Yes, those are ex-Metroliner cars. They had been modified for use in California with beefed-up road crossing collision protection and pass-through diaphragms.
Probably so far the only known footage from the 90's of an Amtrak Dash 8 on the San Diegans.
I know they ran on the San Joachins and the Capitols after that with the Horizon cars. Thanks for the comment.
