Hi Kathleen, thanks for sharing how to enjoy what we have and make the best of what we can use in our own backward. To appreciate things in life instead of running out and spending money to achieve that. To enjoy the process what we do daily and to do the mundane mindfully.
Our dish washer wasn’t working, we pulled it out and built a box cabinet insert with open shelves. We put wire baskets on selves for potatoes, onions and other things. If we decide we want a dishwasher again easy to replace as the plumbing is still there. Honestly don’t miss it and I love cleaning up after dinner and having everything in its place for the next day. Your home is beautiful and thoughtful. ❤
We are celebrating hurricane season, also known as fall, in South Carolina by putting what is left of the garden to rest. The food crops were destroyed but not the herbs or roses. 🤷 Now to rearrange the living room and contemplate a Victorian sofa for fall. 😉 I love goldenrod. I’m so sorry it gives you a sniffy nose. Ragweed kills me but not goldenrod.
Oh my I hope it wasn’t too bad :( we have tons of rain but nothing like y’all. I was told just yesterday goldenrod often takes the blame but really it’s ragweed and other more obscure plants blooming at the same timethat irritates most people. Enjoy dreaming of your sofa!
@@OldWorldFarmHouse It wasn’t horrible. East Tennessee, where my family still lives, got smashed though. 😔 All safe and houses intact so we are grateful. The thrift store here has a canned food drive soon so the sofa will be half off. So dreamy. If it comes home with me I’ll have to figure out how to send you a pic. 🧡
Kathleen; I’m confused by the title of this video. I even watched twice to catch why you’re saying “Home Decor is a Waste of Money” Can you explain please? Otherwise I did enjoy your video and the idea of appreciating what nature provides.

IMO, dishwashers are stupid! You have to own a ton of dishes so you have "clean" dishes to use when you have "dirty" ones in the dishwasher. Most people pre-wash their dishes so they'll get "clean" in the dw, then you have a ton of dishes to put away after running the dw. Not to mention the expense of buying a dw. There are many things you cannot put in the dw, the dw uses electricity, and many dishwasher detergents contain toxic chemicals - chemicals you cannot convince me are not going to leave a residue on your dishes which you'll then consume along with your food. By the time you've done all the prep before loading the dw and the time it takes to unload and put away so many dishes, you might as well just hand wash your dishes and be done with it.
I don’t understand why the Wall Street Journal is an expert on how anyone should feel about their home in anyway. Folks should do what makes their home their home and stop considering what the “experts” have to say.
