I love Sloppy Joes. Have eaten them for many years. We just use the Hunt’s Manwich sauce in a can to add to the beef & use regular hamburger buns. We add nothing else. Simple & delicious. Very sloppy! :)

They were unheard of where i grew up. Ive had one, and it was not french toast -like . Just fried on the outside. No egg coating.

I love Monti Cristos but they have to be deep fried and crispy and then powdered sugar dipped in strawberry jam. Interiors is ham/turkey/swiss.

Monte Cristo, powdered sugar, and strawberry jam or orange marmalade. Dijon mustard, no mayo. OMG that's a great brunch/lunch.

If I could find them without jam, sugar, or syrup, then I would prefer them that way. But they're too fussy to make at home, imo, so I mostly stick to club sandwiches.

Light dusting of powdered sugar, raspberry jam dip, perhaps a harder cook on the batter than you seemed to have. The US is all about the savory-and-sweet combos. Maple syrup instead of raspberry jam also works. More cheese makes for an even more ambiguous food...

Batter and deep fry. No mustard, no mayo. Ham and turkey with cheese. Need a sprinkle of powdered sugar and a fruit\jam dip like strawberry.

I like it with the powdered sugar and jam. It hits the same notes as sweet and sour pork.

Sweet and savory often go well together. Maple syrup is also a popular dipping sauce instead of jam.

The first time I had a Monte Cristo was in Las Vegas in the 70's. It was battered and deep fried, with powder sugar on top. Then I put strawberry jam on top of that (instead of dipping).

Raspberry jam is the best. The more tart the better

Hold it together with a toothpick. Coat it in pancake batter and deep fry it. That gives it a crispy waffle type coating. Everyone loves the Monte Cristo!

Monte Cristo sandwiches are delicious. And Yes they have to have the powdered sugar and ample raspberry jam!!

Raspberry jam is the right one. Sugar both sides first. You're right. It shouldn't work. And yet it's so satisfying. Mouth watering again.

We had a chain restaurant here in Texas called Bennigan’s until the early 2000’s & this was one of their signature sandwiches! It was even weird for me & I liked it with their salty fries (chips). Not bad though 👈🏻 Love your Videos ❤️

I love a great Monte Cristo with powdered sugar and a jam dip. It shouldn’t work, but it does. It’s the sweet/savory combo. Mostly, I go to a restaurant and order it a couple of times a year.

It's not a Monte Cristo without the powdered sugar and a sweet dip.

I love sloppy joes. I like just the sloppy joe on a bun with some potato chips on the side or I put the sloppy joe mix in a hand pie/empañada.

The only truth to sloppy joe perfection, is the sauce that you grow up with... I grew up with the sauce flavors of the early 70's, that was before"*Manwhich", and all the other late comers. Today the very best sauce i buy for the ORIGINAL flavor is the, *Heinz sloppy joe in a can . it's the best of what I'd say is traditional. As for add-on's ,, absolutely no cheese, at most I'd add a very finely minced onion, as small as you can get it, cook immediately with the beef.

A super-soft hamburger bun with a bit of sugar in the mix is best. Usually the cheapest in the market. To be truthful, sandwich bread works just fine...just make sure the mix covers the entire surface. There are dressings if you wish. I know that this is usually a child's meal, but onion and bell pepper washed with olive oil and a touch of salt then baked or air-fried until soft, are fun for adults in an informal setting. Sides are important. A pickle and a salad..Cole Slaw or Potato or Chips.

No cheese. I hadn't thought of peppers and onions... that wouldn't be a Sloppy Joe, but it might be tasty. My mother would apparently make a version using spaghetti sauce (when she had extra) and call it "Sloppy Giuseppe".
