    Craig. I really enjoy your postings. Quite a few years ago I trained with a teacher who was a student of Douglas Stanley. He also knew Tom Lomonaco and shared a recording of him with me in 1966. I was stunned by his vocal quality. You sound so much like him. My training did not go well. Too much tongue instrument. Too much dark falsetto. Excessive dropped larynx with dark hooty tone like my teacher. But hearing you and seeing you teach is a ray of sunshine. Although I am very old now, my tone has improved since listening and watching you. I look forward to hearing and learning more. Dr. Don Carlow, Canada

      Hello! I cannot thank you enough for all the kind words. Considering the state that opera finds itself in today, it's always gratifying to hear that kind of compliment. Unfortunately, while I knew Jerry very well, there are no recordings of us together. As we were both leading tenors, there wasn't much we could have performed together. I still teach full time in the attempt to re-populate the operatic world with the same type of tenor vocal production. Keep the faith!

      Hello! In the world of opera that I used to sing in, there was always a debate between lyrico-spinto and spinto for me. But yes, you are correct. God only knows where they would put me today? I probably wouldn't get hired as I would be too loud to be used with a microphone!

    Absolutely great! Now you should start a career as a metal singer! Really impressive, you don't see opera singers doing contemporary singing this well. Geoff Tate did a cover of Queen's song Innuendo, a progressive rock/ progressive metal hit from Queen's last album in 1991. On papier you would think that this would be perfect as a cover song for Geoff Tate, but people really disliked the cover, and more specially Geoff Tate's singing on it. I did not think it was bad, but the reaction wasn't good. It would be interesting to see someone of your great skill and experience sing that song, or a song from Queen's early years, The Fairy Feller Master-Stroke, that one always appeared as if it might be difficult to sing. It is not the highest song, but the expression seems quite difficult to achieve.
