Super aggressive early Capilano Coho!
Переглядів 4,3 тис.2 роки тому
Starting In late April these early Coho come back to the river. They are smaller than their fall cousins but are chrome silver, fresh and delicious! Often they are aggressive and will chase and bite your bait on the retrieve which is what happened here.

GREAT day fishing the Capilano river mouth for Coho Salmon.
love your video.. where did you launch your inflatable from? I never launched mine at vancouver side.
@elonmustard1313 I launch at Vanier park and motor across in front of Stanley park.
Mske sure to handle sockeye more carefully
Never drag a fish you aren't keeping out of the water bro wtf
@zacyule4674 yep, I agree. Someone downstream borrowed my catch and release net and hadn't brought it back yet. Painful to rewatch that.
Hey Chris, may I ask what type of leader you use for cap cohos?
Hi! Yes, it's that time of year. I exclusively use 8lb Segar flourocarbon leader. Good luck out there.
@@bugpumper Thanks!
Thanks for sharing. See that you have a shot pattern. Do you mind sharing details about your rig like rod, line, float size, shot pattern kind of detail?
Nice video chris..double header ha ha im the guy wearing blue jacket on the top of the rock
oh cool! You were right above Geoff then!
Never drag a wild steelhead onto the rocks like that
Great commitment by man overboard👍
Nice Salmon 👍You live in a beautiful part of the world. I have fond memories of Salmon fishing from Ketchican when we were on an Alaskan cruise.
rich older white dudes killin' it!
@havocguy100 you're totally right. As soon as a hand is not on the wheel, it starts turning.
This earned you a new sub 4 sure. Love to see someone giving anyone tips whether they are new to fishing or just new to your area. I live in Northern Ca. I try to do the same fishing steelhead on my local river. We get tons of pit of towners during the runs and it only takes a few minutes of my time and mabye a few flies. Its a great way to educate and possibly make a new friend. Tight lines my friend
Good to see a top rod having the patience to show newbie how to fish. We need more videos such as this rather bashing new anglers by experienced local guys.
Awesome, love this
Great video.👍
Where was this hot spot and why wasn't I there? 🤣
I have no idea. It was so weird that you weren't there! 🤣
This is excellent! I want to thank you for passing on your knowledge to others. Its so understated but oh so valuable in passing on the etiquette and tips to new anglers. Blessings for a happy holidays and a safe and healthy 2024.
thanks! I agree 100%.
spread out your split shots? I fish with a pencil lead attached to the mainline...and 2 feet of leader...is this not "the way"?
Today is December 13th, I guess the fishing season at Vedder river is over?
Nice action salmon video chris.. i fly fishing few time for king / salmon, any tip you can share it would help out... thank you.. 🎣
What setup are you rocking? It looks like the same as mine? R2 500 and IMX PRO?
yes, it's an IMX pro, with a Kingpin centre pin. A great combo!
whats your roe recipe?
easy! red hot double stuff pro cure. Put your roe in a big zip lock bag, mix it up, and put it in the fridge over night. Then I cut it into small chunks and dry it as you see in the first part of the video.
Great times on the river cheersss...
Yes it was!
great video! hope you get a new camera for christmas tho!
I need another net more!
@chompybigblock I could have left it at the Chehalis!
Was this today???
Great footage Chris; where abouts was this on the river? Looks like a spot near prison camp...close?
Hey Big Rod, that was just above the Tamahi rapids. The spot above the kayaking run.
3:16 Chehalis?
Is their Cutthroat at this beach ? Have you ever seen any ?
Sweet bro 👌🏻. Gotta love a good school of coho come in. Had some great mornings limiting in the vedder
Hi It is ken.waiting for your new video 😊
Beauty fish!
Then it's all wilds. I have that curse
Nice fish Chris!
Thanks 👍
great vid Chris; what were you using today? beads?
Do you use fake roe or a fly? They where jumping at the line yesterday and small one sniping at the fly
I use both. The water was high that day, so I was using actual roe. This was in May, before the bait ban came into affect.
Thanks for the video. I can't wait to get out on the river once the rain slows down.
any luck with the pinkos chris?
Hi! I don't go for the pinks, just coho and Springs. You can't help but get them sometimes, though.
can you show us some of the flies you use?@@bugpumper
@@coke0drinker I will!
what flies are you using?
What the spot called where is it on the capilano
it's the cable pool, just below the hatchery.
@@bugpumper thank you so much
What spot is this on the river?
Haha, I always wonder about my last cast - thinking that might be the ticket.......but never happened...........Awesome catch ! care to share the setup? what fly you used and the type of line and tippet? im new to fly fishing and wondering what setup is required in cap mouth, thanks
Hi Joseph! I use a slow sink line and 10lb flourocarbon leader. My flys are always changing, but they are some version of dark green leeches, size 10.
@@bugpumper a green leech out there i wouldn’t think to try that’s interesting, and small too lol. way to keep that one on the line🤙🏽
What kind of fly were you using dude? Sick catch!
Hey chris, is it recommended to bleed out the salmon? If so why? Thanks in advance
May I ask what fly you use Chris for Ambleside fishing for coho
What day was this Chris?
where on the river is this?
I'm a true fisherman and conservationist. Have been for over 50 years. I would be embarrased and ashamed to kill those tiny fish. A true sportsman would be releaing them. Shame on you.
Hey Chris, just wanted to lnow what type of fly line do you use?
Hi! I use a slow sink Camou line. Some guys use a floating line, but I prefer the slow sink because I often am in a boat.
Wow surprising to see the pink so coloured up even in the salt
Looks like a great fight nice fish!
thanks! Painful when you feel the line go slack.
