I had the French furniture growing up. My daughter used it as she was growing up and now her little girl is using it, we love the history of it. Love all you do with your home.
I had this furniture when I was a little girl, and I also had the bunkbeds with a matching desk and dresser in the bunkbeds. Also had drawers built in.
Besides coffee, thrifting is my other joy in life. i love browsing and upcycling and it's the thrill of the find when something was ridiculously expensive from a shop i would never pay retail for. My kids are so rough on furniture too. I won't give myself anymore aneurisms and buy brand new for couches, chairs or tables. I think I'm a happier mum when I'm not emotionally and financially invested in the furniture, and we can just live in our own house. The old furniture is so much more durable, and forgiving compared to newer modern materials. it's also easier to refinish if it gets banged up.
I have a photo of the Annie Sloan wardrobe saved to my phone! You did an amazing job with your interpretation. I have thrifted Waterford crystal that still had the stickers on it that was so fun and I love it but my favorite is probably our 2 sofas. One feminine. One masculine. Same length. Symmetry but interesting.
Yes! In the 80s, I, too, had the yellowed white with gold trim Provencal bedroom set with a four-poster canopy twin with a high boy dresser and one bedside table. I hated it. Lol. Also, on the paint, I started using Latex in eggshell and then topping it with the waxes. It gives the same look as the chalkpaint and wax. Although I haven't used a dark wax, only the clear. That might be something to test first before one would try. Lastly, you look really pretty with the way you styled your hair and makeup in these last few videos. I really liked this video.😊
I bought a dresser and nightstand back in '88 at Sears discount section. It was what I could afford at the time. I was 33 and was just divorced. They were good pieces of furniture. They are long gone now as time went on.
Love the armoire. I am always searching craigslist for free china cabinets and armoires, which I have been successful in finding these. I find that people dont want china cabinets and buffets any longer and people are willing to just give them away. Love what your doing with your home.❤
Paint makes me nervous but my kitchen chairs need repainting. Also the surface of the kitchen table needs refinishing. But these will probably be summer projects. I really like how the dresser and the armoire turned out!
It is a little nerve-wracking but if you’re already thinking about it, maybe that means you’re ready! It’s a great feeling to give an old piece a new life! You got this!
Where is that beautiful, colorful floral wallpaper from where the green and pink dresser sits? The same floral wallpaper in your background when you’re speaking? It is stunning!!

I can well appreciate your comment about Spain! I was in Barcelona, on a tour bus, and we lasses what in the US i would have called a "Swap Meet", wher individuals and dealers bring things to sell, and i m7mbled so ething about wishing i could go and check it out. The guide heard me. "See that structure over there?" he said, pointing. That is a bullring that hasnt been used since the 70s. What the construction people are doing is making shops and boutiques that will open on the inner ring, which will be paved over to become parking for the shops, kind of like a mall. Very upscale. And when they are done, it will still look like a bul.ring from the outside. Some places would have torn it down and built something else, but we Spanish appreciate our history and the architectural uniqueness here. We dont just level everything and start over." He smiled at me. "Soooo......youre talking about my whole country, aren't you? " I said. "Maybe not the entire country. But we are much older than you. " And he went on about where we would be stopping next. It was glorious and humbling and i loved Barcelona.
That Davis cabinet dresser is a great find-Davis was a fine furniture maker in Nashville that made really great pieces. I’ve taken up going to estate sales on the weekend for some of the best stuff and prices in my area. I’m just south of you in East Tennessee and also live in a rural farmhouse.

I also adore coffee ☕️ and the thrill of the find! I agree it’s so much better to be able to be relaxed about the things…
I love the heavy texture on your walls.
Thanks!

That is a great tip about the latex and wax! I do that too. Love the finish wax gives. Thank you for your sweet comment ☺️

I love hearing about your travels! It's so fun to see how different cultures approach design and preservation.

It sounds like you have an amazing eye for vintage finds! That's a great hobby, too! Enjoy!!!
