    I started to panic a few weeks ago when my fuel gauge started flashing on my Ninja 650 in the middle of nowhere. I didn't have my phone on me so I couldn't search for a gas station and had to just hope for the best. I made it. Who in the hell would buy a bike that has a 40 mile range? That would barely get me to work and back. If there were any detours or traffic, I'd be dead on the side of the road. This bike is dumb.

    Cheaper than a Harley? Oh, yes! Definitely a LOT cheaper than an Overpriced, Overrated, Harley! BETTER than a Harley? ABSOLUTELY AND DEFINITELY WAY BETTER than any and every Harley! I have a 2016 Kawasaki Vulcan Voyager 1700 that I bought recently to replace the 2005 Yamaha Road Star Silverado 1700 that an elderly woman (87 years old) TOTALED when she Rear-ended me while I was stopped at a traffic light behind several other cars! And I loved that Yamaha, it was THE BEST motorcycle I've ever owned, and I've owned a lot of motorcycles. My first motorcycle was an old "Harley Davidson Electra Glide." It was stripped down (no saddle bags, windshield, etc.) but it was a Harley! That one CURED ME on Harley's! Constantly having to work on it, and when it did run it was too heavy and cumbersome to handle. And the COST, let's not even get into that one! The "H.D." doesn't really stand for "Harley Davidson," it stands for "Hundred Dollars!" Because everything costs more than $100. And several of my friends bought Harley's, and they were "constantly having to WORK on it" and "put more MONEY in it." Every time we planned a group ride, the "Harley owners" wanted to have a special "WORK on our bikes time" before the Ride! Sorry, but I don't buy motorcycles to have to constantly WORK on them. I buy them to RIDE! I like to RIDE because it's ALL about the RIDE! It's about the JOUNEY... NOT the destination! And I buy the ones that are DEPENDABLE and WELL-BUILT and don't COST me a lot of money just because of "the name" on it. Like the Expensive Leather boots, coats, vests, and chaps, with the "Official Harley-Davidson Logo" on them that are ALL "Made in Pakistan" (the country of OUR ENEMY)! Over the years, I've owned that 1 Harley, a couple Kawasaki's, a Triumph, several Yamaha's and even more Honda's. I considered buying a couple BMW's and Suzuki's but never bought one. I've owned 3 Goldwing's (a 1979, 1982, & 1985) and a few Honda 750-Four's and 550-Four's and Yamaha Virago's. For 50 years I've been more of a fan of Honda's and Yamaha's. I bought this 2016 Kawasaki Vulcan Voyager VN1700, and after putting 1,000 miles on it in the last 3 weeks, I think this one is my "New ALL-TIME Favorite!" I like it even better than the Yamaha 1700 that some woman rear-ended because she obviously was NOT "Paying Attention." Either she was not paying attention to her driving, OR she was too old and had too many health issues to be a "Competent & SAFE" driver! Either way, I got 2 broken ribs a badly sprained shoulder and 2 large hematoma's on my legs and "my Favorite" bike now Totaled because of her. But I thank GOD that I'm not dead, and my body is healing, and I'll be okay. And for those who like to "boast" that "Harley's are Made in AMERICA!" Correction, Harley's are "Assembled" in AMERICA, using MANY Communist Chinese made parts! There are several models of Honda's and Yamaha's (and some other "Jap bikes") that are also "Assembled" in AMERICA! But they're built with Japanese AND AMERICAN made parts. Japan is "OUR" ally! China is "OUR" ENEMY! I'll buy from (and financially support) those who are MY FRIEND & ALLY rather than those who are MY ENEMY!

    I had several models in the past, and I truly believe the Rebel 500 is a really nice bike. probably not great in anything in particular, but it is very good in general. And far from being boring, it only depends on what you are looking for when buying a motorcycle.

      Welcome to the riding community! There isn’t really an age restriction with this bike. I’d say this particular bike has loud graphics. If that’s your style then by all means! It’s not as comfortable as a cruiser. But it’s lighter than most. Dealership support for me is number one. I’d recommend getting a bike that has a dealership near you. Ride safe!

    I have this bike. To turn it on you start in the off position with the turning mechanism, then press in and turn gently to the right, and then once it gets caught you stop pushing in and continue to turn right. Its a bit difficult but after a day or so its easy to get used to.

    This bike is prefect for me because I travel country by road so when at custom they will be so many bike I mean so many few hundred thousand bike crossing daily…it will take 40 to 1 hrs to cross country… so with slow traffic below 10kmp this bike just prefect… using ninja 1000sx so stuck at traffic for more then 40 minutes with all the engine heat Daam it’s hot 🥵

    The e1 has a dealer installed charger for the rear. Ive not found any dealer not just giving you it for free. So i just bought this bike as my first learner bike. Id litterly never even set on a bike before this. I wss able to ride this within seconds. Not gonna lie im absolutely loving it. Id love for the walk mod to limit tq. It feels twitchy and i honestly find it easier to just move it normally. I hope as time goes in the cost of the bike goes down as it needs to be as cheap as the 500. It also needs to push up to a 75mpg top speed and 80mile range. Its the first yesr model tho so you have to go threw growing pains

    I dunno. This feels like a weird product to me. Unlike an electric motorcycle, you still have to deal with all the maintenance of ICE vehicle - changing oil, valve clearance, etc. It's not much cheaper, either. Why buy this over the Livewire Del Mar or the Zero S? On the other side, I do like that it's automatic. But automatic is nothing new. Electric motorcycles are automatic, too. I own a Honda NC750X DCT. It's automatic. Why buy this over a Honda DCT if all you want is automatic? I imagine it's hard to find a mechanic to work on this thing. You have to be familiar with hybrid vehicles. This is the only production hybrid motorcycle on the planet. You have the same issue you have with an electric motorcycle - trying to find someone that can actually work on it. This is also a very strange choice for their first hybrid. Why not the Versys? Cramming all this into a Ninja had to be a pain.

  • @baconberries8097
    @baconberries8097 11 днів тому

    It's strange to me that they decided on a parallel hybrid rather than a series hybrid, where the motor only charges the battery, and the wheels receive mechanical power through the electric motor alone. Especially since their goal was efficiency rather than performance, which i thought wasn't the case. In a series hybrid, the engine can be fined tuned for efficiency at a single RPM, whatever is enough to charge the battery while the EM is running. You could also have a smaller engine and ditch the gearbox and mechanical drivetrain, reducing weight and increasing durability. You lose the top end performance of an ICE, but that seems a lot more inline with Kawasaki's goals here. I'm not an engineer, or even all that smart to begin with, so if anyone knows why they would choose a parallel hybrid, please let me know!
