We enjoy watching you guys for your personality, sarcasm and to share your experiences. We started our channel for the same reasons, as a video reference for ourselves to look back on, and for family and friends to see what we’re up to. We can relate to the long task list and limited time to complete it before guests arrive. It can get stressful. We discovered we need checklists to stay on track, prioritize, and be more productive. Sometimes we also struggle with feeling like we’re supposed to post certain content, but at the end of the day it’s your vlog sharing your experiences and people can follow or not, and like it or not.

Thanks guys! We do try but it can get very trying some times! 🤣 I was working out how much time UA-cam actually takes out of our week and it was quite a shocker. It is an eye opener if we actually track how much time we spend on UA-cam tasks related to putting out a video. We have checklists upon checklists…….. I think we need to limit our lists to 10 items. Once those are completed make a new list. I pick up a checklist and get down to item 34 looking for something I want to do and then give up. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I think I just got caught up in the hype of trying to get monetised, without realising it, and that affected how I was putting videos together. Also lost sight of why I was putting the videos together in the first place. I’m in a better place now since identifying what the issue was. To hell with monetisation. If it happens it happens. If it doesn’t it doesn’t. 😊 Hope you guys have a great week! 👍🏻😊
@@FarmsVilla We can definitely relate with you. It takes longer to do tasks because you're taking video. Sometimes one of us, or even both of us, are not in the mood for being on camera. Then there's editing. It takes me 2 days to edit a video. Sometimes I can get through it in one day, but it depends on the raw footage. So it’s a big time commitment.
For checklists I try to prioritize each checklist. Most impotrant task at the top to least important at the bottom for multiple jobs. Also in the order it needs to be done (ie: 1.Parging 2.Painting 3.Install flooring...) It really does help.
It’s hard not to get caught up in the hype for monetization. We got monetized faster than we thought, and then went down the rabbit hole. 🐇 We started looking at the stats and numbers and what other channels are doing. I started watching Think Media for tips to imporove our videos and content and grow the channel. The more I focused on trying to get more views the less views we got. So I sat back and said screw it. We got here just doing what we're doing so lets just continue recording our progress and our lifestyle here. 🤷♀️ (To give some perspective it took us 6 months after being monetized to reach the minimum 70€ payout 😳)

Thanks guys I knew it couldn't just be me that felt this way but it sure helps having your confirmation. You describe what I have been feeling the last few months but didn't click until the other day what I was doing. So screw it I'm making videos the way I want. We are at a basic level a reality show I guess. 🤣 Some areas of our life interests some people while other aspects interest a different set of people. I have recently realised I am fine with that so in a good head space as far as the tube is concerned. I almost said sod it a few weeks ago. 😳 Don't get me wrong I'm fully aware that in order to make any money off UA-cam we need thousands more views than we get. But it is like any competition I enter. I have to win!!! 💪🏻
@@FarmsVilla I'm sure everyone who posts videos feels like this at some point. We went into this thinking we set realistic expectations but it’s easy to get distracted. We noticed early on videos of our sightseeing do significantly worse than renovations and everyday life in Portugal. But sometimes we take a vacation so I'll take a hit on the views to share what we're doing regardless.
Our solar videos generally do better than the garden ones. But I don't want to flog the horse until it is dead. There is only so much you can say about solar. I will keep doing the monthly updates as there are people interested but the next big solar video will be when I make any significant changes or discoveries. I don't bother filming the boring stuff anymore hence no video last week. 🙂
If it helps, I am interested in your solar and off grid specific content. I don't much care for the farming content, but your personalities make them a little more entertaining.
Thank you! That is very helpful. I enjoy messing with Solar but the next project to have anything to do with Solar at this point is the wind turbine that needs to go back up. I'm not going to lie it could be a way off still. 😞 But you never know I could get a Bee in my bonnet and that could change at the drop of a hat! 🤣
