Thank you for pointing out this was a mistake on my part. Well, F1 is one of my favorite sport but it as had some very dodgy decisions which decided who became world champions. On the top of my head I can think of 1989, 1990, 1994, 1997, 2007, 2008, 2021 and I'm sure we could find many more. Still an amazing sport if you ask me.

To make my point clear, I agree that the measures against South Africa, including banning them from international sporting events was very important. However, Budd was banned even after she fled South Africa to go to the United Kingdom. Should one individual be held responsible for the atrocities committed by her countrymen? If you ask me, this is blind racism. I get your point but I believe she should have been let in the moment she changed nationalities and represented another country. @@Ad-excelsum Her mistake was her stance. There's others who fled south africa. And where loudly pro civil rights. Honestly, The USa should see some boycotts and never will. Which is sad because it would have probably help the hell out of this country. The boycott that was brewing before the orginal civil war which meant that the south couldn't get help internationally was HUGE. Again, you always have to knowlege the mistake. Which is the low, not loud, pro civil rights stance. Even after years later. YEARS and YEARs later it's so milk toast that it's like why bother? There's other figures from around that time in south africa who fled who were white and better examples of what to do on the public stage. Hell, there's modern south africans who fled who have better stances.

​@@MistressOP I totally get your point, although I find it harsh to demand from a young kid to potentially put her family in danger by condemning the regime. There are times you are forced to take a stance, but in her case she actually suffered more by not taking a stance. Was she wrong? Maybe, did she pay a hefty price for it? I would say so. As to your point regarding US boycotts, are you referring to recent cases in particular?

You make good points. What I meant by hefty price is that it would have seemingly been easier for her to condemn apparteid and continue her career. As for me making the video, I think her story is interesting overall, the fact she ran barefoot, the Decker scandal etc... If you notice I named my video the barefoot athlete, not the athlete who didn't condemn apparteid. I'm fine with you saying she was a coward even if I wouldnt dare make that judgment myself, simply because I never had a comparable choice to make. I agree her story would have been greater had she condemned the regime but again, this would be a different story. As for Ali, he's the GOAT so no arguing there. 😊

Wouldn't you say it is a stretch to link the end of the apartheid to the current political situation? I am by no means an expert but I think many factors led to the current state of affairs.

@bbatjargal1549 I'm not arguing that her career wasn't short, or that she didn't dope, but come on, you can't shorten her life to "she doped, she died". She had an immense impact on the sport and is one of the names that will be remembered when we think about track and field. She also had a significant cultural impact. I understand that a lot of people are shocked that her records are still counted. I, personally, am shocked when those records get broken and nobody bats an eye. It was a different time, she doped, she paid the ultimate price, let her rest in peace.

Normally for a marathon you would train your stamina not Zatopek. For him an explosive workout of 100's and multiple races were okay. As said by Ad-excelsum in the 1952 Helsinki marathon Zatopek has no idea of what a pace actually could be possible for his first time on this type of race

​@@maxlaambert Zatopek did sets of 200m intervals to start and finish with 400m in the middle with a 200m jog recovery. He was doing a total of 32-40km in speed work, but a lot of his speedwork was closer to race pace.

@@Ad-excelsum hard to say or pick just one. 100 points is incredible. i don't care if you do it against a high school team. still impressive. of course there is the 55 rebounds (against bill russell). or the clip where he blocks kareem's skyhook three times in one posession is kind of intriquing , or a clip of him blocking a shot where his hand is almost even with the top of the backboard. or just simply the 70 recoreds 50 years after retiring. really hard to pick a single thing

I don't know enough about Lemond to say anything. Statistically he probably was, but he was definitely not on EPO which was first used right when he retired. If Lemond took something it didn't give him an edge. One of my favorite ever in any case, I've been thinking about making a video about him.
