If video games are a waste of time, so are movies and loads of "hobbies." Escapism is needed for every individual to some degree. What makes your Netflix binging better than a game like mass effect? Kingdom hearts? Final fantasy? Etc etc. Moderation is key. Besides all that, movies, games, music, all forms of entertainment have a societal and cultural significance. Anime and video games taught me more about honor, courage, and brotherhood than public school ever did. Sports are great and all, but I wasn't blessed to be in such things until I joined the Marine Corps. If you can enjoy board games, card games, and the like, how is that better or not a waste of time compared to video games such as baldur's gate 3 and the witcher? You like scary movies? How is that not a waste of time or rotting your brain as compared to dead space? You like the OG marvel movies? How is that any more better or significant to the spider-man video games? The video game industry makes more money than the music and movie industry combined, globally at that. People need to respect all art forms. Video games take more money and time to develop than movies and music, and make a greater impact socially and culturally. Creativity and the expanse of the mind is not just subject to books, movies, and the outdoors. You can enjoy it all.

I used to play video games a lot too. Stuff like Skyrim or Red Dead Redemption. However, I would still do the housework and work out, get to work on time.

St. Louis City resident and employee here. I remember at work I was studying Turkish (while on limited duty due to an injury), a female co-worker (also on limited duty for failing a qualification) complained that nobody speaks Turkish where we work. Never mind that I speak Spanish at the B2 level and I passed the DELE B1 (Diplomas de español como lengua extranjera) and the DELF B1 (Diplôme des études en langue française). In other words, studying Turkish is a waste of time. So, the moral of the story, is everybody thinks everything is a waste of time while they watch the same movies over and over, or binge Netflix.

I totally stopped paying for subscription for PlayStation and EA subscription and even stop paying for their games. I might see a deal for about five bucks the most, and I’ll buy it because that’s how much I get games for on a PC. About five dollars to $10 each. And it’s because all this woke crap going on and banning countries.

Ubisoft open worlds were good up until around Far Cry 5 when they kept trying to make them bigger and bigger and longer and longer and grindier and grindier

My rule of thumb for playing games is only buy a new game once you finish the one you’re currently playing. That way you not only save money but also make the most out of the money you’ve spent as you get everything you want out of each game. The only exception I have to this rule, is if I don’t like I game I have no obligation to finish it, but besides those games I don’t like I really have nothing in my backlog which is a big relief.

I think its not about playing EVERY game, its about playing and finishing more games, not going on Reddit or some random task and just gaming more, at least that's my goal. For me its not about clearing the backlog, its just about making sure its smaller and I'm enjoying gaming.

Too many times have I decided to install a game because I remembered playing it once and the great experience I had with it, only to never even load the game, to promptly uninstall it because I "just wasn't feeling it anymore." Too many choices leaves you with that sense of "I'll get around to it" but not ever getting around to it. This kept happening until I uninstalled all but 2-3 games I KNEW I was going to play. Same goes with my music. Once I had over 10,000 songs in my collection, and you guessed it, I stopped listening to music too. Minimize and then optimize!

Indie games on steam have kept me entertained for a long time now. They usually cost 5£ - 30£ depending on the game. And ive gotten 50 - 100 hours out of most of them. For example I bought Valheim for 7£ and enjoyed it alot. 😊

I also did the math with my own backlog : I'm at 6k hours, and I already did made a very strict selection of the games i TRULY want to play

My backlog went from 30 games at the start of January, and im now down to 16 (middle of April). Just 3 to 6 hours a day playing a handful selection of games little by little, and removing some games i lost interest in. Don't give up backlog bros! You can do it!

It's like the original Enterprise with a fresh coat of paint, even with a different (gray) shade... ...Now, going from _DOOM 3_ to _DOOM (2016)_ was like the complete renovation of the original Enterprise, inside and out, to the 1979 ship. Advanced graphics engine, new demon designs and new storyline. A sequel, but _maybe_ not a sequel. A reboot, perhaps? But the creativity within the story was more convincing. 😎

I’m gonna be dead honestly I think I just grew up. I stopped having fun in almost everything I play, even the really good games. Ever since I started going to the gym consistently and running it’s almost like those became my new games. What I’m saying is if your not having fun you probably just don’t like it anymore and that’s ok. Go and find another hobby. There’s so many out there

I think the company that stands out id Nintendo. They aren't afraid to make delays to games to make them perfect. Legend of Zelda and Mario are the franchises that have no bad game in their series. Sure they'll destroy anyone who tries to make fan stuff, but they still make fabulous games

In My Series S,my digital games i play are just 6 USD-worth (Old Gen Games) and only the Most expensive new games are just up to 20USD.
