  • The 2023 Vespa isn't a fast bike. In fact you would be out of your mind to want to take it on the freeway. But, for inner-city commute it is perhaps the BEST option out there! Surprisingly versatile and equipped. Let's take a deep dive into its features and all that it offers.
Thanks to Bellevue Motosports for allowing me to take this Vespa for a thorough review.

I have the 2023 Vespa GTS 300 Super Sport and ride on the freeway in LA with no problems. You're out of your mind if you think you can't take it on the freeway bro.

same to me. It easily does 120km/h.. but still: wind is a noisy and uncomfortable thing (on any bike) which I don`t enjoy as much as going around curvy roads with average 80km/h

The question is about longevity. If you ride for 2 hours every day with the scooter pegged at full throttle - it may not be the best for long life, right?
Also the 10k$ price including setup fees on a new bike puts it very close to a mid-size adventure bike like an NC750X DCT - which comes with dual clutch automated transmission.

@@David_Journey I think that you will be shocked to learn about how many Vespa’s traveled around the world/ really long distances/trips.
And there also quite a few old ones still around and really loved. People that have multiple motorcycles and a Vespa end up putting the most miles on a Vespa a lot of times.
If maintained correctly (not the hardest thing) then the longevity is pretty good.

Just imagine how much cheaper gas would be if 30% of Americans rode a scooter instead of a second car. I see so many single occupant big trucks and SUV's on the road at 14 mpg. I would be happy to see gas have a big tax on it like the EU and then no income tax for people under $100K in income. I take my scooter whenever I can to run errands and for groceries. A scooter is liked by everyone including the police. I park my scooter up on the curb but between planters so I do not infringe on pedestrians. I never get a ticket. I encourage anyone that has thought about it to get a scooter. You will not regret it.

I’m buying one as a commuter, and pub bike;) I have my Tenere 700 as the adventure bike. I don’t own a car. I think the trick is to incentivise people to downsize. Here in Australia we pay car/Moto registration for a motorcycle, what you pay is dependent on capacity. We should have the same for cars, so the smaller the engine, you pay less registration.

In America it's not too popular but in the rest of the world is very popular. My personal opinion is that Piaggio needs to install bigger wheels like 14". I don't want to hear that they don't want to change the iconic status of the Vespa because they already did by making the Vespa with the automatic transmission and they already installed bigger wheels. This should be done for the American market because of the big roads/ highways.

To add about the bicycle lef-right brakes. It is right-rear if the bike is sold in the country that drives on the right. If it's on the left , the brakes are reversed, same as standard scooter. It's because of the law that you give signal to stop with with hand that is inside of the road on a bicycle and the rear brake must be the other one for safety reasons.

Just love Vespa. And buy the way very capable on dirt. Google Vespa Sani pass. But thanks for a thorough explanation on the Vespa.

That you don’t know how to scrape your kneepads in corners, wheelie and ride your front wheel (ditch the abs or an old model). Says a lot about your driving skills than the Vespa (although a zip is still a better choice)…

Beyond. Only reason I recently bought a 2023 Sprint 150S recently is because my Kymco 150 was stolen and the insurance company gave me 2500.00 for it! I used that to make up the cost difference for the Vespa. Gotta say, it is WAY smoother and quicker than the Kymco which inspired a whole new world of confidence in my riding style. I was impressed that it came stock with Michelin City Grip 2 tires.
