  • Boom! Boulder Opal. I did it, and I LOVE it! So excited to deliver and install this beauty!
    *How I did it!*
You asked for my recipe, and here it is, in all its insanity! 😄 (See list below)
Thank you for all the kind words regarding this piece. 🙏🏻
    Laminate countertop
    XIM white bonder
    Stonecoat white epoxy undercoat
Stonecoat countertop epoxy (about a gallon)
Celebrate It! Blue iridescent wrapping film
Krylon Super Quick Grip Spray Adhesive
Krylon Glitter Blast in Soarkling Waters
Design Master premium Metals in Champagne Gold
    99% Isopropyl Alcohol
Turquoise mica in 99% Isopropyl Alcohol
    Aqua mix
    Turquoise mica
Folk Art Color Shift in Aqua Flash
    007 Chameleon mica
    Blue mix
Modern Masters metallic paint in Venetian Blue
Wynn Modern Art Atlantic Blue LUXE powder
    008 Chameleon mica
    Red mix
    Umber mica powder
    001 Chameleon mica
Black Diamond Lux Enerald Green (shimmery green)
    Blue Opal shimmer
    PearlEx interference blue mica
    Wynn Modern Art Opal 2.0
    Pink Opal Shimmer
    PearlEx Interference Red
    Martha Stewart Sugar Cube glitter
    Ice Resin Mylar confetti glitter
    Fire Opal & clear epoxy
Cobalt Opal (and later) mixed with aqua mix
    Epoxy Candy Shimmer Inks
Almond Milkshake (added to dirty pour mix)
Cola Brown (squirted directly on to epoxy)
    Bronze Dirty Pour
    Brown mica mix
    Aged Bronze Mica mix
    Krylon Antique Brass spray paint
Aqua, blue, and red mixes, and shimmer green
    White Dirty Pour
Black Diamond Silver pearl & clear epoxy
    White pigment and clear epoxy
Krylon Smokey Beige Spray paint, Diamond dust & clear epoxy
Layer with Gloss white, Smokey beige and Perfect Grey spray paint, and almond milkshake
I sprinkled a tiny bit of extra pink and blue opal glitters over key areas when finished. I added Diamond Dust to the second clear coat, and then I detailed some gold veins on that layer with a gold foil pen before pouring the final clear coat.
I know... insane, right?! 😝 But, you asked, and that’s what I used! As to how I did it, all I can suggest is... watch me work in my process video. I did the opal underlay effect first, and then it definitely took a good hour+ to pour and work the color layer the next day. This is definitely not for large projects! But it makes a great smaller statement piece. If you want to see the work in real-time, let me know and I’ll post a real-time video. It’s looooong, which is why i speeded it up for the original video I posted. Even after the camera stopped, I had worked it a tiny bit more! 🤪
Anyway, thank you so much for following this project, and if you appreciate what I’ve shared here, please like and subscribe. As always, I welcome your questions, comments and compliments. 🙏🏻💗

Quick question. Since I am in another state, is it possible to have something like this done then shipped to me? I will be looking to get my fireplace done in the fall so it will look like a big slab. At first I thought it would not be possible because it would be too big and heavy but I’ve seen slabs made from foam. Is this possible?

Oh my goodness, my apologies that I missed this question! Yes, anything can be shipped. 😁 It’s just a matter of cost. Yes, you can definitely do shower walls and art on foam. I’m not sure this is a good idea for a fireplace mantle, as I’m not sure that something heavy might dent or punch through it, but I sure think you could do a surround on foam. Feel free to email or message me with questions or for more info!

@@AlchemyArtisanWorks I'm putting together a shopping list for my table, and I can't find the chameleon colors. Is there a brand I should look for?

@@ditahargrove2804 I recently went on Etsy and searched chameleon colors/mica/glitter/pigment, etc. lots out there. Pearlpleasures & jetagestudio are two great sources.
