All I can say is Union Pacific has the best array of power. Even down in my neighborhood in Anaheim they run huge road units and turn them. There is two branch lines off the Y Two GP40s service each line in sets. 4 to 6 train movements is not rare. When the huge road units come in around 12:00 p.m. with their horns you know they are in town and a lot of crossing gates to go over

Thanks Jeff. I was able to hold the brakeman slot on this job for a little while before it was abolished and it gave me a rare opportunity to get these shots. That "street pacing" use to occur fairly frequently but usually with Amtrak. I've been enjoying some of your '90's midwest posts.

Saw a few cars from the Algoma central railway. I believe these are from way up in northern Ontario Canada!!

In the mid to late 1980's maybe even up to 1990 - I was a young lad and I recall there used to be a twenty or twenty five car manifest that was composed of solely TTX bulkhead flatcars that had a "scaffold" arrangement to haul truck camper shells and I believe if memory serves me right they had union pacific decals on the exterior sides of the bulkheads ..... do you have any videos that pertain to the rail lines that run through and from North Long Beach to McDonnell Douglas - they would store these Bulkhead flatcars (empties) on a siding before Carson street. There was a local that always had a caboose - always until maybe 1991. I remember a flat car/gondola/flat car/ gondola manifest with wing parts as well the car carrier sized enclosed train cars that carried airplane parts I recall one of them even had a McDonnell Douglas emblem and airplane imprinted on the exterior.

I'm not familiar with the line from Long Beach to McDonnell-Douglas. One of my Colton Crossing posts shows an eastbound SP freight with a Vought Aircraft car with images of vintage aircraft on it (located at about 17mins. 20secs): ua-cam.com/video/pwo36vdxY-0/v-deo.html
