New week new sport, with one of the most iconic rivalry of all times. In this video, we are presenting to you the rivalry between Brazilian Ayrton Senna and Frenchman Alain Prost.
They raced together in F1 between 1984 and 1993, and were teammates at McLaren Honda between 1988 and 1989.
This video is dedicated to the memory of Ayrton Senna, Roland Ratzenberger, and all those who left us too soon.

Senna’s Japanese DQ was for rejoining the track at a different point from which he left it, not for receiving outside assistance from the marshals. A ridiculous decision as people overshot chicanes at both Monza and Hockenheim amongst other places without penalty.

Well, F1 is one of my favorite sport but it as had some very dodgy decisions which decided who became world champions. On the top of my head I can think of 1989, 1990, 1994, 1997, 2007, 2008, 2021 and I'm sure we could find many more. Still an amazing sport if you ask me.
1. It is debatable to say that Prost crashed into Senna given Prost had track position. Senna was forcing the accident and was either reckless on his part or a racing incident.
2. Senna was not disqualified for getting a push start. It was for taking the slip road and not re-joining the track at the chicane and hence not respecting the length of the course. McLaren actually appealed the disqualification for that reason.
3. Although Senna was complaining about pole being switched it was always on that side of the track. He had tried to get it switched for that race but It is a myth to say that it was switched for that specific race. If you look at the start of the 88 and 89 races it is in the same place.

Please note that I did not say the pole was switched before the race. This is something I also saw in a lot of videos, Senna knew he would start on the dirty side if he made the pole, which arguably was a mistake on his part.

@@Ad-excelsum No worries, i also thought it was because of push start for years. There is a video somewhere of Ron Dennis making a humorous presentation showing other drivers being pushed through an escape road with no penalty.

Only few know that Prost suggested Senna for McLaren! Even fewer know; because of his close friendship with G.C. Minard, Ayrton was about to join the Minardi Team after winning his 4th title. He wanted to develop the car for his friend from Faenza.

I actually didn't know about that minardi bit. What do you mean after his 4th title? Do you mean had he won the 1994 title with Williams?
The agreement in Imola 89 was not that the leader after the start would remain for the race. It was that the leader should not be attacked until the first corner.
Senna disrespected the agreement, to his doom. He won that Grand Prix but 89 was a "cursed" year for him. Although he was faster than Prost most the time, he had many problems, which included car failures in likely winning races and an accident with Mansell out of desperation when Mansell was already disqualified and decided to remain on the track in Portugal.
I read different sources. In all interviews I've read from Prost he stated that the pilot ahead in the first corner would stay in front.
In any case, Senna did suffer a lot a bad luck in 89. All in all I feel it was fair that they both won one title in their two years together at Mc Laren.
