I REMOVED my fear of speaking and became FLUENT for a day
The other day I met up with someone I met online. Obviously I was nervous but somehow I managed to get rid of my fear and it allowed me to speak more fluent than before. Usually, when I practice speaking, I have these negative emotions and thoughts that make it really hard for me to speak properly.
I found that the reason why I'm so nervous is because my mind is focussed on practicing the language which creates stress...
In this video I share my experience and give some tips for anyone who struggles with this as well.

4:34 - Create context where focus is NOT on the language

This is a method that I'm super curious to find out whether it works. It's based on a lot of research on comprehensibl...

    you dont "learn" and "remember" grammar. You acquire it subconsciously. Conscious study can only put out the bait for acquisition to occur in actual immersion.

    Oh, that's a good video! Many thanks to the author of the channel for the recommendations! The problem with many people is that they want to take a "magic pill" or get "secret knowledge" and immediately have skills and abilities. However, the truth of life is that knowledge, skills, and abilities do not come by themselves. You can't learn a foreign language without doing anything, without wasting your time and effort, just like you can't learn to ride a bike lying on a comfy couch, listening to lectures and watching videos about "modern methods of learning" on a bike. To really learn something, you have to really practice every day. You're going to fall down while you're learning, and you're going to get bumps - that's normal! The ups and downs of learning are an integral part of our lives. Motivation from success and depression from failure will always be your study companions. However, every student has problems in his or her studies that he or she lacks the knowledge to solve. It can be: poor memorization of words; no progress in language learning; the student can speak, but does not understand speech by ear; misunderstanding of grammar; incorrect pronunciation, etc. Agree that a problem you don't know how to solve is very demotivating. In order to find the answer to our question we have to spend a lot of time to read videos, articles and books by polyglots. In today's world, we have to solve problems as quickly as possible. I don't have time to study and analyze a huge amount of information. My goal is to master the basic knowledge of a foreign language as quickly as possible and already start earning money effectively in the international arena. I settled on the practical guide by Yuriy Ivantsiv " Polyglot Notes: practical tips for learning foreign language". This book is always in my bag. If I have a problem while learning a language, I quickly find the answer in this book. There are many different techniques and tips for learning a foreign language in Polyglot Notes. I have made my own individual schedule and plan for language learning. Now I know what I am going to study, how I am going to study, when I am going to study and what results I am going to achieve. No problem could stop me! With an effective language learning plan my professional skills are more and more in demand internationally every day. Friends, don't stop there! Everyone has talents that millions of people around the world need! Learn the language and make your ideas and dreams come true! Thanks to the author of the channel for the informative and useful video! Your videos motivate me.

    Use remembering the kanji to get a rough idea of the meaning of each kanji (the glyph itself), words are generally comprised of kanji that make sense for the overall meaning so you can piece together most of the vocab from context. The actual pronunciation of the kanji can be given by furigana, so using that in reverse. Normally you learn the vocab, so assign a meaning to the sound, then read the furigana to get the sound of the kanji, and relate that to the meaning. But this is only really letting you turn furigana into meaning, not kanji into meaning. So reading without furigana is impossible. If you do RTK the kanji give you the meaning, so you can read very easily (comparatively), and it helps whenever you need to understand a menu or something. To get the pronunciation you can then read the furigana. you can also watch stuff in japanese with japanese subtitles, if that has the kanji in the subtitles it will help you get the sound too. Vocab is better for a listening and speaking based learning approach, RTK is better for a reading focused approach.

      @@Angelovanrooij Yes, in the Kanji study app or in duolingo yang can test yourself at writing kanjis. Single kanjis. I am looking for an app that gives me a word and I must write that word on the screen. A word made of 2 or 3 kanji. And then the app check the word.

    Hello Angelo! Well, I mostly agree with you. Before computers have widely spreaded and invented into our daily life we were using books for learning. In fact learning app is almost the same thing, but it is interactive what brings kind of convenience, in case an app developed right. Unfortunately the majority of such apps are at least underdeveloped, to say it in a polite way. But there is something that these apps could help you with. I completely agree that these apps are absolutely useless and a waste of time when you are at 'A2-B1' level. But in my opinion they might be useful when you are at a complete beginner level (just got started) when hiring a personal tutor could look like a complete waste of money in comparison to using this app (1-2 hours of tutor's time would cost the same as an annual subscription) to learn some basics: alphabet, basic grammar, a word order, the way this language sounds and so on to make you be acquainted with a language up to the point when you are more or less aware of the subject and ready to "level-up" with understanding that you're _really_ going to learn it. IMO (apart from listening to podcasts/videos/etc) this would be the right time to either hiring a tutor if you can afford that or attend some classes with group of people that is usually much cheaper. And here your real language-learning will start. What I am trying to say is that these apps are just tools and you are supposed to understand it and use them right. Like if you have a fork it is convenient to use it for eating a pasta or a salad but not a pizza or a burger 🤣 Another thing is that the quality of the majority of such apps leave much to be desired - and that is disgusting. And yeah, probably one of the strongest message you wanted to bring or reveal is that people are really obsessed with these apps and this is unfortunate. They think or treat them as a "magic pills" that would make them become fluent... I wish this would be true 🤣 life would be much easier...or not? 🤔 Take care!

    Great video man! The only app that really worked for me is LingQ, but it is completely different from Duolingo and other similar apps. This is mainly because the focus in LingQ is to provide a lot of comprehensible input that is interest for the person; it doesn't care about grammar and details of the languages. It's about acquiring the language rather than learning it. About motivation, I agree we need it, but I think that in language learning, we don't need just another person or an app to motivate us. We can be our own motivators when we can understand a video or text, for example.

    • @Angelovanrooij
      @Angelovanrooij 4 місяці тому

      I see a lot of people enjoy using LingQ. Personally I have tried it a couple of times but never stuck to it. Not sure why... I think their product is brilliant though :) About motivation... I agree. I'd even say we HAVE to be our own motivators which can be hard... If you have a goal of reaching a high level, it can be difficult to stay motivated but you're the only person who can do it.
