Custom built - epoxy resin finished serving board - "How I Did It"
Переглядів 3155 місяців тому
In this "How I Did It" video, I walk you through the process of creating a custom built, resin finished, "under counter" pullout serving board for my clients. They had originally approached me about refinishing their existing board, but as I'd guessed, it was just too grungy to work with. Recreating it was the best solution! The entire process took several hours over the course of a few days to...
Epoxy Resin Plant Stand (top) - test piece for a bigger project
Переглядів 3925 місяців тому
Having recently been approached by my clients to do a custom resin finished piece, I needed to do a sample board. Partly to work out my method, but also to get the client’s approval before beginning their piece. What better way to do this than to practice on a project that I had sitting around for “someday”. This is my “how I did it” video of the sample piece. I’ll be featuring that client’s pi...

@AlchemyArtisanWorks I'll show you how I make use of all of my leftover resin from my bigger pours! Even when it's become too thick to "pour", you can still create amazing finishes on other objects. Hop on over to my channel for the full process video!
Never waste “leftover” resin! Try this… (Bamboo Canister Lids)
Переглядів 9836 місяців тому
Have you ever mixed up a ton of resin for a bigger project, only to find you didn't need or use it all? Yep, happens to me all the time! I never want to come up short during my pour. But... Ugh! All that leftover resin. What do you do with it? Such a waste to toss it away! Well... Dont! With a little planning before your bigger pour, you can use ALL of your resin. Sometimes, when I'm doing a co...

Ok… here’s my version of the new roller technique Mitch Quist from Stone Coat Epoxy just posted recently. I did mine with a bit more blending between colors. Wow, what a fun technique. It’s so versatile depending on the sizes of pools of color, and how much you blend. Can’t wait to try another pour like this! I’ve just sent some pics to my client and she LOVES the result, yaaaay! This epoxy pour is from a few years back. A client approached me to design, fabricate and pour a surface for a beautiful antique wine table base he’d acquired. The dimples and fish eye spot was because of the towel paper you passed before the flood coat. It left particles of the towels on it

      I understand why you’d say this, but I have now had this problem with this particular product on several other projects where I did not use paper toweling before doing the flood coat. It is something else with this product. Not a reliable top coat.

      Thank you so much! That really means a lot to me. 💕 I’ve always but a bit self-conscious about speaking and being on camera, but now that I have pushed myself through my discomfort (since making this video), I have made it a goal to re-make this video with me speaking! Your comment has fueled the urgency to get it done!! Thanks, again

    I know this is an old video but I was wondering if there is color under the cellophane or if it's just white. I've watched your videos for a very long time and always hoped you would do more. Indeed, I have wanted to (and have finally started to) post more content. Unfortunately, life got in the way. That said, as you have observed, I’m finally back to it, yaaaay! I created this a couple years ago, but typically, once I have the substrate prepared (live edge, if there is one, sanded and primed, etc), for the actual resin work like this, I’ll work on it from 1 to almost 2 hours, depending on the cure rate of the brand I’m using and how far I can push it.

    Please answer this question… did the colors hold up or fade? I haven’t so many that faded within weeks and I want to build one but don’t want to waste my time and money for it to fade out quickly I mean I absolutely love your project but before I begin I’m trying to see if it holds up or not?? Thank you for posting

    • @AlchemyArtisanWorks
      @AlchemyArtisanWorks 7 місяців тому

      According to my client, it’s holding up great! I did quite a few layers of UV protection, as its light (with its UV rays) that fades the ink. That, and for some reason, epoxy just seems to “eat up” purple ink/pigment, so these colors had to be super sealed! If you are worried about facing, I’d highly recommend doing a sample board, with all the steps and give it a good long test run before diving into a costly project. Best to you!

  • @user-MultiCrafter5119
    @user-MultiCrafter5119 7 місяців тому

    It is absolutely stunning but it was also before applying the ink. I don’t really understand why you apply the ink on top. Why not either one look or the other?

    • @AlchemyArtisanWorks
      @AlchemyArtisanWorks 7 місяців тому

      Thank you! Trust me, I LOVED the pre-ink golden marble! There were a lot of reasons I did that finish as a first layer. The ink pattern was her desired look. It’s a little hard to see it in photos, but since the inks are transparent, the iridescent marbled patterns shine through the ink. So pretty and much richer than just a flat white base. Hopefully that answers your question. 😁

    • @AlchemyArtisanWorks
      @AlchemyArtisanWorks 7 місяців тому

      Hi, right, “not” scratched. 😁 I don’t. I recommend only to “serve” on charcuterie boards. They are not “cutting boards” and not meant to cut on. No abrasives or “scrubbies” should be used to clean, just a soft cloth (microfiber is great) and a little dish soap, if needed. Used as recommended, the epoxy is quite durable.
