Wow dude, just seeing this. Really really awesome work, something ive been dreading to do 😂 MAD PROPS
Thanks man! Also, great video on the front end replacement you just did. I need to get a sand blaster for future projects!
MVP of the whole series THE VACUUM
Hahah for real though!
Great job 👍🏼
Love the color-CHANGING LOL- choice!! If I EVER get my mitts on a Mustang in those early years….my dream car…I’ll definitely be rewatching your video!! Very helpful!! Keep up the good work VH!!
Looks amazing! Been watching this from the start. I got myself a 66 mustang which we painted ivy green metallic. The blue is an amazing color with that interior. Loved watching your work. I’m in LA too, once you are done we should get the cars together for a spin!
Thank you so much! I was going back and forth on whether or not to go with ivy green, that's also one of my favorite colors. Yeah I'd love to take them for a spin, I don't know anyone else in LA with a classic car!
Have you gone over your sprayer / compressor setup? I haven't seen it in your videos.
I haven't yet, but I definitely will! Thanks for the recommendation!
Where’d you find it on ? I really wanna buy one so bad
Facebook Marketplace or OfferUp
Oh man, I can't wait to see this thing finished and running!
So jealous .. great videos .. really have enjoyed watching your process - Great Job Man! Car looks amazing!
empressive this process hopefully you can get it ready for showing off the car soon
Results came out awesome, definitely use an interface pad if you wet sand with the DA!
Thanks man! Yeah I've got one, bout to put the final polish on it in the next video! Then the whole saga of putting everything back together haha
Dude holy crap, the wind knocking over the seat into the stang woulda ENDED ME 😂
love the color!
Still watching from Ireland, I really wish they had more access to 65 mustangs over here. Best of luck with moving house! Would love to see a video of setting up your new shop at the new home?
Summit Racing is overpriced and shizzy to deal with.
if you make a 65 mustang shirt ill buy it
I like your work, very good 👍
Thank you!
Great job. Hopefully ou keep the projects coming on your channel. Huge fan of your Mustang work. You have inspired me on my own. I'm not tackling the paint since I have a close friend that paints but I'm doing all the pre work and have used products you've recommended. Thanks for the journey. I'd love to see you do another video on the Mustang with it completed and show it off outside.
Thanks so much! I've definitely got more videos coming on the Mustang. I'm glad to hear it's inspired you to work on yours, that's awesome!
That blue with the white interior is going to really pop, awesome update!
Looks great man!! Keep on going you’re getting there
Congratulations and great job!
My 65 was originally Caspian. It's such a unique color, sometimes it looks black and sometimes it has that deep blue depending on the lighting. It's going to look amazing with the white interior. Great job!
Looks awesome brother. Love it. What air compressor are you using? Im in the market for one do do exactly what you are doing.
better get rid of the toxic lead lol it's not like it's in your food and water.
If it was me I would’ve had both fans at the end of the garage. Think the one by the hood played a factor
Yeah you're totally right about that! Next time I'll set up something a bit better for ventilation. I'll also probably only spray lighter colors from now on, the dark finish shows every imperfection and is much less forgiving.
It’ll look sweet when it’s wet sanded and buffed. Slap a set of crager ss rims on it. It’ll look good
Omg omg omg 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Looks good 👍 painting is the most exciting and frustrating thing but you earned your stripes. Almost finished with my build luckily no paint or bodywork but completely went threw drivetrain and suspension. Be proud you do a great job!
I don’t remember if it was discussed in a previous video but what size of compressor are you running?
It's a 27 Gallon Fortress compressor. You can buy them at Harbor Freight
@ thank you! Any issues? I read everywhere online that you need a 60 gallon to do a whole car, but I’m assuming that’s where the LVLP comes in?
@@jdtjdtracing Exactly! It did fine with an HVLP as well! I sprayed the primer with an HVLP from Harbor Freight. Just put two good water separators on it. You just take your time and let the compressor catch up. The only issue I ran into was moisture in the line at the end from consistently running. I didn't have any issue with the pressure b/c it kept up just fine. Spraying with the LVLP was a different story, it did amazing. Allowed for me to spray without the compressor constantly running. Therefore I wasn't battling moisture in the line. I would highly recommend the LPLV aeropro, it did a fantastic job and felt high quality too. The compressor I was using was about as big as I could get while remaining budget friendly. Once you get past that point, they get so expensive. And there's no need for a giant compressor if you aren't spraying all the time. Check out paint society's videos on spraying with a small compressor, they're super helpful.
@ thank you so much for taking the time to type all of that out! All of my power tools are battery powered so spraying is the only thing I need a compressor for and the prices on 60 gallon ones are hard to justify so that is exactly the info I was looking for!
Congrats - you are a brave man!
color looks great! cant wait to see it all back together. bummer about the engine compression bit. drive it till it needs fixed? or rebuild after paint is done?
Thanks! I'll probably take it apart soon and address the issue. Driving it with the compression so low could cause engine failure, which I don't want.
Great color choice, my family had a 65 Ford LTD, that color when I was a kid.
Looks good. I miss seeing you for a few weeks. Good luck with the move
Congratulations! I love Caspian Blue! It’s my favorite early Mustang color. And with the white interior, that is an awesome looking car!
Great color pick with the paint! Looks great. Sucks about the engine but a refresh of the rings and gaskets will make a great video.
Looking good, happy to see the car almost done! I inherited a 65 mustang that also has a 302 and this series has taught me a lot. The car has been a lot for me to work on while in college and you’ve inspired me to just keep working on it, piece by piece. Keep up the good work, I love the content
Looking good. Congrats on getting color on it!
Beautiful Mustang you have, good job
I would pull the motor before you paint, You can then clean up the engine compartment and decide what to do with the motor. Paint after you reinstall new motor
LETS GO!! FOUND VIDEO 53 SECONDS AFTER POSTED!
Looks good friend thumbs up
People are used to this look now and this video is as good as any... but it's not what old guitars really look like... You can't achieve a realistic look working on small areas.
I have a replacement Mighty Mite Fender neck. The finish is a satin vs glossy. I have both satin and gloss. Would I use a fine satin top coat over the decal once it's placed?
Yes, you could as long as it is the same type of finish. I would also recommend hitting in lightly with a scotchbrite pad before applying and spraying b/c you will want to make sure the new finish adheres to the old finish.
Why make a wooden pickguard template when you could have just used the paper template?
Because a router bit bearing won't travel on the edge of paper. You need something like wood or mdf for the bit bearing to ride along.
Don’t do it
One thing im finding is oil based varnish dont work over decals
Correct, do not use oil over decals. Oil is made for wood and can be used to protect metal. The decals are a type of plastic and it will not adhere to them properly.
There are a lot of misconceptions about PCV valves…for a street driven vehicle, they’re so important. BTW: Look into the M/E Wagner PCV valve. You definitely want to run a PCV system to keep your crankcase clean and prevent oil leaks from the pressure build up. The PCV system is a working loop with the breather cap venting to the air cleaner. If your engine is stock then a stock PCV is fine. But if you run a decent cam, then the M/E Wagner adjustable PCV is the ticket.
How has that paint held up?
Not that great, I would recommend just reupholstering. I'm about to reupholster everything.
@HunterVanHouten ok. Thanks for the update.
I like the toupee!👍🏻
Hahahah that's my real hair bro.
I bought a Franklin in '03 as my first strap. so comfortable, and has worked great with whatever instrument I've used it on over the years. id be fine if this was my one and only strap forever. wide supple leather straps are the most comfortable imo. especially when your jamming for 5 hours with the band.
