      @@EfoxativeYou say you struggle to speak your own language... why is that? Is talking to strangers in general something you struggle with?

      @@Angelovanrooij I always say the wrong words. Or mispronounce stuff. And it isn't just irregular. Its actually a daily almost hourly experience. Why this happens idk. But it happens a lot. It happens to any language I speak.

      Which makes sense to me. Because then you get to put it in context

    I generally recommend people start speaking after a year of Japanese study which means study/listen/read/write 1-3 hours per day more or less. Two reason for that is if you make through your first year that means your not a burnout, so you actually want to learn the language. Second reason after a year of study you understand enough vocab and grammar to have real basic conversions, meaning you will make much quicker progress with language acquisition the next year and after year 2 go to Japan if you can.

    Your handwriting is almost identical to mine. I’m sorry but I’m glad I’m not the only one with terrible handwriting lol
    Love your videos dude!

    Of course you kinda have to study a lot BEFORE speaking, but I think it really depends on your goals. For most, including myself, it’s better to study and have that “silent period” for a while but if your goal is to talk to your close native Japanese friend, then I think it’s best to just start talking, making some mistakes, and learning as you go

      Having a native friend is nice and makes it easier to practice too. They won't mind if you make mistakes

    I have trouble with listening😢

    • @Angelovanrooij
      @Angelovanrooij  Рік тому +1

      Why is that?
      Hard to distinguish words?
      Do they talk too fast?
      Maybe you don't know enough vocab or grammar?

      @@Angelovanrooij It’s a little bit of everything, I know around 8000-10.000 words in english, so I don’t necessarily think it’s vocabulary, however sometimes it might harm my understanding.
      I think the speed and connected speech prevents me from understanding the most.
      my understanding is pretty good with subtitles
      I’ve been doing to fill this gap is to watch an episode of a tv shows once with subtitles and immediately after watch it without subtitles to practice pure listening.

      @@ericksoaresbarretovaz I'd suggest switching it around. Watch without subtitles first so that you can get used to listening without subtitles because that is your goal right? I've noticed that I rely a lot on subtitles too so I try to watch things without subtitles at all and I just accept that I don't understand everything. Also, I watch Japanese videos on UA-cam that also don't have subs... I don't understand everything but that's fine
