Algonquin Canoe Camping in August, 3 Days, Rock Lake, Rence, Louisa
August 26,27,28 2023 In Algonquin Park.
Access was Rock Lake, we traveled in some light rain and wind through to Rence Lake for night 1. Along the way we bump into some friends! We cooked steak on the fire and enjoyed a great evening.
The next day we paddled to Lake Louisa and set up at a beautiful camp site. Jen does a bear hang, James rebuilt a fire pit, we swam and enjoyed a perfect day at camp. The next morning James catches a trout, and cooks it over the fire for breakfast - the perfect camp meal. We paddle and portage back towards Rock Lake.

Fall 2023; mid September, as the leaves were just starting to change, over a year in the making, we were finally able to take James' mom and partner out on their first backcountry canoe camping trip. James helped Rosanna and Steve plan all the gear that they needed to outfit themselves, they collected gear all summer long in preparation. Unfortunately two weeks before the initially planned fall...

Mid July 3 day canoe camping trip in Algonquin Park We had a beautiful first day paddling to the lake where we would spend night 1, only to find a big group of people stationed at 'our campsite'. Spent the first half hour on a site on Teepee cleaning out the fire pit and surrounding area. Super frustrating. I couldn't do anything else until it was clean though. I know anyone watching this video wouldn't do anything like that. Just expressing my frustration. Worst part is it was the first day of a 4 day trip so I had to carry their crap the whole trip and all the way home. After the tidying was done, it was as beautiful a trip as always.... 🙂

    Nice to see a new video 👍 Beauty trout for breakfast. Good to see you guys demonstrating safe fire advice, there really are too many people not using the proper fire pit and especially not putting fires out. Just too much slovenly behaviour in general. I was up backpacking last week end and at my second campsite someone had left a ton of junk. A four person tent, a bunch of cheap gear and dollar store kids toys, and a stack of empty tin cans. Also a trail of used wet wipes leading to the thunder box 🤮 LOL, at Emma keeping an eye on that loon cruising by the campsite 😂

    • @TwoPacksandaPup
      @TwoPacksandaPup 7 днів тому

      Oh no ☹️ very frustrating. Sorry you came across that. Really puts a damper on the good time. Some of these incidents I’m sure are from visitors who don’t care, but I’m convinced a lot of the undesired behaviour out in the parks comes from many folks simply not knowing. We figure if anyone who doesn’t know is watching, maybe we can help a little.

    Awesome video! Also great dog hat! I want to get one now 😀. I don’t know if anyone mentioned this but looks like Emma may have allergies - I recognize that foot and leg licking. My dog has both environmental and food allergies. The symptoms are different for each. When she had food she was allergic to, she would do the paw licking. I had to do an elimination diet. The problem was protein. She is allergic to chicken and beef so I have her on bison, venison and kangaroo and she’s doing great. This may or may not be the case with your dog but I wanted to raise it just in case. Keep making the great videos!

No other time.. we see that she is always putting in an effort to dry herself when she’s wet, even though she does not think twice about getting wet haha. So far her Dr does not think she has any allergies. We will keep an eye on it though.

    • @TwoPacksandaPup
      @TwoPacksandaPup Місяць тому

      Absolutely I did. Everything packed in should be packed out. There is no trash pick up in the backcountry and just because it’s ‘natural’ doesn’t mean it’s natural to the area , if it did not come from there, if we brought it in, we are more than capable of bringing it back out. We are responsible to do so. Leaving rinds behind will attract wildlife to the site and these things don’t decompose as quickly as we perceive that they do. Besides, there is no compost pile here. There is too much traffic in parks for anyone to think they can leave something behind. If every camper left something behind, natural or not it would become a dump. Literally.
