Hey there, looks like you caught a break on that floor... Fun to watch your progress here. The wrinkled floor tunnel you found, is perfectly normal. Both of my 65's (one coupe, one fastback) have these same wrinkle features, that is how stampings came out... Remember, they had to crank these things out like Doritos! Love the good, used parts, cleaned and reconditioned. Keep the cost down, and get that gratifying rush of bringing those parts back life !!! I cannot what to see the butt welded floor pan segment ... I did 2" lap joints, when I did my 65 coupe full length pans back in the 90's... Keep em coming !!!
I immediately subscribed when I saw your restoring Video series because its fascinating seeing this beautiful Car slowly brought back to its old glory and you putting your knowledge and so much love and passion in it and its just fun to watch. Keep it up👍
Thanks so much for putting this out, really enjoy watching your progress and learning what is in store for me in the near future. I am in the searching phase, hoping to find a '67 with a 289. Keep more great videos coming!!!
Thanks! Yeah the next video will be me sealing the floor with seam sealer, then painting the interior with rust encapsulator plus from Eastwood. Didn't feel like going the POR15 route. Considered it though. Going to go with the Kilmat on the floors, and add in the carpet with the 13oz jute on the underside!
This video came across my feed this morning. Subbed, great work man. Your channel will grow! Keep it up. Going to binge watch to catch up on the latest.
Oh trust me. I know, I'm from Alabama! 😂 You walk outside there and you're immediately wet. haha. I guess I've grown soft being in CA for the last 9 years.
@@VanHoutenBuilds I've traveled all over the country (47 of the lower 48) and the southeast US is definitely worse than the northeast/midwest. Just spending a handful of days in Arizona/New Mexico made Ohio that much worse to come back to, so after living in Cali for years I could imagine how much just 65% would suck.
@@spicymsp1383 It's really only bad when you're trying to get paint to cure without a proper paint booth 😂. I'm constantly fighting that since we live less than 2 miles from the beach. The marine layer is a nightmare haha

My 65 has whitewalls. I get good comments on them because you don’t see them very often. My hubcaps are original. Wish I could post photos of them here. Looking forward to how you decide seam seal and prime.
The floors are really good compared to most. The pitting in the passenger floor is normal, as the heater corebis there. I would check to see if the cowl area is leaking in that side. The cowl is notorious for rusting out and it is a pretty involved fix
Yeah, thanks! I checked the cowl and there is no rust around or in there from what I can see, just some light debris which I am going to try and clean out. Also the heater needs to be replaced. We live in SoCal, so I may just do a heater core delete on the car since there's really no need for it here.
@@VanHoutenBuilds I've been down with Covid for a week and haven't been able to work on my cobra or deuce, so watching your progress is excellent therapy

@@morganleblanc730 Yeah I've ordered a few things from NPD, but they seem to charge more than anywhere else! That's great that you have a mustang salvage yard near you! Lucky haha
@@VanHoutenBuilds I have been at this for over 30 years. NPD is a little more expensive however the quality is 1st tier where CJ will actually use 2nd tier quality parts. Also I have experienced several delays with CJ. Kentucky Mustangs is also good however shipping cost is insane on some of the big parts.
Hey, another interesting video, thanks. Can of worms right? Looks like you have the time and the patience. I like how your okay with keeping it stock. I will keep mine stock too. Rare breed. Thanks.
Yeah I have a love for original things of that era. I do however have an appreciation for resto mods, but I definitely prefer to keep things as close to original as possible.
Great video. Nice fab work on the floor pan. I like the whitewalls and hubcaps too. Classic look for a stock Mustang. Did you find what is on the tape? Btw what kind of saw did you use to cut out old floor pan?
Thanks! Haven't had a chance to play the tape yet, I need to find a tape player. For the saw I just used an air saw from Harbor Freight. It worked really well, much better than a cutoff wheel.
there is a guy in my area with a mustang like that.....its his daily....the body has lots of dents. the guy dont have extra money to have it restored. im almost tempted to swap my 99 camry in good condition....but like him, i dont have extra money to restore a mustang....LOL

I rebuilt a 66 Mustang from the ground up years ago while in High school. Thanks for videos.
That's awesome!

Man that sunny So Cal weather 😊

Put some drain plugs in if you install a new floor pan.
Loving it dude!
Thanks!
Gas cap is a 66 which I prefer to the 65 version. My first car was a 66 C code. Wish I had it back. Nice project!
