  • In this video I start by rebuilding a vintage 1956 BSA Bantam D3 Motorcycle. This will be part 1 of a multi-part series! I Start by taking things apart and off of the bike. I open the motor and replace the kick start spring and mechanism. I also replaced the clutch plates and start to clean everything up.

Tremendous attention to detail. I really like this kind of video, taking something that has suffered decades of neglect, and having the patience to bring it back. I hope you stick with it.

Small world, I have a 1956 D3 in maroon engine BD3 11827. After 68 years it's pretty cool to find one so close in numbers and so far from home in New Zealand.

That's super cool! I can't find any others here in the U.S. This one came over to San Francisco in 1956 and stayed in California it's whole life. I wish I had the history of this bike. I just started working on it again and just finished repainting it. About to start the reassembly process and then rewire and it should be done. Stay tuned for part 2 coming sooner than later! Thanks for watching!

Suffering flashbacks to my teens in the 80's!. My first bike was a rolling wreck of a D3 swingarm (same as yours) in similar condition. Except mine had been 'painted' in house paint and was missing the carb and seat. Dad and I did a basic resto on it, but! Couldnt find the carb (no internet or ebay back then). Dad got it running using a modified carb off an old two stroke Flymo lawn mower. Finally got the carb. Still have it today. In pieces awaiting funds to restore it properly in Dads memory. There was another paint colour choice, Dove grey. If you have ignition issues Oz Bantams do a fantastic electric ignition kit that also upgrades the lights to 12 volts. Rex Caunt is another supplier of great quality parts too. Bantams did originally come with sprung saddle seats so you could get a 'bobber' effect without having to mess with the rear frame and shocks. Nice vid!.

This build got put on hold for a while, but I recently started it back up again. Just waiting on the weather to get better to finish painting and then I can reassemble! Thanks for watching this!

That is not a guitar. But it is a cool project!
Unsollicited advice: clean and preserve it - don't start painting things. You could buff the paint and cover it with boiled linseed oil. Beware of linseed oil rags spontaniously combusting.

Very interesting but for me the. ' music ' is off putting.
It's a common trait with many UA-cam videos. Manic music and speedy video. Slow down and calm down please.
