Ive noticed that some guys esepcially guys fishin pins tend to hold their float back a bit and have it facing towards them. Why is that? Is there a specific type of water where u should try and use this technique? Thanks
No Hugh, you should let it completely free Drift in my opinion. Most times those guys holding back are new fishers(with some exceptions) And some guys holding back are basically bottom bouncing with a float on and just dredging their gear across the river to floss a fish in the mouth. A straight up and down float tells you that a guy is actually giving the drift a natural presentation. Having said all that, some good fishers do slow down their drift in a faster flow. Hope this helps.
