Give me banana pudding any day too! Mrs. H, you deserve a standing ovation. You do so much cooking and trying new recipes! Instead of just trying new things, you're preparing them for everyone. That's a lot of work. Great video. Thank you!
I thought you guys were saying "ball bin". Makes me think of the plastic ball pits that McDonald's used to have. "You can smell the ball bin and taste the ball bin."
Bread Pudding is a cold weather dish it is substantial it is warming it is perfectly sweet it feeds a snack to a large family for cheep and with a touch of Bourbon it warms the skin
First let me say I love you guys and your videos. Alana is getting to be a very big feature which my wife and I love. But I got to tell you it kills me every time I hear you guys say bourbon. If you wanted to be American accurate, you would pronounce it berbin... Not boorbun.
I'm with Mr. H, I rarely go for boozy foods but I'm glad you like it. Probably have the same effect with RUM BALLs. And, yes Banana Pudding any day over! Can't love everything! Elana giving it a 9?!? She might like liver when she's older! lol
Bourbon does have the same bite as brandy. Moonshine, I've tasted the legal kind ,is very fiery and has a less complex flavor ,at least the most basic one,I didn't like it. Not surprising Bourbon and Brandy are meant for civilized sipping, moonshine is used like vodka,to get a buzz quickly, for those that want that,I'm more a wine or cocktail person on the rare occasions I have had adult beverages. lol.
This is a New Orleans recipe. It's very boozy and I'm not a fan. There are dozens of bread pudding recipes from regions all over the US. My grandmother brought her recipe from Portugal in 1904 and it and it sounds a lot like your "stodgy" Brit version. It was a good way for her to use up leftover bread and make a tasty dessert during the depression. I would say, most New England bread puddings I've eaten, homemade or in a restaurant, are similar to the version you made... but with far less liquor. Most often the liquor comes in the form of a warm butterscotch whiskey sauce. Plain, sweetened whipped cream is served on top. I make bread pudding when I have leftover baguette. The homemade whiskey sauce is great, but in a pinch, I put some butterscotch ice cream topping and a small amount of whiskey in a glass custard cup and heat it for about 15 or 20 seconds it the microwave. This is a great cool weather treat.
If only you could correctly pronounce bourbon. This product was invented in Kentucky in 1789 so the correct pronunciation is the USA pronunciation. I find it very grating to have it mispronounced over and over again 😔

Bread pudding is lovely. That said banana pudding is the perfect end dish for good BBQ.
I LOVE bread pudding with a warm butter rum sauce.

9! Wow!
Not a 2 😮 I guess she REALLY liked it
I had this at K-Paul's in New Orleans about 25 years ago. Delicious! K-Paul's had delicious jalapeno cornbread too.
I thought you guys were saying "ball bin". Makes me think of the plastic ball pits that McDonald's used to have. "You can smell the ball bin and taste the ball bin."
Me too! It's pronounced "Ber bin" of course, but i was hearing "ball bin".
Because they're pronouncing the OU in Bourbon.
Nine? The smell of the bourbon must have gotten to Elana. It must have been really STRONG.
Yum ❤😊
Wow unless Elana is learning German that was impressive.🎉🎉
I love bread pudding, but prefer it without the bourbon. Glad Mrs H liked it!! ❤😊
For me, I really like some warm caramel custard over it
It's not Borbon.... it's Burrbon.
If she thinks it's a 9, then you probably accidentally gave Elana the bourbon pudding.
Bread Pudding is a cold weather dish
it is substantial
it is warming
it is perfectly sweet
it feeds a snack to a large family for cheep
and with a touch of Bourbon it warms the skin
In the UK it's whisky or rum
Just enjoying your way of saying bourbon 😏
I like to make a White Chocolate Amaretto Bread Pudding .

Did she say nine, or “NEIN!”? 😂
Never had this. Im from NYC.

Just go easy on the bourbon. It can be overpowering.

They already showed this before
Was that made with Kentucky bourbon?
I don't like bourbon so I would avoid making that. Another popular recipe with bourbon is a chocolate bourbon pecan pie.
