Should the skirt be pressed pleats? Its really called a “kilt “ It looks good though .

Love the skirt! I think one feature I'm loving is that it is the pleats stitched flat a bit off the waistband. It really flatters you!

That’s definitely versatile. I have several different style black skirts that I do the same with.

I would say my favorite style was with the fisherman's sweater and jacket & knit hat! Great skirt non the less....

Ive seen where others kinda gave you a hard time over this,but i totally understand what you did and why. Our old house has red oak floors and although the wood is still in pretty good shape the old finish ( probably polyurethane) is completely gone,especially in the living room and hallway. An old man i do odd jobs for waxes his floors and they look pretty darn good. I cant afford the whole sander rental,$300 worth of polyurethane, etc,plus we have 3 little kids and a couple cats that would almost make it impossible to polyurethane unless i sent everyone on vacation somewhere for a week.. Although not perfect,i think it turned out fine and will add durability and charm to the old place. Thank you.

So nicely done with the foraged greens. I do something similar to my staircase in my old farmhouse. Greens going along the stair treads rather than the banister and then I put battery/remote pillar candles on each stair. So easy and pretty

Love the staircase! I also had a section of strand of lights that quickly burned out after I put them up. I laughed and said, "Oh well," too. I'll need to make a list of things I want or need to replace for next year.

I've been in my historic house exactly a year. Today i finally finished my bedroom curtains, i can say they did my head in, not perfect, but hey they are done. i think each panel took me a month. The little curtains in my kitchen and mud room i brought fabric twice and just wasn't happy when i got it home, a very expensive lesson. A thrifted $5 curtain won in the end and was long enough to do it all.

I grew up attending a little Lutheran church in rural Minnesota and we celebrated St. Lucia Day with an open house brunch for the community. I know they served Swedish breads, lefse and a fruit soup (which I never tried because warm soupy fruit seemed wrong to me back then 🥴). Once I was St. Lucia complete with full costume just like the Kerstin doll you mentioned, complete with a crown of glowing candles. My duty was to greet each person at the brunch and welcome them in. This fell to the oldest daughter in each family on a rotation. Good memories.

You have mentioned you don't like to wear red, but the red velvet jacket looks stunning on you! Maybe its about the right tone. A cherry red might not be your best shade, but a more brown toned red (that is how that jacket looks to me) is super flattering on you!

I have one turkey that is a tureen i had picked up at an estatesalea few years back.. It's small like the size of yours. They are just fun, aren't they?
