Loved your video! I think Jennifer L Scott is a great resource! She counts her core items and leaves it open for extras like tops and layering pieces, outerwear and shoes and PJs It gives a bit more flexibility so that alot of the core items tend to be dresses or bottoms!
I just adore thrifting quality pieces...will be wearing a beautiful purple maroon Alpaca wool sweater and a great navy blue cashmere sweater this season! Thanks for sharing!
I LOVE seeing your collection of curated items and what you are drawn towards! I definitely prefer more items in my rotation; I find that 10 tops & 10 bottoms works well for me, so 20 items in all (not counting layering). The reason for this that I mostly wear skirts, and I need them in various lengths. (3 pencil skirts, 2-3 midi, 3 maxi) plus 1 pair of jeans I have currently, that makes 10 bottoms. Not including any dresses. And tops I need at least 10, because I have a baby and my aprons don’t cover spit up on the shoulder and I don’t walk around with a burp cloth. So that seems like a lot for a “10 item wardrobe” but it REALLY helps my personal style, which is split 50/50 for Preppy/Vintage and Bohemian/western. So I’d have 5 tops in more preppy “Ralph Lauren” style, and 5 Bohemian blouses to style over skirts or my pair of jeans. That’s not including layers! Like vests, jackets, cardigans, sweaters. But given my lifestyle and climate, it works well for me and it’s been great for discovering my personal style! I find if I swing too much in one direction (doing super preppy and neglecting the free-spirited bohemian) than I feel stifled and not like myself. So I need enough pieces to depict that range. 💛 I aim for about 30 pieces for a well-rounded wardrobe, including dresses but not including layering.
It’s so interesting to hear how you think about a well-rounded wardrobe, and you've got a great system! Your description of your style sounds sooo much like mine!
I live on the north east coast of usa and it gets really cold so i have wool coat sweaters over a shirt...I find wool is the warmest material in winter and fleece...is that your barn and 🐎 horses in the background?
Last year, I picked up a white button-up shirt, and I just don't feel as put together as I look. What I mean is when I look at myself in the mirror, I think it looks good, but that is not how I feel when im out and about. I feel more like I'm trying to hard. How do we get past that feeling?
When I feel like that it’s usually that I’m wearing what I think I should instead of what I actually love. Maybe you are a cashmere cardigan girl instead of a crisp button down. Maybe you want more artistic than classic. What do you love touching? My clothes have to be soft and I have to be able to move. I prefer tone on tone instead of multi color prints. Those are things that feel genuine to me.
My biggest struggle with the 10 items is South Carolina. Seriously, our weather. 🙄 It was in the 40s last week and today is nearly 80. It’s like we have all the seasons in a week
@@OldWorldFarmHouse I would watch the heck out of a video that could problem solve that one. I really would love less clothes. I just don’t want to freeze or roast.
I am the same in Utah. We can have all the seasons in a day! I actually don’t keep “seasonal” items stored away for this reason, unless it is midsummer and I’m not wearing a cable knit sweater then. But layers definitely have to be accessible all year round.

Yes I will get into the extras in another video hopefully soon!

Brrr! It’s the neighbor’s horse 🐎
Have you tried silk? I switched to silk tank tops and it was life altering. So warm.

That is a great question. I have felt this way too. I will try to do a video on it. I have some thoughts.

Oh my goodness Kentucky is so similar. There are so many jokes about it! I think I need to address this in a video. I bet we’re not alone!
