Not 100% sure, but I've done a similar search for streaming of The Special Relationship, a 2010 film about the Clintons, the Blairs and the beginning of the forever regime change wars, and it's not available.
Probably political censorship. As said there's a good collaboration with the russians in the movie. And that's not allowed...
This is why you need to stick with your physical media.
100%. I've bought more physical media in the last year than in the previous five because of this.
i'm more of a book girl so i'll probably buy it on thrift books and read it
You'll have better luck finding the book than you will have renting the movie. That is a certainty.
Its not a film - its a documentary from the future
and a big, big warning to us all
Did you ask Richard on FB? He's usually pretty good at answering questions
I don't do FB.
The geopolitics thing seems unlikely - It was on the BBC several times in the 70s and that was the height of the cold war.
I think we're in far deeper than the cold war now.
Actualy the movie is an Adaptation. PAUL saw the 1971 version wich impressed him.Holywood often gets impressed by some European movie wich only had a fraction of the budget modern us holywood has.I think the original was called Solaris and it deals whit psychologist and a space crew that has gone completely nuts
You're referring to the Russian film Solaris written by Polish author Stanislaw Lem. The only real similarity is that both films happen in space.
Event horizon was one of the most terrifying movies from the 90's, Scared the hell out of me
Absolutely one of the best of the 1990s.
Personally, I go with option #3 but I see where you're going with option #5. I remember back when HIV and AIDS were all you heard about in the news and at that time if you wanted to be tested the only option was to go in for a blood draw. Then a company came out with a saliva test. The thing was, because it was felt that people in the US would freak out and think the virus could be transmitted by saliva if it could be detected in saliva, it was never made available in the US. The people that make these decisions seem to be the same ones always running around claiming "the sky is falling" if you remember your nursery rhymes.
liked , sub, and commented :) keep it up
Thank you and thanks for watching.
Hey 👋 Horror Mike 🎉❤Greetings 🙏 from Raleigh, North Carolina 🙏 😀
Greetings K Ojo, see ya tonight!
5 mins in for what Kurt said
Great video! Bone Tomahawk is not for the faint of heart lol.
Kurt the Disney Kid I grew up with. I guess that's why I seem to like most every film he's in that I can think of. To me he is a good example of 'Hollywood done right'.
Agreed, Kurt Russell should be a standard example of Hollywood. Sadly, he is an exception to the corrupt status quo.
Any chance we might get to see the complete version of Event Horizon? How on earth did the extra footage get lost?
That's a good question, it seems likely that someone from the Event Horizon post production crew has the complete unedited film.
Used to fall asleep laughing my ass off to this goofy ass movie every night
Can’t remember if I saw this in the theater or when it came out on video but I found it both mesmerizing and disturbing. Wasn’t sure if I could watch it again but ended up buying the dvd; still love something about it as I find madness and horrors of the mind fascinating. I can only watch it every several years unlike Soldier which is an utterly fantastic, touching, and inspiring film I could watch once a year. Huge fan of Russell since I first watched The World’s Strongest Man as a kid in the 70’s.
Event Horizon is a physical media must for sci-fi horror fans. Soldier is quite good as well.
In mentioning Andersons' filmography you stated that Lance Hendrickson starred in AVP, he might have been the most recognizable name, but Sanaa Lathan was the main character.
Yes, but you must admit, without Henrikson, AVP would have been worse.
The irony of this being narrated by ai
Hello, fellow human! I can assure you that this video was narrated by a real person such as yourself.
its the NWO making sure you love AI and not hate it even though its the antichrist and will be the end of humanity there is no if or butt about it.
Sounds a little bit like Person of Interest that was on during the same time frame as the NRO's Sentient Program started then declassified. Strange.
Want a good movie idea, make a movie about a criminal/corrupt organization that abducts and implant parolees, mental health patients, addicts, other criminals and dissidents assigning each subject a local control group that's studied them (possibly even knows them) to monitor and activates their implants, influencing their lives while feeding all the data to police and other correctional agencies that sends the data to a mainframe where an ai studies and categorizes the information. When they get all the data they can from a person's brain responses, they stimulate other emotions or situations to try activate other regions or synapses of the brain to study and map. That's a movie you'll never see, because it strikes a lot of nerves.
Event Horizon is just Warhammer 40k
7:30 EMP will destroy electronic function in devices set to operate within its transmission spectra. Cell phones will still be useful as palm computers, but their networks for external communication will die. If SKYNET were isolated like such a cell phone, then it would be able to locally administer preparation of its Terminators (or whatever other maintenance systems it had) for their recovery of the network. Terminator X employed local administration technology in "her" control of non-Terminator systems; this is what I mean. As for the logic behind deletion of that fine bit of cinematography, I suspect it human rather than digital. The Russian Federation "Dead Hand" defense system is purported to be capable of waging WWIII in the absence of human intervention. Universal may have been asked to assist in mitigating the political effectiveness of Polkovnik Putin's daring threats. Asked by whom? Left or Right? I believe that either or both might gain by Universal's compliance. Hasta la vista, baby. Nihilism Over Demonism ... Obey Truth
But Skynet wasn't isolated. Much like Colossus or Proteus in Demon Seed, a supercomputer needs a massive system in order to be a "supercomputer." Without a main hub "neural net" it would be reduced to a common hand held domestic appliance.
I wish Paul W S Anderson would make another film like Event Horizon.
That might be great but I'd be weary about making a film like Event Horizon in this day and age.
Remember the Geller Field before making a jump. Remember the Geller Field...
Sphere is underrated.
Crichton had quite a good run with film adaptations of his books.
@@horrormike I was also gonna say Virus is worth a watch. I liked it.
I have considered this movie a masterpiece since I saw it on HBO. It's never been off my list of best horror movies of all time 😍
Demon Seed is another good one from the 70s, the best Koontz adaptation to date although I do like Phantasms a lot 😃
My favourite film after John carpenter's the The Thing.
Both The Thing and Event Horizon are tops in sci-fi horror.
What do you mean? I'm watching it right now on Cinego. (yeah.. you made me curious)
who WHO ultimately has control with streaming?? and WHY would specific titles be removed? it aint looking good !!!
you would think the companies do, as does Universal in the case of Colossus...but who really knows?
I wonder if there's an AI secretly learning out in the wild or the past several weeks have been just a perfect storm of coincidences coming together. A couple of weeks ago UA-cam have been recommending me videos and shorts released from a year ago. Last week I was bombarded with old UA-cam videos about the series Babylon 5. I thought I was caught up in the usual "related" algorithm when I clicked on one of those videos but I know I didn't search for it. Then during the weekend I opened up Thingiverse to look for models to 3D print and there were actually several Babylon 5 space craft models just recently added. Could be pure coincidence that always happen to me. When I was a teen I would get interested with a certain topic in the library and suddenly I would get extra media appearing on TV. For example if I started reading about submarines then in the coming weeks public TV would have a week or month long marathon showing movies involving submarines. If I started reading about WW2 Japanese aviation will be accompanied by a marathon of WW2 movies with the same theme. Also last weekend I was browsing through Netflix and on the "Watch Again..." area is the series Travelers. I love this series that has one of the few good AI in them. I didn't click it because I already finished it and watched Bruce Willis's Mercury Rising instead. Yesterday I learned about the meaning of "short bus" from a UA-cam comment on a different topic and I remembered seeing one in the movie. And earlier today Google highlighted articles about the creator of Travelers mulling the possibility of a Traveler 2.0.
Event Horizon is just Hellraiser in space.
and Hellraiser is just a ripoff of Lovecraft's From Beyond.
thx for the tip, still available though
not for rent it ain't
@@horrormike also hard to find deeper..
Alot of these movies in the 70s. A.I. and robots taking over people and jobs. Sky Net. Anyway humans need us to make the tough choices.
Where we going...we won`t need eyes to see
Another great thing about Event Horizon, excellent dialog.
Great vid. Little off topic, but I was always amazed how Carpenter & Russell absolutely killed it with Escape from NY, to follow it up with complete garbage that is Escape from LA. (Ending setup was good story wise, not onscreen). Check out Bone Tomahawk if you are a K Russell fan.
Bone Tomahawk is one of the best films of the 21st century hands down, definitely the best horror-western ever made, and there have been dozens.
@@horrormike Absolutely. It's a great western for an hour, then takes a hard turn into cannibal Native American ultra-violence...what's not to love? 😁👍
@@jimrogers2089 it's one hell of a flick, makes a lot of modern horror films look weak in comparison.
Watched it on acid. i would strongly reccommend no one else does this
yeah that would be scary af
As a veteran of such activity I didn't have to. I expected some SERIOUS space mystery because of the trailers, then they served up some comical haunted house in space and I felt very 'ripped-off'. Film I have tripped to include Jacob's Ladder, The Life of Pi, Return of the Jedi, Sucker Punch, The Sound of Music, among many, many others. Amazing way to experience film - you miss NOTHING.
oh boy... I saw The Mummy 2 on acid. That was fun. But dam... Event Horizont, that takes gutts.
@@evandrolima1724 It wasnt planned lol. i dont think i came back
The fact that they removed this movie from ALL THE STREAMINGS SERVICES really scarys me!😮😮
I still can't find it to rent online, something is up!
Event Horizon is a terrific film, fantastic cast and the homages to 'Alien' are great and it is very much a science-fiction classic along with Alien, The Thing, Blade Runner, Dune among many others!
Agreed, Event Horizion ranks way up there!
Alien, The Thing, and Event Horizon are my all-time favorite sci-fi horror movies. 🤘
They are definitely in the top tier.
Event Horizon's twist makes it pretty unique, and my favorite sci-fi/horror second only to Alien. Glad to see it's getting more recognition over time.
I would definitely put it in the top 10 scifi/horror films of all time. Amazing that is did so poorly when it was originally released, but that happens to a lot of films.
@@horrormike There were apparently some post-production shenanigans going on and it didn't get the publicity it needed. I only glancingly heard about it hitting theaters and had to watch it on VHS.
@@Canalus You're right, I don't think it had much of a theatrical run. Probably out for a few weeks, then gone.
@horrormike You want a underrated film. Watch Sphere.
It's to close to Alex, she's supost to stay a secret. But she is out there. Defending all of us.
Great video Mike, I didn’t know that! I restore and recreate medieval armour for a living. In the early 2000’s I was contacted by a production company and asked if I could make a ‘Polish Winged-Hussar’ armour for the film ‘1612’. The idea was, I make a master suit in steel and they then take moulds and produce 42 identical suits in polyurethane. I finally delivered the steel suit to FBFX in London, and as this was my first film, I was trying to be really cool and professional, and act as if this was just a normal day for me! All was going well until I walked into the directors office to collect my cheque, because standing next to his desk was Justin’s space suit from Event Horizon, and I freaked out and totally blew my cover!! 🙈🤣 Turns out they made all the suits and a lot else besides. They have since made the suits for The Martian, Alien Covenant, and of course my favourite…. Prometheus! Best wishes to you from a secret location in a French forest! 🇬🇧⚔️🇺🇸 Edit: Subscribed
That is amazing, Nigel Carren, what a great story. I checked out and subbed to your channel, you do incredible work! I have to see that film 1612. Tubi, a free movie platform, has many great Russian historical epics, unfortunately not that one. But I'll find it!
@@horrormikeThank you Mike. I am honored to have the pleasure of your company Sir👍 Yes, I have made the armour for a few historical foreign films now. My first impression was always Russia and Poland seem more concerned with getting the costumes and the locations absolutely right, and would favour realism over sprinkling movie-magic. Anyway, I am delighted to have found your channel, and I am now going to binge-listen to it here in the workshop, as I finish a jousting armour. Best wishes to you, keep up the great work. ⚒️🌞⚒️
@@nigelcarren thank you, I appreciate it. If you're game, I'd like to get you on the live show and we can look at and discuss the pros and cons of sword and sorcery/fantasy epics. Then you could show off some of your amazing work! Typically I do Friday nights Live but occasionally I will do a Sunday noon show which would probably be better considering that you're 5-6 hours ahead. In any case, if the idea appeals to you, lmk and we can figure something out!
Seems to still be on Vimeo.
Good work sir but the pauses after introducing each of the films are too long.
You're right, those shots do drag a little.
