  • Starting In late April these early Coho come back to the river. They are smaller than their fall cousins but are chrome silver, fresh and delicious! Often they are aggressive and will chase and bite your bait on the retrieve which is what happened here.

    Nothing for me so far, couple trips out. Not using roe (guy beside me once was) but usually fish in canyons or just below highway 1. Maybe just more time for me haha. I've always struggled with this fishery.

    Hello, I've been thinking of getting a centerpin reel and I was wondering on what fishing line you suggest using, thanks.

    • @bugpumper
      @bugpumper  Рік тому

      Hi Uahoo! I have been using 14lb Stren fishing line on my centre pin for years. Some people may think that's light line but I land even the biggest Spring salmon on that line.
      It has a high visibility purple glow to it that I like also. Go see my friends at Pacific Angler and they will get you what you need.

      @@bugpumper do you bother looking at the rivers water level when planning a trip? Any insights on when is best to go? I’ve gone a few times to the cap as it’s quite far away from me and just fishing for more info before planning another trip, I’ve gotten skunked pretty much every time I’ve gone 😂

    • @bugpumper
      @bugpumper  2 роки тому +2

      @@Dracula6789 I always look at the river levels but thats usually just to know weather I'll be drifting roe or if its really low then I'll be fly fishing a very fast sinking line. If you want to get your fishing dialed in make sure you have good roe, four #4 split shots, a swivel and 10lb leader to a size 4 hook with a nickle sized chunk of roe on.

      This is the perfect answer Chris, I’d pin this comment myself if it was my own video for all the new ones trying to get into it. Thanks a ton for this, was exactly what I was hoping for! Will get this set up ready tonight since everyone I’ve talked to this week who’s gone to the cap has had quite an awesome week.

    Awesome fish! I’m looking forward to heading out there. How deep do you fish your bobber in the cable area? I’m super new to fishing and I can never seem to find the fish with that in that area with the floats.

    • @bugpumper
      @bugpumper  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Finnan! You want to have your bobber just off the bottom so when I start fishing the first few casts I pay attention to the float to tell weather its dragging on the bottom or not and adjust the depth accordingly. Good luck out there.
