  • Since I started learning Thai, I found out about online thai classes that required me to wake up at 5AM. So, I started waking up at 5 every day and I found that I can manage to do 3 hours a day of learning.
The way I'm learning Thai is by JUST LISTENING to comprehensible input. This is a method that I'm super curious to find out whether it works. It's based on a lot of research on comprehensible input which I find super interesting to read about.
This particular method tries to replicate the process we go through as babies when acquiring our native language. Babies listen for 2 years on average before doing any output. Therefore when following this method, one should start speaking after 800 hours of listening.
The idea is that after around 800 hours, you will start to 'naturally' output.
A lot of the language is now stored in your 'unconscious' part of the brain, you don't have to think about it. Now it's just a matter of speaking. One should not have to think about outputting as much since a lot of the language is already in the brain, waiting to be used. This is the same as in your native language.
At this point, I think you still need to practice speaking a lot, but I'm curious to see where this method will take me.

Coming from you, that doesn’t surprise me haha
If it fits your schedule then you should totally try it.
I’ll be honest though, I don’t manage to do 3 hours every day but at least I try…

The only site I can think if is Italki. Finding the right tutor / teacher might take a while but it’s worth it
