My collection of videos of transportation subjects (mostly railroad, but also marine & other) in the waning years of the analog era before mega-mergers, intermodal replacing manifest freight, techno-toaster locomotives, and the proliferation of loser art on railroad equipment.
In those years I also managed to record some of the soon-to-disappear traditional amusement parks with their wooden roller coasters and miniature railroads. My goal is to share these experiences with those who remember them and miss them, and those who came along later and would like a glimpse of the past.

Had to correct the date year due to misreading the date code on the original file. Thanks to a Navasota resident, for noticing a detail in the video that conflicted with the earlier date.

Sept. 22, 2018 I thought I would try my hand at recording a custom car meet in Vacaville, California at the Lagoon Valley Park. A DJ was playing copyrighted music which I had to replace with appropriate UA-cam music.

This period had the most pre- and post- merger paint schemes, incl. Haverty warbonnets. This was also before remotes and just after gensets were introduced.

Thanks for uploading this video, and I'm looking forward to watching your other videos as well. * subscribed *
What a great time to be there. The SO hauled so much lumber. Great engines, great sounds, loved those SP P-3 horns, and NO graffiti!! Wonderful video!
love those old good days, as a kid i remember crossing through the tracks and seeing those SP SD9s by sonoma its so sad how now they just sit and rot now, those were the days, love it
Grew up in this park. Great memories. I still remember the chicken that played tic tac toe. 😂
Thanks so much for UL this Fullerton Station video from 1987.
First year back to SC after taking 2 years off from college.
Whoa, look at those antique flatcars with archbar trucks and poling pockets. I hope they have evaded the scrapper's torch over the past four decades.
Love the old gons with plain bearings. Seems this region was slow to ditch plain bearings: just two counties over and nine years later I saw my first and last "wild" plain-bearinged car, a bulkhead flat.
Back in the good ol' days when Southern Pacific and DRGW were two separate entities and notably not suffering from the form of jaundice that they have been for almost three decades. (Even better if there had been no mergers or reorganizations post-1953, but at least there were more than six Class Ones to choose from).
This was before metrolink existed
Fullerton train station looks different back then.
Thankyou
No Chem trails in the sky and non if the degenerate graffiti better days.
This is a pretty neat railroad in the state of Ohio.
Blackpearlguy,That is good railroad,I appreciate so much Santa Fe.I have Santa Fe O scale layout.Good Era.!
I never get tired of watching this video of Atsf and the espee on the Tehachapi pass back in the 1980s. I rather see this than the BNSF and the UP.
One of these MUNI Vertol LRVs was featured in Nash Bridges in early 1997 at Embarcadero Station. I imagine that was near the end of their service life with MUNI.
Sd45 in SP scheme.👍Looks even better in Demo.
❤Awesome memories!!
Better days. Now if you go and record the trolley going from south hills to station square, I'm sure the cops will show up asking what youre doing. Asking for ID. Tryng to get you to jail somehow.
0:01 & 2:29 sweet engine sound
Never understood the little yellow roof beacon trend. The headlights are more visible 100% and drown it out
Former rule number one; never film next to a damn gated crossing.
I love watching the PCC’s crossing the track switches! So very cool! PWG
The good old days of YL
Great video thanks for sharing
Thanks for your great videos!
Graffiti free =awesome!

This place was magic, and it sickens me that state, or local governments didn't step in and save this Landmark! It was nationally famous, there was nothing like it, and they just let it die. My grandparents went there in the 1940s. All branches of my family, made it an annual destination. It was Paradise. Disgusting
WORKING FOR SANTA FE AT THIS TIME , I DID A LOT OF WORK ON THE 5855 , CENTERED AROUND THE ENGINE, AN CATERPILLAR 3612 V-12 ENGINE CAPABLE OF 5000 HORSEPOWER! A MECHANICS MISTAKE BROUGHT HER TO SANTA FE ARGENTINE DIESEL SHOP, WHERE I WAS TO MAKE REPAIRS TO ENABLE IT TO BE PUT ON DISPLAY AT AN CHICAGO RAILROAD SUPPLIER CONVENTION ! IN THE PROCESS OF DOING THIS, I CREATED AN MINOR PRODUCTION CHANGE ON THE CAMSHAFT DRIVE TRAIN TO MAKE THE ENGINE MORE EASILY REPAIRABLE WHEN USED IN LOCOMOTIVE APPLICATIONS! THIS ENGINE DERATED TO 4300 HORSEPOWER WAS BY FAR THE MOST POWERFUL DIESEL LOCOMOTIVE I HAVE WORKED ON! THE 645 V 20 ENGINE AT ITS BEST AT 3600 HP WAS A VERY SICK SISTER IN COMPARISON!! THE 645 ENGINE BURNED 180 GALLONS PER HOUR, WHILE THE CAT EASILY MADE 25% BETTER FUEL MILEAGE!! KEEP THEM ROLLING BROTHERS! 👍👍
Good stuff indeed, are there any videos/recordings of her running or at idle anywhere ? Id love to hear how a 45-2 with a Cat sounds
Would have loved to hear that 5855 run, also woulda loved to ask that GE " engineer how come those B39s didnt even make it 10 years before the ATSF sent them off to the torch 🤔
THE B-39s WERE AN VERY EARLY VERSION OF THE DASH-8 SERIES, AND THE FINAL VERSION BEING THE 500 CLASS WIDE CAB FLEET ON THE SF! SHORTLY AFTER AQUIRING ALL THE DASH 8 4 AXLE UNITS SANTA FE STANDARDIZED ALL NEWER UNITS WITH 6 AXLE UNITS , EXCLUSIVELY!
Thank you for sharing these classic train videos, back when the SDs and Dash 8s were dominant! And I was Born in 88 too 😁
Such beautiful footage
Great Video! I love how you caught this WHOLE scene. Helpers. Gyralites. Scanner. Panning. HOWLING EMD s....GREAT STUFF !
Ah, yes. The good old days. I miss riding the El Cap and The Chief out of Union Station in LA. It was a fantastic ride from LA to Chicago back then.
Saw this a lot of times when I was little, visiting Myer's Lake Park. Seemed creepy to me. Appropriate for an old Laugh in the Dark.
Wish they would have never closed
3:23 hmm.. i feel like i've seen it before but i dont know where..
Wow, That was Before The San Diego Trolley Yard And 12th & imperial was Under Construction And UTC.
