Hi Hunter, I live in Los Angeles and have a rusty 64 1/2 D code 289 V8. Your channel has been fantastic regarding what to do at every phase of restoration. You should have 200,000 thousand followers by now! So to all the people out there watching Hunter's videos, GIVE HUNTER A THUMBS UP AFTER YOU HAVE WATCHED HIS VIDEOS. Keep up the great work😀 Cheers Steven.
Hello! Fellow 65 Mustang owner here. Thanks for inspiring me with my project. I just recently found this series and watched through it in a day. It’s been going kind of slow with money and all, sure you can relate! Maybe I’ll start a channel to fund for it. 🤔 Keep up the great work!
I’m really enjoying this series. I’ve binge watched all of your videos over the last couple of days. My wife recently inherited a 65 Mustang Hardtop and we’ve started working on it. I’m learning a lot from your videos
Love the series! I'm always excited when you release a new video! Your commentary, the way you film everything and the process in general is fantastic!
Looking great.. Appreciate you sharing your not so perfect issues... I'm still doing the welding piece on floor supports. Almost there .. Cant wait for next video
Great video! I've been waiting for a new update. My Dad owned and ran his own auto body business for years. After school and on the weekends, I would watch him work. He would have killed for some of the new tools currently on the market back then. Can't wait for the next one.
Spending my Saturday watching your body working and Opti flow videos and reading all of the comments since I am a newbie. It is 95 degrees outside with high humidity, so I am waiting for it to cool down some before I go out and do some sanding on the fender that I am getting ready for paint. I ran into a problem of some rust stains leaking through the Epoxy primer because we had an unexpected rain that got the fender wet before the Epoxy had a chance to cure. My plan is to completely remove the primer and hit it with fast etch to get rid of the flash rust. I have "liked " your videos and have subscribed.
I definitely binged a lot of these mustang video last night... nearly all of them and if you need me to make a run from Arizona to California I do it all the time. I'm normally going to San Diego. Don't know if that's where you are but figured I'd offer if you still needed it.
Keep grinding, shes coming along nicely 👌 I finally got my 67 convertible mustang into my mechanics shop and I understand the frustration. Supposedly had a new cam put in it but it wasn't. So we are going back to scratch waiting to see if we have to replace the cam and if so going to buy the complete kit at the same time. Frustrating thing was a good set of heads and a cam kit went missing during shipping so possibly another $1000+ in replacement parts.
I know haha! More videos are coming soon! I've been on vacation, got sick, and then my camera bit the dust. Just got a new camera today so the filming will resume! Thanks for following along
lot of hard work on your part but it will pay off, the biggest thing that stand out to me is your sanding. I usually start with a DA sander to get the high filler off to the stage a block can take over, sand at 45 degrees and alter directions, stay on one area before moving on. You were moving all over the place and not finishing what you started. Good luck with the project.
Thanks! Yeah I'm starting to figure that out. Definitely a first time learning experience for me. Going to do one panel at a time and work in smaller areas on the rest of the car. Also going to have to redo some of what I've done already, but that's ok b/c I'm learning! Hopefully my skills will improve with each new project. Thanks for the feedback, it's much appreciated!
Yo nice to see your progress on the project, such a bummer with the hardener, and twice the work on it :( When you get to the interior, could you take a little extra time explaining the instrument cluster and especially the temp gauge, if you go original with it? Struggling with mine being dead and can't figure out what's bugging it! Always cool to watch your vids and the build man, appreciate it!
Thanks so much! I already did the interior in previous videos. I didn't really show the gauge cluster though. I had the toughest time getting the speedometer cable back in though, it took me forever. I also replaced all of the bulbs with LED's that I bought off amazon. Only thing is when I went to put it back together I realized I forgot to label everything so I have some lights out of place. Going to have to take it back apart and put things in correctly. I also have no clue if my guages actually work yet. I haven't tested the fuel or speedometer.
I'm going to use a high build after I finish all of the body work to fill scratches and other imperfections. Just wanted to use a less expensive 2K epoxy for direct to metal first.
One more thing. To get that driver fender to line up, loosen the bolts that hold it in place and get a body shim kit. Most NAPA autos have them. Stick a 1/8” shim in the bottom bolt, between the body and the fender, it will draw the fender down and straighten your body line and make everything look nice and straight.
Hi I just recently became a rustang owner and I was wondering how do you decide what to do first and where did you get the information in the first place
Hey there! I would definitely recommend getting it running first, if it's not already running. Other than that, I did the interior first which in hindsight was probably not the best move. I should have done the exterior plus interior panel patching and metal/bodywork/painting, then put all of the interior back together last. I put the interior together first which has been a huge challenge having to pull parts back out and also trying not to get everything dirty on the inside. I'm going to do things that way on all future projects. Hope that helps!
@@GoobGloop The cost of the mustang was $5,900. Right now you can find one in better shape than mine for the same price or a little cheaper. At the time a year ago that was a better deal. I've probably dropped an additional $3K-4K on top of that in parts and supplies so far and I still have some things left to buy.
Someone was walking on that roof.... Looking pretty sweet, that filler not hardening was a real bummer, nothing worse than wasted work that makes more work...
Hey Michael! Thanks for checking in. Yeah I'm good, just took a European vacay with the fam and started filming when I got back, but unfortunately my camera bit the dust. I just got a new on the other day though! More videos are coming soon, stay tuned! Thanks so much for following along
Nope, I wish they were though haha. Maybe one day, but I feel like the time I hit that point I'll already have all the tools. They are just tools I've collected over the years. I usually find them at estate sales or wait until things are on sale.
Roll on paint how good is that if you have basic tools cars looking great with the mask. Top Guns new flight recruit Lieutenant Van Houton Power to the filler zone. Sanding to the primer zone...
I think you should go easy on the guys from Summit. Go to them for the things you can’t get from your neighborhood corner parts store, like rebuilt hi-po engines. Seems like asking them for advice on mundane parts is kinda insulting to them.
Shame seeing that much bond ruins a car really to actually rest you need to hammer that out til' it's straight. Yeah it takes forever and it sucks but that's the point of calling it fully restored and that's the reason why no one pays nobodies to "rest" their stuff. Cool project keep it up

Awesome video exactly what im doing to my car atm, feels like so much work but very motivating to see others doing it too!
Thanks! Hang in there, it will be worth it in the end!

Filler was looking like icing on a cake lol
That's what it literally felt like haha. Like icing that dries way too fast that you can't eat
Awesome videos man keep it up! My dream is to get a 65 as well. How did you end up finding this one any certain website?
Thanks! I was looking for about a year. Just found this one on Offer Up, also looked at a bunch on Facebook Marketplace too.

I’m surprised you didn’t use high filler primer , that stuff goes on thick and covers really well.

It’s always best to work one panel at a time. Coating the whole car in body filler once can be very daunting.
Yeah I learned that after doing this. Moving forward I'm only going to do one panel at a time for the rest.

Someone or something was definitely jumping one the roof at some point haha!
I think you'll regret not body working the driverside door a bit more....
Yeah I'm definitely planning on it. I'm going to body work all of the areas that need it again.
Hey Hunter, you good? You haven’t posted in almost 2 months. Hope you’re doing good. Excited for the next video

We will wait for another 3 weeks?
Yeah probably for right now, the body work is taking a while haha.
DTM primer would be better but great watching your videos I have a66 also it’s a lot of work
I did use a DTM Primer! It's a 2k Epoxy direct to metal primer. Thanks!
wait your name is Hunter too?
That filler woulda pissed me off. I’m doing the quarter panel on my 70 dodge dart now it’s a lot of work
Yeah it did, but it's a learning experience. Yeah it's a ton of work!

dude, can you list the songs you use in your videos??
You should download Shazam, that app will tell you the songs!
