I remember that some of the repairs I had to do over the years were memorable. After 52 years I have done them several times. I had a similar experience with my speedometer as well and learned to unscrew the gauge cluster to facilitate the speedometer cable installation. It’s looking great!!! Well done!!! P
I had a 65 - 6cyn - 200 CI Coupe Blue/Black back in the 80's lots of memories - fun to drive. retired now but will buy one again once I relocate west coast L.V./A.Z./C.A.? white/turquois interior are my favorite interiors. yours coming really nice for a first timer. perhaps you might like to get into cosmetic restorations as a side gig? Mustang is so popular there in C.A. - you lucky most likely this Mustang spend whole life in dry C.A. otherwise those floorboards / rear quarter never survive here in N.Y. - good luck need to watch rest of your series. AAA+++
So it's incredibly hard to make door adjustments without removing the fender. Maybe there's a trick to it I don't know about? I'm going to have to make more adjustments and am going to try and do it with the fender on so I can properly gap everything.
Honestly it looks good with just the black paint on the roof (was wondering if you were planning to do a headliner or not. ) if you are taking the windows out to do seals that would be the time to do it for sure. (mine came with the windows already out so headliner will be last thing i do before i have the windows put back in with new seals) it looks really good! im just like you, as long as i can get something small done i feel like ive accomplished something and worked on it even if its just a little bit each night. my OCD brain wants to do it all at once and get it done! im dying to have my engine in and get wiring done so i can move on to painting the exterior and then interior and drive it! looking forward to more future videos
Yes, exactly! Not sure if I'm going to do a headliner. Was thinking about it only to help keep it cooler in the car when riding around. I would probably just do a 1 piece kit b/c I can't seem to find the headliner rods anywhere! Good luck to you and your build. We just have to stick with it, and we'll get them finished! Thanks for the support and for following along!
I would put a headline in it also put new weatherstrips four doors windows and everything it’s a piece of mind. He spent all that money on a nice interior and leave the weather stripping out so it gets wet through when it rains. Also spray the door jams obviously you’re gonna have it white or blue
Thanks for the advice! Yes, I have new weatherstripping for everything that I'm going to install. I will probably put a 1 piece headliner in it. Yes when I paint the exterior I'm going to paint the door jams blue to match the exterior.
If you get new leaf springs from cj pony get the reverse eye. I have them and I still installed 1incj lowering blocks. The 5 leafs are a really firm ride with the kyb shocks which I have also on mine. Get the leaf spring shake kit with the polyurethane bushings. They last a long time.
@@VanHoutenBuilds keep up the great vids. I did this same process on my other classic car [1965 thunderbird] which is more expensive and nobody works on those so it's a diy kinda job.
I am sure you know that the windshield and back glass have to be removed to install headliner. It’s a pain in the butt! Looking good, you are doing a great job!
Thanks! Yeah I was either going to end up doing a 1 piece headliner for ease or wait until I pull the glass out to put new gaskets in. They really need to be replaced!
Thanks! That's awesome! You working on any projects right now? I literally have no car friends haha. Anytime you want to come by and hang at the shop, let me know!
I'm watching your video so well, I have a question. Yacht blue and beige colors are so cool. I painted seats, dashboards, and inside the door with paint, but I wonder if you recommend leather painting. I think leather painting will be less durable.
Cute doggo man! Loving the videos, feels like this is what I would be like if I had to take on this kinda project, but you are infinitely more experienced than I am.. Always looks easy in the YT vids.. Keep it up pal, its gonna be one sweet ride when you are done!
Love your video series! Your pony is looking great. Love the color scheme. Any reason why you’re keeping the old instrument bezel? A new one will make a significant difference. I’m in SoCal too. Have had my 66 for 33 years. Looking forward to your next video
Thank you so much! I'll probably upgrade the old instrument bezel in time, but the old one still works, so I'd rather spend the money on other parts I really need. Thanks for following along!
@@VanHoutenBuilds I am currently working on a 65 coupe , ongoing project has been in the works for the last 6 months. Presently replacing the stock 3 speed manual with a 5 speed from MDL
Don't be discouraged! Maybe try and set aside like an hour a week to knock out those projects little by little. You will feel much better even after starting on something and then finishing it. Thank you so much for watching my videos, and supporting my channel, I really appreciate it!

same here!
So glad you’re showing all your steps along this journey! Definitely a breath of fresh air with the content
Really liking the contrasting colors in the interior. Looks great. Sweet looking puppy as well.
Thanks!
I just found your channel and yes, I liked and subscribed. How fun to watch the Mustang restoration one video after another!

Love the build bro I can't wait to start my 64.5 build
Good job.
Good job, I bought a 1966 Mustang. My 15 year old daughter and I are working on the weekends and watching your videos, Keep going!
This was a satisfying one to watch for sure, nice to see it all come together. Looks great!
Awesome video man. Love the build and the camera angles, keep 'em coming!
That’s clean!!!
looks great, me and my dad are getting a 66 running.
Thanks! That's awesome!
Awesome work, man! Save some talent for the rest of us! 😉
i love the colors of the interior. 2 tone dash looking really nice
Thanks! The white is going to be tough to keep clean haha!
You are totally making me want to start my next project. But I’m not even done with my last one yet. Expensive hobby we’ve gotten ourselves into. Haha
I know, right!? Haha I'm already looking for the next project too, but still need to finish this one. Still a great hobby though!
Great progress so far!
Dumb question - were you able to pull your door/ hinges without pulling the front fender?

Aaaaaawesome💪🏻😄
Your dog is gorgeous bonus they don't shed hair cars coming along nice put some deadener on rear parcel shelf.
Thanks! Hahah he's the best shop buddy. Yeah, the no shedding is the reason he's allowed on the new carpet 😂

I would not recommend painting leather. The paint I used on my upholstery is already presenting little issues and I don't think it will hold up.

Or go with the 4.5 reverse eye if you want a little softer ride but not overly firm
Are you installing a metal divider that goes between the trunk and the back of the rear seat?
Yes, I'm planning on it!

recommend getting a rear metal firewall for safety. other than that it looks great!
Thanks! I'm definitely planning on getting one! Any recommendations on where to order one? I know Summit Racing carries them.
Did u get the dash pad from cj pony parts?
Yes, I did. It was just their basic reproduction dash and it fit great!
Are you gonna paint the exterior as well I’m guessing white
I'm painting the exterior Caspian blue!
@@VanHoutenBuilds nice

Why didn't you put a new speedo bezel it would look so much better

You will have to pull back seat out again
Why?
I’ve got a 1 piece black leather headliner I’m looking to sell. If you’re interested.
TMI vinyl on there site bought for project car never finished or opened out of box
