  • Fantastic FEARS Pre-code HORROR Comic Book Review and Iron Pressing.
Horror Mike takes a good look at issue number one of Farrell's fine golden age comic series FANTASTIC FEARS featuring a wicked witch cover by Robert Webb.
I also try to get some humidity damage waves out of the cover and book with an inexpensive home iron pressing method. Did it work?

Hi Jacob, it's the Pete Simetti method. He's got a tutorial on his channel about pressing comics with an iron and teflon sheet, pretty cool low budget DIY method although I think a standard press is the best option. @ComicBookRadio

Hey Mike! Love watching your experimentation on couple hundred dollar comic! 😀 Ironing works, and it's what some of us used to do back in the day, along with the encyclopedia press. My mom used to have one of those old heavy irons that worked like a charm.

Amazingly enough @LeadPaint1 that copy of Fantastic Fears cost me 97 bucks, a pretty good dealeven though it's very low grade. The iron worked fairly well but eventually when I have a spare 150-200 bucks laying around, I'll get an actual press.

Hi Tim, yes it did work pretty well but I think a standard press would do a better job (although more expensive). I followed instructions on a video "How to Press Your Own Comic Books with an Iron!" from the UA-cam channel @ComicBookRadio

Long ago, I gave up on restoring my books. After an attempt at removing tape caused severe damage. Leave it to more intricate, craftsmen specializing in exacting details I don't want to delve in😂📔

I hear you, Ricky, it's often a daunting task to delve into the world of comic book repair and restoration. I do like the idea of getting very low grade books to "fix" because they're cheap and it won't kill me if I wreck them 😆
