Thank you for not being disparaging of those of us who shop at Walmart or Ross and who don’t have an array of authentic items! You can get some amazing things for very little money and you don't have to spend a fortune to create interiors you love. I believe that! It's especially true of the Neoclassical look because there is a lot of used/vintage things out there with the right shapes. It's really getting the right shapes that is more than half of "getting the look" I think.
i have a historic house about a million miles away from you in an Australian town. i fell back in love with decorating classic when we moved in. its taken a while but ive replaced most of my modern pieces with antique or period pieces that was either thrifted or off fb marketplace, i am yet to walk into an antique store. i love that my house and decor doesnt look like its from a box store but yet ive been able to seamlessly marry timeless new items into the mix.

I used to have a french style chair I got at Joske's, which later became macy's. I got rid of it because it was beige leather, NOT thinking I could've had it reupholstered in fabric! I also had a small setee in french style that could've been reupholstered! I'm sick because I've gotten rid of lots of pieces because obviously i liked them, but I didn't know how to make it work!😮 thanks for the encouragement, I'm an old woman, but I still want to make my retirement home feel comfy and put together!
Oh, I feel your pain. That's a common decorating story! It sounds like you have amazing taste! You can do it! It’s very important to love your surroundings..at every age!

You always have great content, but I would love to see more videos like this. I feel I have the "garge sale" home decor look. It's hard to put all the things I like together and make a cohesive look. I want a French and English cottage look, but I find that I gravitate towards vintage items from the 50s and 60s that don't have a French or English look at all. Lol. But that may be due to the fact that is what is available in my area and / or in my budget. I recently decorated our guest room and took inspiration from your Raulph Lauren video. It's close to the look, but it's missing something??? I just can't quite figure out what to do to bring the look together.

I love classic style. Whether it’s midcentury modern, Swedish, even classic Southern style I love them. One of my most enjoyable ways to spend art time is looking for similarities across styles. Like pale blue. Classic Swedish color, southern ceiling color, and a beautiful background for midcentury walnut colors. It lets me take something I love and find all kinds of inspiration in how to live beautifully with it. If you chose something like the pleated shade and find where it shows up in many styles- those are my favorite. I too am using true linoleum tiles in a checkerboard pattern. Not boring but I won’t get tired of it either.
