Excellent work! Soon you’ll be ready to relax and enjoy the summer! ❤
Relax 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 You must have been a comedian in your previous life.
@@FarmsVilla No but I live with Grant so it must be rubbing off on me. 😂
Kristina tried to comment, but it doesn’t seem to show up, I think it had to do with you “gardening instrument” and went against community standards😂
lol. Just checked and no comments held for review. 🤷🏻♂️🤣

Welcome back! Great work with all the pruning. It's going to look nice and tidy in no time. 😍
Thank you!
Yeah it’s a long hard slog especially with me being away. I’m sure you understand. 😉
@@FarmsVilla All too well. I won’t be home until the end of April. It’s hard knowing your other half is at home trying to do everything by themselves. 🥰
@@notyouraveragegringosI know the feeling. Mandy is slaving away in Italy atm getting the place ready for the next round of visitors. So sick of sorting damp every season now. 😡
@@FarmsVilla Agreed. We finished the grading around the house before rainy season so it was an improvement over our first winter. Back at it again though as the south wall was still a little damp. Our next project is rain gutters and French Drains. If you don’t have French Drains around your house it might help keep the foundation dryer over the winter months. If you can find a way to prevent the damp issues it will make life easier and more comfortable. Good luck! Sending hugs to Mandy! 🥰
Good to see you guys back. Greetings from wet & windy Netherlands. After work a Klippies & coke.
yeah we back. kinda. still trying to work out how to do this with me being away for 3 weeks out of 4. Sadly no Klippies but plenty of red wine. 👍🏻🤣
Good to see you 2 back after the winter hope things go well in the garden plot after so much work.
thanks. Winter and us don’t go too well together. As a result not much interesting stuff goes on during winter. 🤣👍🏻
MacGyver and Wonder Woman! You guys make a great team! ❤ Not sure I understand the new battery. Is it to charge with the genny? If so why not just run directly off the genny? I probably missed something there. 🤔
we only have a 3kw genny so if i am running off the genny like last year when anyone uses an appliance it trips the genny as we then draw more power than what it can supply. This way the new charger is run directly off the genny which means we can theoretically still draw up to 8kw of power while running the genny. So not using the built in mains charger of the inverters.
Really impressed by your tidy cabling. Mandy's camerawork also excellent. Are you thinking of getting Lifepo4 batteries? Pour yourselves a big glass of Pinotage this evening.
Thank you! As it so happens I am on another cable clean up mission this evening on the Inverter board. It should hopefully be finished next time you see it. 👍🏻 Yep Lifepo4 batteries on the list along with 2 8Kw inverters and some more panels. 🙂
I'll be watching the progress. Bokke next week?
@@nwedrikkozijn hell yes! Bokke all the way👍🏻
Nick work on your panel layout ,very tidy work well done !!
Thank you! I hate seeing all the cables on most installs so wanted to keep it as tidy as possible.
Of course there's a rock! 😂 I'm too old for this 💩! 🤣 You sound like us.
I learned how to refill the strimmer from your video! Grant always does it so ours is just magically ready to go. 😂
😂😂 I am in your camp - the strimmer was always good to go but very grateful I now know how to. So glad you learned how to too 👍🏻 😁
@@FarmsVilla Definitely good to know in case the men are busy. Looking forward to see what Superwoman gets up to in the next videos! Because you are Superwoman, don’t let Clive tell you otherwise. 😉
You have just made my day Kristina 🥰 thank you ❤️. I think I might be more like Wonder Woman - wonder what she is going to do/break/repair next 😂.
@@FarmsVilla You deserve the compliments, sending love from Portugal ❤️ Wonder Woman sounds even better. ⭐️ Maybe you can do a comic strip segment on your next video? 🤔
@@notyouraveragegringos there you go with the only fans reference again! 🤣🤣
Avocado trees are looking good! 🥑 The purple flower climbing plant isn’t nasturtiums, the leaves are wrong and I don’t think nasturtiums come in purple, they normally have orange flowers and the leaves and flowers are edible and taste peppery. Quite delicious in salads or as a garnish for soups. If I had to guess what the purple flowered vine is I’d say morning glory?
Morning glory? I like the sound of that. Haven’t seen one of those for a while now. 🤣
Oh my what a numpty I am 😂 and here I thought Clive did not buy "morning glory seeds". Thank you so much for putting me right - I did warn you I was not an expert. I bet my mother in law is looking down and shaking her head at my stupidity 🙄. I so wish I had learned more from her.
@@FarmsVilla That kind of morning glory is for your only fans! 🤣🤣🤣
@@FarmsVilla You guys have huge gardens so don’t be hard on yourself if you don’t remember what every plant is. I highly recommend planting nasturtiums though. They are beautiful, delicious, and are good companion plants for lots of veggies. ❤️😘
@@notyouraveragegringos 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I guess I deserve that one! Lol
OMG how many joints .PTF tape is a must and assembly glue .I think the Italian UV light is maybe having a effect on the plastics . Fuel filter on the tractor is maybe restricting the power and it's effecting the power when it goes up hill .
Yeah many many many joints. Need to go around the whole irrigation system and redo all of the joints with PTF tape and tighten up all the manifolds. The sun is not our friend as it kills everything. Good call on the fuel filter. I will replace it next visit home. 👍🏻
@@FarmsVilla fuel filter is the cheapest option and even if it doesn't improve the power it,s part of a service .I think lack of revs under load ( uphill ) is your gear box problem .
@@rocklover7437 I’ll be sure to let you know once I swap it out. 👍🏻
I meant to ask what assembly glue would you recommend?
@@FarmsVilla EVO-STIK PVC Pipe Weld .The joints have to be nice and clean and dry .Use a kitchen scrub pad and some glass cleaner from Mr Muscle.
LOL - I am NOT happy! Poor Clive should've rested on his limited R&R time off! (On the other hand, this is what keeps him sharp & focused.) P.S. I did go check my post box, but I don't seem to have gotten an invitation to RSVP for your upcoming anniversary .... 😇😜 SARCASM is a language on its own! LOLOLOL
Yeah I actually needed to come back to work to get a break! 🤣🤣 I don’t think I got an Invite either! 🤷🏼♂️
And you have only seen half of the pain at this point. 😊
You are correct Clive should have come home for 48hrs of R&R but sadly that did not happen. He had a long to do list before he saw mine 🙄, hopefully next trip will be better .... we can only live in hope right. If you are referring to our anniversary - keep checking the post box in November 🤣😂 SARCASM is a great language - sadly not many get it lol 😎
Wow! What a crazy week Mandy had. I think she did amazing though, and now she knows how to repair the irritation (haha oops) system next time disaster strikes. Too bad Clive won’t be there to catch the naughty mice on the mouse cam and in his creative mouse traps, but I’m sure Mandy can handle it. If not we’ll have to send Gina over to lend a hand. 🐾 🐈 🐭
It sure was a crazy week and I am glad to have watched and filmed "how to repair" a few things 😂. I am sorry Clive is not here to deal with the mouse issue as that is not really my thing lol. I will keep an eye in the pantry to see if they are still moving in 🙄 Yes please send Gina, my 2 are useless it seems.🤣😂
@@FarmsVilla You now have a video reference to help with future repairs. Gina is an excellent mouser. She's more of a barn cat really as she's skittish around people. How to get her to Italy though? 🤔✈️
@notyouraveragegringos - I am very pleased that I now have video reference - will help me greatly in the future with DIY repairs 😁. Quite the conundrum on how to get Gina here lol. Spot will be happy as she too is skittish around people and useless at catching mice, only birds interest her 🙄.
Another great video! Smart idea using the hammer drill to loosen the ground up. Avocado trees are looking great! 🥑😍
Thank you Gringos 😀❤️. It would have taken way longer with just the spade. Lets hope we get avos from those trees in years to come.
@@FarmsVilla I might have to follow your example when I dig a drainage ditch in front of our house. Genius! Work smarter not harder. 🤩
I highly recommend using this tool to dig the drainage ditch. It will go a lot quicker. I still have a few more fruit trees to get into the ground so will be using this again 😁💪🏻
LOL, it seems you know what you're doing!
I'm so glad it seems to look that way 😂😂
Surviving and thriving Mandy! Great video, who knew you were such a good producer, and a poet 😆 Awesome!!
Thank you Matt for your support and encouragement 👍🏻❤️Considering I was a first timer with the tools of the trade and needed to research and learn everything from scratch on "how to use" the dji, macbook, iMovie etc it all turned out ok. I can only hope that with more practice and learning things will get a little easier 😎
Mandy ou did great without Clive helping. Don't put yourself short on your abilities. Looks like you did just fine. That's quite a Home Compound, beautiful home. Beautiful garden as well. I also know you'll be happy to see him back home.
Thank you for you support and words of encouragement. 😀 You are right i did do ok after I had calmed down but it was daunting during that first week. I am looking forward to seeing Clive next Thursday and will try and keep my list of repairs to a minimum as he is only back for a couple of days 😂😂
Arnold Schwarzenegger 🤣😂🤣
Now I understand why you are in such great shape ❤
Thank you Sonett I will put it done to eating fresh food and doing a lot of walking, digging, tossing....😂 but I love my job 😎
"down" not done
That is a huge lawn to mow. Not just look better, I love the smell of freshly cut grass.
It sure is ... it used to take me 8 hours to do the area you saw in the video with a push mower a few years back but I am a little out of practice these days 😂 M
You just crack me up. In a moment of tension not sure what to do, it sounded like you were chanting a poem 😅
Those first couple of days it was very tense, apart from taking care of animals and making sure Mom was ok I was glued to pads, checking the sprinklers were working and the batteries were not depleted 😳 bearing in mind my crash course was the night before Clive left 😂😂
Well done Mandy! You managed to maintain the property in good nick! (Hey PSSST Clive, you better get home quick, she's breaking *EVERYTHING* !)😇
😂😂😂😂😂
Thank you and hopefully it stays that way. Trust my Mom to spill the beans 🙄 Can't wait to play with Clive's tools next week, but keep that between you and I 😋 M
Yeah I saw that. Gonna have to work a few more years just to pay for repairs at this rate. 😳🤣 C
@@FarmsVilla You poor guy, I'm sorry you are so ill-treated and abused at home ... (poor Clive, I wish there was something I could do to stop the slavery this man has to endure?)
@@joatmofa0405 send me the winning lottery numbers and we will confirm you have done your level best to help resolve the dire situation I find myself in. 👍🏻😳😂😂
Mandy is a rockstar! 🤩 Love your first solo video and we finally got to see Mum ❤ Smart idea putting pots over the sprinklers so you don’t run them over. You made great progress until the mowers went kaput. Hang in there, you’re doing fantastic. Thanks for sharing your first week sans Batman with us! ❤
No sure about being a rockstar but I thank you for your support and kind comments. It was a crazy 1st week to be fair but things are slowly settling down and beginning to fit into daily routines. Typical that things break/go wrong when Batman leaves lol. I hate to admit that I have run over 1 too many sprinklers and never took the time to watch the repairs - silly me. Batman has done a couple as well, let it be known. Will have to attempt to fix one of the mowers before we get lost in the grass 🤣😂 M❤️
@@FarmsVilla Well I think you put out a great video after what must have felt like a hectic week for you. In your video you seemed cool as a cucumber 😎 and you got so much accomplished. Great idea including Mum in your video. She's super cute and hilarious. Good luck with the mower repairs, wouldn't want you to get lost in the grass. 🤣
Thank you so much - it was hectic and I think the acting lessons are paying off hahaha. Mom is very funny when she forgets about the camera rolling and now you know where I get my potty mouth from - apple and tree and all. Another lesson learned - DO NOT try and download 18 min of footage onto an overloaded macbook and iMovie. Yip it certainly was a crazy week of learning 🙃😂❤️
And I thought you guys were just being dramatic when you said the place was upside down a few hours before we arrived 🤣 wow what a huge job that was!! So sad our trip is over already!
Me being dramatic 🙄 It was good to see the place finished as it has been in a state of repair for so long - just waining for rain to end - that I had forgotten what it used to look like 😂🤣😂 not long to go till we see you again ❤️
What a great video 😆 and what an awesome job you guys done!! Was great seeing you, as always, the 3 of us had the best time! See you again next month 🥳
Thank you Matt 😋 Glad you all had a great time, can't believe it has come and gone so quick. Looking forward to seeing you again in a few weeks 👍🏻😀
Hello sir.. I am from North Africa, or more precisely, I am from the capital of natural gas.. Is there any hope to work in Italy with a CV.. My question is possible yes/no...!
Sadly I have no idea. Guess you need to check with Italian immigration.
@@FarmsVilla it's fine np And thank you so much... Enjoy your day.
I like the cartoon effect you created with your editing! How did you do it? Or is it a trade secret? 🤫 11 hours to go, it’s actually looking worse… you almost made my panty ripper come out my nose. 😂 I clean the same way though. It starts off like a tornado went through the house and I make a huge mess before it gets tidy. 🌪️🤪
There's another way to clean? I thought this is the way everyone does it? The effect is easy - Mandy figured that one out. Clip filter in iMovie and select comic basic. 👍🏻
@@FarmsVilla Well it’s the only way I know how to clean but Grant thinks I’m crazy 😜 I’ll have to try the filter in iMovie, hopefully it works on the iPad. 🤞🏻 Thanks for the editing tip! ❤️
Where are you in Italy?
You have the most gorgeous home. Just love it. Love everything about it.
The count down stressed me out 😂😂
Can you imagine how much it stressed us out? 🤣 I left for the airport at about 11pm and Mandy had to finish it on her own before we got back. lol
Thank you so much Sonet that is so kind. We love our little corner of paradise too 😋 regards M
You and me both 🤣😂
@@FarmsVilla honestly?? I don't know how she did it. Wonder woman for sure. What really got to me is the way you stayed so calm amidst the reigning chaos.
Awesome! Visitors looked like they had a great time.
I hope they did. didn't have any complaints apart from the aircon wasn't used enough! 🤣
Lovely property, home cinema wow !!
Thank you although I can't remember when we actually used the home cinema. Too much work and too tired at night. Maybe one day. 😏
Every single day I wake up and think "poor Clive has to endure a lot of abuse again today - please lord, give him an abuse-free day"! 🤣😂🤣
🤣 It got so bad I had to go back to work to get some peace and quiet! lol
😂😂😂😂😂
You both crack me up 🤣 Your prayers have been answered and he is away getting lots of peace. Hopefully to return and do double the work lol 🤣😂 - regards M
@@FarmsVilla Thank you Mandy for being such a wonderful wife to Clive - you are the best! (hey pssst, Clive - Mandy says it's OK, you can have a cold beer again buddy!) 😅🤣😂
Phew! Glad to hear that. Think I should crack a cold one now. 👍🏻
I had an inverter put in last year to power my water pump when we have loadshedding. It has 2 batteries. Well, those batteries are flat already and one battery cost round about R3500. I do not have that kind of money to spend on 2 batteries every 18 months. Needless to say I am upset 😢
I don’t blame you. I am about to upgrade my batteries to lithium in the next few months. It isn’t cheap that is for sure. Why did your batteries die after 18 months? That should not happen unless you don’t have solar to keep them topped up. I don’t understand how Ekskom has been allowed to get to the state it is in. Oh I actually do know how. 🙄
What type of batteries are you using?
I really do not know why they ran flat so quickly. It is not on solar. I think it is deep cycle batteries. I am an old woman 😂. This is not my field of expertise. Yet I watched your whole video. Understanding almost nothing, but you got me at 'inverter' and how neat your workmanship is as my mind thinks that there is something like perfection 😂
@@SonetLandman thank you although it is far from perfect. 🤣 but I do try and do as good a job as I can.
We’ll done! Impressive 🎉
Thanks so much Denise. It was a bit hairy at times. 😃
Missed a bit.
🤣🤣 you’re probably right. 🤷🏻♂️😊
I think Grant wants one of those sanders now. Looks like a handy tool to have on hand. Next time you have some painting to do, and you don’t want to clean the brushes and rollers a few days in a row, you can throw them in a plastic bag in the freezer and the next day when you’re ready to paint they will just need a few minutes to warm up and you’re good to go. The painting job looks great. Looking forward to to seeing what you get up to next week! ❤
Yep it is well worth the €79 it cost. Works great but you must remember to turn on the vacuum first. 🤣 Problem with the freezer job is it gives me too much leeway to procrastinate. 🤷🏻♂️ One and done is what works best for me. Well most times anyway.
@@FarmsVilla Good point, I tend to procrastinate as well. I actually enjoy painting though so I guess that saves me.
I don't mind painting. That's all I will say on the subject 🙄 Procrastination I'm really good at. 😉
Shame you poor thing, I don't suspect Mandy ever felt sorry for you & brought you a cold one during ALL your HARD WORK? She's a real slave-driver! Not to worry Clive, you can rest assured that at least I am concerned for your wellbeing ...
The secret to a happy marriage rests on 2 words. "Yes dear" 🙄 Mandy claims she is a cheer leader not a slave driver. Just like she is determined NOT stubborn! 🤣 Thank you for your concern. It is good to know at least someone cares. lol
LOL - nobody RTFMs - that is reserved for only when Step 1 encounters a snag...
EXACTLY! 🤣👍🏻
I use in my body shop a oscillating saw and a reciprocating saw .I used the oscillating saw to take a pallet apart .I went through the nails between the blocks and the planks .I then used a punch to drift the nails out or just enough to get vice grips on to pull them out .A reciprocating saw would probably be just as good .
Good idea. Might be even quicker. Will give that a go next time. 👍🏻
@@FarmsVillaMy Dewalt is a oscillating multi tool and use it as a sander aswell as a saw .The saw blades for metal go through nails like a hot knife through butter .

Great method for taking the pallets apart! We had a great place for free pallets in Canada but they are hard to come by in Portugal. We’ve only found a few broken ones for free here. Take care and enjoy the beautiful summer weather! 😎
Cheers. Have you not heard? This is not summer this is a heatwave, 🤣🤣🤣 dunno what the hell they are playing at as the temp is the same as last year roughly. 🤷🏻♂️
@@FarmsVilla We've only had a few days that were hot here (30+). Overall I find it similar to last year. Missing the Caribbean weather, it’s too damn cold here. 😂
@@notyouraveragegringos lol. Should have come to Italy. 40 today. 😎 high 30s whole of last week. Pool is getting plenty of use I can tell you that. Thankfully it is still blue! 🤣🤣
@@FarmsVilla I wish! We'd actually be able to swim in the ocean in Southern Italy as well. Sounds like heaven. Glad your pool is still blue! 🩵
good technique. I have used pallet wood for projects around my place for years and many made fun of me.....until the covid madness and lumbar prices going crazy. Now some businesses want me to pay for the pallets they used to throw away!!! Lucky for me i still have a free supply, score one for the cheap old guy....me.........lol
Thanks Arnold. I suspect I will have to find a new technique when the pallet supply changes.Yup I'm kicking myself for not recycling pallets sooner. I am going to be replacing all our rotting raised beds with pallet wood over time as I build up a stock of pallets. As I grow older I also become cheaper! 🤣 But mainly I refuse to pay extortionist prices!
Your Introduction tickled me. Nice work. Good to see you both laughing together in the pool. Sorry to see the moisture problem. Is there any way to use a dehumidifier to remove the moisture over time? Or like Vic6820 wrote, possibly poor drainage below the foundation? Thanks for sharing. More laughing, good times pool antics! Enjoy the good life, love your home.
Glad you enjoyed it. 🙂 Luckily we got it done in 1 take. Yep. I was just saying to Mandy the other day we spend all our time working and never take time off to enjoy the fruits of our labour. So Sunday was going to be our day off........... 🤣 If only! We do use our dehumidifier regularly but it is a pointless exercise if you don't stop the water coming in first.
Your pool is looking great! 😎 I noticed your downspouts end on the tile outside. Would it be worth adding a piece to extend them out to the grass so less water is hitting the tiles and possibly sitting along the edge of the wall you have sealed? Looks like a lot of work to do every year. 😳
Thanks. There was a time there that I thought it was never going to be blue again. 😳 It is a LOT of work to do every year. This is the last time. If this doesn't work we will move out the house into a tent! 🤣 I am pretty sure the grout cracking is 90% of the problem. Since sealing with silicone you can see water droplets sitting on the tiles and silicone. Before sealing there was no water visible as it all ran into the cracks. fingers crossed this is the final fix!
@@FarmsVilla It sounds like you have fixed the problem then! 🤞 Your plaster repair job looks good! Hopefully it's the last time you have to do it. I can't imagine living in a tent would be all that comfortable. 😂
At least living in a tent you expect to see damp. 🤣 Fix one problem for another one to appear. Our borehole pump died yesterday 😫
@@FarmsVilla Oh no! It’s always something. Just when you think you can relax a little something else needs fixing. 😕
@@notyouraveragegringos not a little thing that needs fixed sadly. It is at times like this you realise just how difficult it is to become truly self sufficient. I will turn my hand to most anything but I know my limitations and dealing with a well pump 100 meters deep is a step too far. So I am at the mercy of the well technician atm. We are able to hand water veggies but not sure how long our holding tank will last if we are doing this. The grass is already turning crispy after not watering for 2 days. 😢
If you are sure it's rising damp as oppose to condensation, then it could be poor drainage outside, it could be a cracked water pipe, it could be water running down from rhe roof somewhere. It could do with some external venting perhaps.
I'm pretty sure it is rising damp. A leaking water pipe would cause this condition all year not just when it is the rainy season. Next job is to seal the roof. I'm sure there is some water getting in that way as well but the main issue is at the bottom of the walls so we tackled the cracked grout first. 👍🏻 I agree extra venting for the cavity space under the floors will also help. I don’t think there is enough ventilation on that side of the house.
Maybe spraying more often but a shorter time might be better and might use less water. More trouble setting up, I know.
First step is to prove how much it improves generation before I get involved in an elaborate setup. Record Solar assistant while I spray them down with the hose. If it delivers significant results it should not be too hard to set up a circuit on the irrigation system to run pretty much as I need it to. Added bonus it should also keep the panels clean. 😁
What sort of spray would you recommend? Micro misters may not cool them down enough. 🤔 pvc tube with lots of holes drilled in it. Might be getting ahead of myself here. 🤣
@@FarmsVilla if you have micro misters that might help and be enough to cool to improve performance. If I remember right 3°C lower would get you 1% increase performance. If it is not some what even I am not sure it would help much. I used a mister on an ac unit and it lowered the power demand, but I did not like the mineral build up If you used the PVC method you could recycle the water and may be something to look at. Maybe a rv pump? A water storage tank could be made out of plastic like 6 mil to test. A float like in a toilet could keep the tank full. That may have to be too deep. Just a thought. Maybe more panels would be easier.
