Gideon from criminal minds ❤❤ 8:20
Good point Kahla about the teacher that George has to apologize to. I'm sure Clarence would agree with you. I have seen this movie many times and numerous reactions and I never thought of that!
You got me at the very beginning for choosing the black and white version! 😍
33:17 Kahla: he sneaking. Sam: what are you doing? Gollum: sneaking. Kahla: mm-hmm.
21:48 Fun fact. One of the most powerful elves ever was infatuated with Galadriel's hair and kept asking for a strand. She told him to stop being creepy and piss off because she knew he was gonna be weird with it. This is why it was such a significant gift to give to a dwarf, and why Legolas smiled like that, he 100% knew the story.
Oh, Kahla, I just know you're going to make me cry.❤ great to see new content from your channel. Thank you very much.😊
he's an elf. unlimited magic arrows!!
11:33 🤣 Don't worry. You don't look manish at all. 🤣
$8,000 would be about $150,000 now, I think.
Another great reaction to another great movie
Beautiful reaction
I enjoyed your reaction. Merry Christmas and God bless!
You are the first movie reactor to mention the teacher. :D Merry Christmas. Happy to follow from San Jose, CA. :D
Money in _It's a Wonderful Life_ (1946), adjusted for inflation to United States dollars on Thursday 19 December 2024, according to US Inflation Calculator website: Two amounts one spring afternoon in 1919 • $1,000,000 wished for by George = $18,236,589.60 • 2¢ candy shoelaces for Violet Bick = 36¢ Two amounts in late spring 1928 • $1,000,000 wished for by George with his suitcase = $18,449,883.04 • 3¢ savings-goal on a length of pipe, mentioned in George's talk with his dad = 55¢ One amount in late summer 1928 • $5,000 value of house being built for Ernie Bishop = $92,249.42 Six amounts on one day during bank-run in 1933 (guess at year; can't be earlier than 1932) • $2,000 honeymoon money = $48,537.38 • $242 requested by Tom, shareholder at Building & Loan = $5,873.02 • $300 invested by Ed, shareholder at Building & Loan = $7,280.61 • $20 requested by various shareholders at Building & Loan = $485.37 • $17.50 requested by Mrs. Davis, shareholder at Building & Loan = $424.70 • $2 left from the $2,000 = $48.54 Four amounts in George's meeting with Mr. Potter in 1935 (guess, based on 1933 guess at wedding and on script statement that Sam's invitation to drive to Florida is 2 years after wedding) • $40 weekly earnings for George estimated by Potter = $921.15 • $45 weekly earnings declared by George = $1,036.29 • $10 weekly savings for George estimated by Potter = $230.29 • $20,000 annual salary offered to George by Potter = $460,573.72 (about $8,826.87 a week, or $220.67 an hour at 40 hours a week) Four amounts on Christmas Eve 1945 • $8,000 stolen by Potter = $140,219.11 • $15,000 benefit of insurance on George's life = $262,910.83 • $500 equity in policy insuring George's life = $8,763.69 • $25,000 offered in cable from Sam Wainwright = $438,184.72 As for the long-distance phone-call from Washington, D.C., on Christmas Eve 1945, about Harry's impending return to Bedford Falls: the charge is too complex to figure out easily (it would depend on time of day, the day of the week (Monday), the length of call, perhaps the precise location of Bedford Falls in New York State, &c.); but the call probably cost a few dollars for a few minutes-and $3.00 in 1945 equals $52.58 today. I don't see how George was able to save $2,000 for the honeymoon; but maybe Mary had a lot of savings, and maybe they got gifts. I think it was smart of the writers to choose $8,000 for the amount lost to Potter's thievery. Even not adjusted for inflation, but just treated as $8,000 in 2024, it holds up as 'enough money to be seriously concerned about' and 'enough money for someone to go to prison for embezzling it', even after 78 years.
"Sir, you were about to get half that from Potter." You're the only person I've ever heard point that out.
omg! this movie is my favorite Christmas tradition. when I was a kid, we used to watch it on TV every Christmas Eve while decorating our Christmas Tree and baking cookies for Santa. Thanks for sharing your reaction with us! Merry Christmas, Kahla! 🎄🎅💖
11:08 The black band on George's upper left arm is how you can tell that his father has died. Wearing a black armband is a sign of mourning, a substitute for wearing all black.
Saturday Night Live did a skit of where they figured out Potter stole the money and went over as an angry mob to confront him. Turned out Potter was faking being confined to a wheelchair and could stand. It was hilarious hearing Dana Carvey playing the part of George Baily saying, "Harry. Mary. Hold him" as he proceeds to punch him in the stomach. Dana does a great job of imitating Jimmy Stewarts voice. Potter was played by Jon Lovitz. You took his eyes? There were at least a few other pairs that were better 😂
Apart from being a bit insulting to librarians, this is an amazing movie.
I know it was 1946, but Mary being a *gasp* "old maid" is wild 😂 But kinda sweet, even in a life where George didn't exist he was still The One, and she didn't settle.
I've seen this movie a hundred times. and i had never really looked at it from the angle that Andy could use the fake person he created as an actual identity, other than the obvious way to withdraw the money. I hadnt considered that he would use the alias to cross the border or possibly rent/buy a car or other things he would need an identity for.
Annie had the best lines.
.................... Did you know there is a very short Parody Film of "It's a Wonderful Life" starring a cast of actual LIVE INSECTS? It's a riot - great Family entertainment with a SURPRISE GUEST STAR at the end - IT NEEDS TO GO VIRAL ua-cam.com/video/QdOE0ziPfWM/v-deo.html ........................................
It wasn't a bad likeness of Michael Jackson. It was a Max Headroom version of Michael Jackson; all the characters in the TV were Max Headroom versions of real people.
8,000 in 1946 was 130,000 today😮
Two more Stephen King movies, "Misery" and "The Mist". The later is kinda' cheap, but the ending is brutal. And for music, "Road to Perdition". I didn't like it on the first watch, but it grew on me.
Jimmy Stewart was a WW 2 hero, gave up his film carreer for a few years as a bomber pilot. theis was hisfristfilmafterthe war, and he was suffering fomr PTSD. He used it in many scenes, was niminated for an Academy Award but did not win. You can obviously see each scene where PTSD comes in.
Back then they could not tell if a woman was carrying a boy or girl, they did not have the technology.
Donna Reed [Mary] became a big star. She won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in From Here to Eternity [1953]. she had her own TV Sitcom from 1958-1966. acotr Jimmy Hawkns was 6 years old, played little Tommy Bailey, sitting on Jimmy Stewart's lap putting tinsel on his head. He became an actor full time when older, appeared in movies and TV shows a lot in the late 1950's throughthe 1960's. The Donna Reed Show, had him on many times as the teenage "Scotty" the friend of the Tv daughter and son. I'm sure Donna Reed and her producer husband Tony Owen, they controlled their own show insisted on using him and recommended him to other shows...pays to have connections and be good at what you do. Jimmy is still alive at 84, one of a very few left that appeared in It's a Wonderful Life. ..
At one point Jimmy Hawkins was producer of a live TV reading of the It's a Wonderful Life script.

This is the first time I've ever watched your channel. I'm a super freak fan about this movie. I have watched everybody that I can find. That is reacted to this and I think I'm finally getting to a point where I can watch it without cryi like you. R reaction style. I want ahead and subscribed to your channel. Hope to see more. You do a good job and it doesn't hurt that you're so premaybe we'll talk again. Don't worry, I'm A71-year-old man. Who has our dumb getting out of his chair😊
Mr Potter is Lionel Barrymore, Drew Barrymore's great uncle. His younger brother famous actor John Barrymore was Drew's great grandfather.
His mother was Georgiana Drew Barrymore and his father was Maurice Barrymore. Modern Drew Barrymore is named after her great, great grandmother
And Lionel AKA Mr. Potter, talked Jimmy into taking the role after WW2. Loving this community.
I have autographed photos of the 2 daughters Janie and Zuzu who are both in their 80's. Janie lives near me and has a room in her house dedicated to this film filled with memorabilia.
That's wonderful. I would love to see it.
I just stumbled upon your channel but binged your reactions to the LOTR movies and instantly subbed. You are very intelligent and catch details most people don’t pick up on their first watch. I enjoyed your reactions and look forward to checking out more on your channel
I'm glad you enjoyed the reactions, welcome to the channel!
You now whats funny, Pottersville is actually thriving under Potter. LOL.
Thanks!
I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for the super thanks
Merry Christmas. This always makes Christmas ... Christmas 🎄. Your a beautiful young lady. You remind me of one of my favorite entrainers, Ms. Donna Summers.
Great reaction. I remember this being on TV multiple times a day during my childhood/early adult life. At the time, I did not realize this was due to Republic Pictures failing to renew it's rights for the movie. This resulted in it becoming public domain in the 70s and thus the legend was born (as the film itself was a flop). Lasted until 1992 when Republic Pictures regained the rights through their music and book rights. I remember complaining that it was on so often, but now I never get to see it on TV and miss what was once a Christmas standard. PS, I think you might like "The Ref" as a Christmas comedy. I think it has been under rated as not many people speak about it.
Maximus killed meant gladiators, many had a similar story to his. Many of them also had their families ripped from them. They all were slaves, forced to fight. He killed them, ending their own personal journeys for vengeance and justice. I’ve seen this movie 20 times, I’ve never thought about that until now.
Another great Christmas movie well worth a look is remember the night by the brilliant Preston sturges and starring Barbara stanwick. Watch it. You will than me later.
Uncle Billy's pet crow was played by Jimmy thr Crow, a trained animal actor who was also in "The Wizard of Oz," as the crow who wasn't scared of the Scarecrow.
