We Need to Talk About Tony Martin & Black Sabbath
Over the past few years I've developed quite the appreciation for Tony Martin's time with Black Sabbath. This is a long overdue video to address that, as well as to go through the unboxing of the latest Anno Domini vinyl boxset that compiles a lot of the material from that era of the band.

Darkthrone recently released their new 2024 album “It Beckons Us All…” and I want to cover it as we’ve discussed Darkthrone on the channel before. Fenriz and Nocturno Culto have been on something of a streak recently, with this recent album feeling like the third in a trilogy of excellent albums, alongside Eternal Hails and Astral Fortress. I think people can hate things in the moment, and over time realize that they miss it. Black metal was a big part of his life, and I can totally buy that revisiting that part of his life with his memoirs made him miss doing black metal. I personally think the new tracks are overall great, although they do feel like rough draft. My suspicion though is that he's using the Burzum (new) channel as a place to put his rough drafts, and he's going to put the final album with the polished tracks on the regular burzum accounts. And I'm also wondering how much the synth stuff has influenced his style as a black metal musicican. But yeah, I think you just didn't like the songs and are jumping to conclusions about Varg just making new stuff for a cash grab.

I used to work in an old store that sold metal and punk t-shirts and whatnot, and I used to borrow my boss' ipod and he had Tyr on it. I'd play it over and over again, and I thought the guy singing was Dio, because he sounded nothing like Ozzy. It borders on cheesy power metal at times, but I still love it nonetheless. @linesinwax4886 Amazing video! Thank you for making it! If this helps your perspective, I'm a Goth. I saw DIJ in the 90s in West Palm Beach, S.FL at Respectables. Great show, great night. Fred Burger from Propaganda Magazine (whom also likes to flirt with these themes) was there. My GF ended up in a issue from that night covering the show. At that time West Palm and pretty much the whole US underground had a Neo Nazi problem. Could not go to a punk or hardcore show without a group of a dozen or so Nazi Skins showing up and starting shit. Often ended in a brawl. Punks & SHARPS would fight them. I'm an exception to the generally non-violent goth guy, so I would help them and became friends with those subcultures. The Goths were generally dispassionately, progressively political. Certainly anti-fascist. We listened to DIJ at home and in clubs. At the above DIJ show, not a single Nazi Skin showed up, nor to any of our clubs were they were played. Which was a rare thing in underground venues at the time. FFWD Around 30ish years. I got excited about DIJ touring and coming to Asheville NC, where I'd been living for many years and doing goth events etc. Then I hear they got canceled cause they were fascists. I was shocked. I was trying to convince people they were not and just flirt with icons and symbology to be provocative. So respect for making this video that fairly explains things much more eloquently than I could. I still love and play DIJ at goth clubs/events. I will still fight a Nazi skin if need be, though thankfully they are very rare these days, thanks to the Punks and SHARPS.

In my opinion, like others say, he’s just bankrupt. I mean, he doesn’t have a real job that provides a steady income and some people willingly avoid financially supporting him (which I also try to do, for obvious reasons). I suppose that he couldn’t get 100% of the royalties from his actual Burzum account so he made this Burzum New thing to be able to get 100% of the royalties and therefore make more money. It might also be a marketing strategy because the stupid “Burzum New” name makes people curious about the change. About the music being his or not, I honestly think it’s his because he’s talked about it and I don’t see why it shouldn’t be his, the guitar is most definitely the “Roots Rock” guitar from Garage Band with the treble thingy activated, and the vocals sound like they’re made by him (I suppose). It sounds like he’s done one layer of spoken words and some layers of whispering because he can no longer do vocals like the did them before jail, which makes sense. The only thing that might make the bankruptcy theory sound untrue is the fact that you need money to publish books (as I’m pretty sure that all of his books are self published because who the heck wants to publish them anyways)
