Thank you for the wonderful content !! Love seeing your appreciation for this one of a kind band, that we all share our love for !!
Also, love seeing people's different preferences in terms of their albums !!
I'd definitely advocate for XIII as their best, most mature, complete, peak, masterpiece album.

XIII is definitely brilliant, it stands alone in their discography I think. It’s definitely Jeff’s best album. Guy is unstoppable on that one!

fantastic detailed ranking, XX and XIII were also part of my teenage years growing up back in 2002ish agree with many of your opinions. I seen them live during the savior sorrow tour, I remember being wary of waylon at first. I can say that album has grown somewhat on me unlike beautiful stories for ugly children... that album is unfortunate like you mentioned- Your soul is mine was released around that era so theirs that. I have to give their remix albums another listen its been years. speaking of one-off songs have you heard Among the Crows? it was released during TR&TB era.
I'm with you on A wonderful life, it's a great album. I think some fans just want to write it off since majority of the members left, have been replaced. But for what it is, it came out very good including the bonus tracks. My ranking (minus remix albums) from least to favorite would be: BSFUC, Savior Sorrow, self titled, TR&TB, AWL, XIII, Superbuick, M3, and the 'compilation' XX.

Your Soul Is Mine was a good tune - and the video was cool too.
It was really easy to write off or not even bother with A Wonderful Life. I’m glad I gave it a chance. I’m looking forward to what they do next, but if J Mann is out again like people say, who knows what it’ll be like.

"Mommy" has got to be one of, if not my favorite Mushroomhead song (Out of the whole discography, not just the self-titled album). I think I can sum up the song in 2 words: disturbingly beautiful. The lyrics are quite hard to listen to, because of the horror of sexual abuse on display throughout. The synth work is friggin' AWESOME. It is hauntingly beautiful. That's all I have to say about the song. I friggin' love this song.

awesome Video G!! i think the bulk of their best stuff comes on XIII and Savior Sorrow, i didn't have the disc to notice sound quality problems !!! i thought Beautiful Stories was a good release on CD, it even touched on the older sound from Superbuick on a few songs !! man it really fit the vibe of that fall and winter of 2010... i agree they did mix up between straight riffs and more chuggy stuff .. and softer songs .. it didn't have as much fun moments or over the edge stuff they are capable of .. I can totally see that view .. at first i preferred the heavier songs but that whole CD grew on me !! .... Eternal , Almost Home, Kill Tommorow, Becoming Cold and Erase The Doubt are 5 of their Top Tier jams overall .. but THERE ARE MORE ...lot's more lololol ROCK ON !!!!!

First time I knew anything about Mushroomhead was an ad for XX in one of those Metal Magazines. I lived down the steeet from Tower Records and would spend hours in the Magazine section often. As soon saw that album cover, I walked over the rock/metal section and picked up a copy with my allowance given to me by my parents(timing couldn't have been more perfect👌) Got home, put the cd in my sony discman and the opening of "Before I die" blew my 13yr old mind away!😆 I listened to the shit outta that record! I was super pumped when XIII came out, but on my first listen I was a bit bummed because I felt the keyboards were lacking on that record(I love the whole MH aestetic but it was the keys that really hooked me). I remember downloading various tracks from limewire from some of their 3 previous records and absolutely loving them! Simpleton is on of my favorites(love that piano intro👍). Dude, the 1st time I listened to Savior Sorrow I thought I bought a shitty bootleg(especially how huge XIII sounds)🤣 The production was so fucking bad, I couldn't believe what was listening to! 12 Hundred is great opener but that guitar tone/recording is abysmal!🤦🏻‍♂️ I honestly thought they were demo recordings at first🤣 I finally jumped ship once Shmotz left and stopped following them entirely. I heard about AWL in 2022 along with the news of a new singer replacing Jeffrey Nothing and of course my curiosity got the best of me. A few decent songs but overall not my thing. Huge positive I can give is the production! Never thought I'd hear that again after those last 3 records. Anyway, this was super long but yeah, just wanted to throw my 2 cents because your experience from your MH Retrospective vid(amazing BTW👊) is eerily similar to mine as a MH fan from the US in the 00s). I will say "Along the way" from the scorpion king soundtrack is hands down my favorite Mushroomhead track ever. The production sounds so grand and epic! Pure perfection, imo👍 Keep up the great content!👊

Both of your Mushroomhead videos were really good! I like your rankings, I think they'd pretty much reflect my own.
I actually started watching this one soon after it came out, but came back to drop this comment. Also didn't realize until after the first MRH video, "Oh, yeah, this guy made that Death in June video."
Get ready for a long comment (heh, sorry), as I don't get to talk Mushroomhead.
I didn't get into MRH until a couple years (I think) after Savior Sorrow, when I was like 12. JMann was already long gone by that point, of course. However, I started with XX, and absolutely loved it. I played the shit out of XX, listened to some of the other tracks from the first 3 albums, and only a little of XIII (should remedy that sometime). I was not interested in anything after XIII. JMann was gone, and everything was just so different, in a way I didn't really like. I think I heard a little of one or two tracks from Savior Sorrow, and was like "Yeah, no." Because of that, I didn't pay any attention to current Mushroomhead.
A couple years after getting into MRH, I got into electro-industrial music, and electronic music in general. I played guitar, but mostly switched to synths, and am a synth guy to this day. That's part of what's so good about (old, and certain new, I guess) MRH - the electronic elements. Without them, they'd potentially just be another generic metal band. Which I have no interest in, heh.
So as time went on, more stuff came out from MRH, but I wasn't interested. I didn't even know JMann had come back for the longest time - I don't think I found out until years after his return, haha. I think it may have been pandemic times already when I found out. So that was cool, and I thought one of the newer tracks I heard with him sounded decent, but it seemed like the electronic element may have been gone - so it's good to hear it's apparently not.
Though it does suck that Shmotz is gone; he was one of the most important parts of the band. Of course, Jeff being gone sucks too - people may make fun of his voice, but it's distinctive, and was part of what made MRH what it was. Along with JMann, so at least he's back. A solo project from Shmotz (or another project in general) would be really nice, especially if it's some electro-industrial shit. Apparently, the genre is one of their influences, but I'm not sure which member(s). I'd guess Shmotz, but I dunno.
So I'm down to check out newer MRH sometime, I think. I don't believe I've even listened to "Qwerty," and that was a while back.
I feel like if it just becomes the Skinny Show, though - no other original or long time members left - that may truly be the end of my real interest. But I dunno; let's hope it doesn't devolve into that. Abandoning the electronic aspect would also lose my interest in newer stuff.
Annnyyyyway. What's your favorite look(s) of theirs, if you have one? Mine's no surprise - probably the more home-made looking X face one featured on the cover of XX. The masks, goggles, and suits - damn good aesthetic. I also like the different and more "polished" looking X face masks from roughly around that time, though. My favorite for JMann is (of course) the paint; it's so simple but works so well.
Also, I love that they had stage dancers, heh. Roxy did a great job, and she seems really cool.
Oh, and sort of random, but I think I may have been the first to upload "Ego Trip" to UA-cam, years ago. Or, at least, I couldn't find any other uploads at the time. My opinion of self-titled is relatively good, but it's been a while, and I admit I may not have even heard all of it.
Heh, sorry for this messy, long, "I don't need your life story" type comment. Just really dug your MRH videos, and figured I'd post it. Helps with the algorithm at least, right?

Man, what a comment. Thanks for sharing your insights. I love nerding out on bands and Mushroomhead is not one I get to talk about all that often so I’m 100% with you haha
My favourite look of theirs has to be the original hand-stitched X faces, just like you said. Just before that however, they had this all black look, balaclavas and jumpsuits and military vests and stuff. It’s impossible to tell them all apart except for J Mann. There’s a few pictures online but they aren’t very good quality and i guess this look didn’t last very long at all. I guess I’m fascinated by it because there’s so little evidence of that post-M3 pre-XX all black look.
I also really like the M3 era, with the white camo and final round of “store bought” masks.
Thanks for reaching out, glad you enjoyed the videos!
      Cheers!

There’s not even a visible J Mann in this one. The photos are mostly all of this dreadful quality too. I remember seeing them on the Eclipse website way back when. An interesting and almost forgotten micro-era. You can see how they quickly got to the stitched XX face look from this one.

We have the same story only me being in the States. I got to see em prob 10 times in 2002. When Waylon came in I fell off as well - or just enough to pay attention, but not listen more than twice. The Righteous era brought me back in as I think it did most fans, and as much as I didn't want to even give the new album a chance - I completely agree with you that it's their best effort since the good Ole days. The only band I hate and love at the same time. All the members leaving and being fired is so annoying, now JMann, Jackie and Tommy Tankx are out as well, what a shitshow.
Anyway, this would be my ranking (not ranking XX and Remix):
    1. Superbuick - Fantastic album, the keys are badass, I think JMann is at his best on this album too.
    2. Mushroomhead - I didn't like it at first, then I got so addicted to it, that now I even love the filler tracks on it, just a fun and weird album and I love the reactions from other people when I listen to it.
    3. M3 - Just an all time classic, there are some songs I actually don't really enjoy, but the ones that I do are fucking GREAT.
    4. XIII - It's a proper metal album, not as unique as the previous ones, but has some bangers on it and the other tracks are decent as well, probably
    their most consistent album.
    5. Savior Sorrow - Waylon is carrying this album tbh, maybe the live versions of these songs are the reason I put it this high, but I don't care. The production is dogshit, but still not as bad as the last place imo.
    6. A Wonderful Life - Love the vocal performance on this album, the sound itself is a bit generic for me, but I can enjoy it if I'm in a certain mood.
    7. The Righteous & The Butterfly - Few good songs, but the rest of it is really boring, the production is annoying too.
    8. Beautiful Stories for Ugly Children - What even is this? Couldn't listen to more than 2 times, I think they recorded it in a shed or something.

@@linesinwax4996 From The Final Act to Beauteous, of course If I listen to M3 on its own I don't skip them, but I mainly listen to Mushroomhead on a playlist I made, which contains only my favourite songs, all the other songs from the album are on it, just not these 4.
I get it's surprising, but I feel exactly the opposite how you do, for me they kinda break the album's flow and then Born of Desire just comes out of nowhere and it's kickass again.

the self-titled album is my least favorite MRH album. It's filled with filler instrumentals (though the intro is solid) and a lot of the songs do nothing for me. The peak of the album is probably 43, Second Thoughts and Indifferent (which I would have put on XX as opposed to Too Much Nothing). I do like the uniqueness of Ego Tripp but it isn't enough to change my mind on the whole album. Though I do understand why it was like that considering MRH was just a side-project at first and people didn't take them serious until SuperBuick came out.. I don't know what my favorite album would be...maybe XIII since it was my first album and the SDR music video was fully responsible for me getting into the Mushroomhead rabbit hole way back in 2003.
