I played Morrowind's "Tribunal" DLC for the first time. It's not great.
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind is loved by so many, and after my first playthrough, I was excited to dive into every bit of content it had post basegame. But Tribunal left me disapointed and questioning Morrowind’s legacy as the "best RPG of all time". In this video I share my first ever experience with the quests, locations, and design of this expansion that made Morrowind feel like a letdown.

I tried ESO's "Morrowind" after beating the original. It was weird.
Переглядів 361 тис.21 день тому
In this video, I dive into ESO’s Morrowind and compare it directly to The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, exploring how the classic TES III locations (like Vivec City, Balmora, Seyda Neen, and The Red Mountain) stack up against the reimagined Vvardenfell in The Elder Scrolls Online. From the mysteries of Seyda Neen's near PERFECT preservation to the ziggurats of Vivec City still under constructio...
I finally BEAT The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind (first time ever)
Переглядів 91 тис.Місяць тому
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind has been out for over 20 years, and today I finally decided to beat it. This ancient relic is almost as old as I am; and as someone raised on Skyrim I found it "particularly" challenging to say the least. Sorry for not making this one THAT much longer; I made the executive decision to hyper-cut trials 5/6 for everyone's sanity. First Episode: ua-cam.com/video/Bp...

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind has never really been on my backlog of games to play. As a Skyrim player; I didn't really see any value in going back and playing a game older than myself. But you guys asked, and asked, and asked some more... so here we go: Welcome to my first attempt at The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind! Today we're attempting the 100% of Deshaan; and exploring one of the absolute best ESO zones I've played so far! For a 10-year old area, I was pleasantly surprised by the depth this zone had to offer. I've always heard ESO has some great storytelling and Elder Scrolls content. So I've decided to play it like a "singleplayer" game this time around; using immersive settings and taking a slower pa...

The Elder Scrolls Online is officially 10 years old; now's the perfect time to give it a try... right? In this video I'm going to be sharing my perspective (as a Skyrim player) on what I think about this MMORPG and trying it for the first time a decade late. I've exclusively played content that's been there since launch to give an honest first impression of the game without any DLC. I've played...

Solitude Comparison | SKYRIM vs ESO (Which one is better?)
For the "mysyerious open entrance" in the temple of Azura, if you read carefully the journal you will discover you have to read a book about it, in that book you'll discover that the temple will follow the lore about her, and that will be open ONLY at dawn and dusk. This is one of the reason i truly love morrowind, paired with the fact you have to work your way around by asking casually to NPCs (like you would have actually done IRL) and the abscence of questmarkers/shiny mission objects...this is how a game is supposed to be played to be an experience, and not just a casual way to pass some free time
This is a hilarious look at generational gaming. Morrowind was transformative as a game when it came out. There was almost nothing like it. Obviously, I have a special place in my heart for this game as I was a teenager when it came out, but I still love the vague quest directions and limited fast travel. It makes it feel like you have to be a “resident” of Vvardenfel, rather than an “outlander”. The setting and people are so unforgiving. Also, you may know by now, but people will treat you poorly if you have your weapon drawn around them.
@MakeMorrowindGreatAgain
I agree that Tribunal has its moments, but it was not a good expansion. Bloodmoon was much better. I wouldn't place it as high as the base game, but it was worth the time.
Tribunal was not on the same level as the base game. It was a slog. Bloodmoon is somewhat better. It's Nordic culture similar to Skyrim.
I will never say i had a shitty year again 😂
Doing the trials quests made me feel like I was brokering a diplomatic way out of doom, bringing everyone together. The writing in this game was fantastic. Politics, religions, racism, even the architecture of the different people. Weird mushroom trees and silt striders. That team put their soul into the game. Far cry from Bethesda today.
Oh no! a sewer counter, Civvie11 would be proud
That's the second comment about that guy. Is he a streamer?
@ not sure if he streams i’ve only seen his UA-cam videos, he plays all sorts but generally it’s janky shooter and old games. His videos are really well scripted, chock full of pop culture jokes and references to other games, lots of research and info about the old games industry. He has a running gag where every time he goes in a sewer in game he has a counter, he’s up to 700 or something now. He even got a mention by a new game developer, “sorry civvie” was written on the wall in a sewer. He’s also supported by a decent Patreon so there’s swearing and real person dialogue
The Dark Brotherhood assassin who shows up the first time you sleep is from an expansion area called Tribunal. The other is called Bloodmoon. Both released long after the main game so it was assumed that the main character would be far stronger when they were installed. But the game and it's expansions are always bundled now and usually install with the main game. If you don't want to be jumped as a newb just uninstall the Tribunal DLC. I replayed this a few years ago and had a lot of fun with Morrowind. But to be honest I played a wizard with endless mana. I couldn't be bothered finding places to rest up for hours every ten minutes. The boots of blinding speed can be usefull to a wizard. Unless you're a lizard. Do lizards have gizzards? Anyway, I prefer reading to spoken dialog because for me it plays faster. If the expansions are installed there is a port on the west side of Vvardenfell that can take you to island of Solstheim. That will bring you to the new area added with the Bloodmoon expansion.
Love seeing Morrowind again. Thanks for the video. Way too late, but enchanting is OP in TES3. You can just fly around like superman.
I’ve never played so I’m really enjoying the content definitely play blood moon!
Isn't Barbas supposed to be Clavicus's conscience?
Kinda, barbas actually has half of Calvicus' power. In skyrim, you can do a quest where Barbas admits the dragonborn is almost as strong as he is (a deadric prince) but it's lessened by the fact that Barbas has his other half of power.
Your thumbnail game is pretty strong
Thanks! They take me 2 hours easy to make. Hard to do without photoshop xD
I decided to "Hike" *Cuts to footage riding a fucking lava panther at turbo speed*
Would you believe it if I told you I have ZERO speed upgrades on the mount? ESO mounts can get WAY faster than that xD
@@FrostbreakYT Honestly that kind of makes it better haha
dont be fooled. this game isnt "free". requires you to own skyrim
Awesome video, boss. Now do Oblivion lmao
Regarding the scaling difference with Balmora; neither ESO nor the mainline games present Tamriel in a lore accurate scale. City sizes have pretty much always been downsized. The closest we have to a lore accurate scale would be in Daggerfall, which only covers parts of high rock and hammerfell.
I personally quite like how ESO makes new zones, adds lore and all that stuff. For me, they already did WAY more than OG Bethesda. And don't forget smaller DLC zones, which have their cool storylines too. Clockwork City, Horns of the Reach, Shadows of the Hist - such cool experiences. Although, I do not play ESO just like an MMO, it's not interesting to me anymore. I hop in once the new expansion drops, do the story, do the new sidestuff and new mini quests and wait for the next expansion. Quite similar to SWTOR, where MMO elements are not necessary, but story is till very nice.
FYI, the silt striders are only connected to the next "strider-station". If you want to go from Vivec to Balmora, for example, you have to stop at every bus stop along the route, one at a time. But, it is technically possible to get around using the silt sliders.
My friend, great video played the game an ungodly amount when I was younger. I must say, give magic a try. Not just destruction spells, alteration. High speed, acrobatics etc. the game is literally made to be broken. I remember jumping around the map with a hop toad spell, and feather falling saving my life last second. As well try running and swimming with your weapon sheathed. I seem to remember that make traversal faster
Bloodmoon way better tbh. but plz plz plz do an oblivion playthrough
Using a map isn't cheating, the game literally came with a map for this exact reason
Clicked episode 2 first, then clicked this after you said “you don’t have to watch it unless you love pain” 😂
Yo. New sub after finding your morrowind eso video and watching all the related videos. One critique if I may. Quoting an entire paragraph you wanted to cut is just saying that paragraph with extra steps. Cut it or keep it. Looking forward to the bloodmoon video 😂
I played in on the original xbox in 2013 when i was in foster care. No guides no help. Never beat it but i was madly inlove with it. However the combat is madly upsetting when starting out
Morrowind is, to me, the best Bethesda has ever done with an open world because it doesn't do quest markers. It gives you directions and descriptions and urges you to explore, not just to complete quests, but because the game is so focused on how you're a stranger in a strange land and learning ABOUT the world is pretty much a part of the prophecy.
Bloodmoon is dope
Funny because I'm literally your age (probably a couple years older but I'm Gen Z) and Morrowind has been my favorite game of all time since I played it. I don't think the comments people usually make are even relevant to what makes this game great. The combat is aged? Nah, it was bad when it came out. Thanks for doing these vids, love seeing someone experience this incredible beast for the first time.
I have 4500+ hours in the game, ask me anything!
Boots of blinding speed is a major requirement to enjoy this game😅😅
I played Morrowind for the first time this year 2024! I had a great time playing it! It is VERY frustrating. And require a ton of time reading fun facts in forums on the internet! Aa great and fun game!
One possible reason why azura is not miffed about vivec becoming a god despite its how recent it is (relatively speaking) is cause in skyrim theres a prophecy wall that basically describes the events of all the preceeding games, which means that vivec had to become a false god and fall in order for the LDB to exist and defeat alduin
FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT
as someone who loves the Elder Scrolls series but does not really like the mmo format, I appreciate this video since I wasnt planning on playing it but was still curious
I think you missed one of the best things about Tribunal by saying no to Helseth. When you agree to help them both, you are going back and forth between the two of them at a dizzying pace and you don't know who to believe or trust. The buildup of suspense is amazing, and then when Almalexia pops up as the killer of Sotha Sil... what a plot twist. I also think you might have missed a couple of more interesting quests, the one where you're tasked to prevent the assassination of Berenziah comes to mind. I actually liked the rest of Tribunal better the second time I played it, though I'm not sure why. I enjoyed the sewers instead of hating them, explored little nooks and crannies, stuff like that. It's also not fair to compare Tribunal to Mournhold and Clockwork City in ESO, which was made a decade after Morrowind and is based on lore from the earlier devs. I hope you will play Bloodmoon, I think you will like it better.
I’m glad I got the pleasure to play them both
Civvie will be sending a cease and Desist for the sewer counter
who/what is that?
13:04 "an argonian who's being bullied by racist dark elves". Are there any other kind of dark elves?
Welcome to a real rpg bro. Next try the og fallout. You will cry yourself to sleep for the next 10 years.
Ok zoomer
Also, take a look at project "Skywind". It's a huuuge, fan made, total conversion mod that uses skyrim to recreate Morrowind. It's really enormous, they made auditions for the voice-actors (yes, you too noticed the lack of voice acting in the original game) but they want to keep the overall feeling of this early 2000's gem.
I agree that the "get the approval from the 4 camps and 3 houses" is a series of boring fool errands quests, but on the other hand you learn everything about the internal disputes and political schemes between and in-between the houses, it's not completely useless (but yes, having to do all of them in sequence, all together, can be quite overwhelming).
Also, you must admit that usually when they tell you "talk to the boss of that place" and you have 60 NPC available, usually "the guy" is the one well dressed and in the luxury room, you could skip all the commoners in the palace :D I mean, most of the time it makes sense: the quest item is in the boss room, and you notice that you are in the boss room just by looking at it. most of the time. Then, sometimes the game is just punishing you for no reason.
Bloodmoon has a more interesting location and story. But I enjoyed tribunal and trekking through Dwemer ruins
Dude, focus more in Enchanting. Trust me it'll make your playthrough worthwhile
I dont like how ESO handled vvardenfell. I know its supposed to be vvardenfell but doesn't feel like it when im there despite knowing its supposed to be. Feels like a completely different place and balmora they just missed the mark on the stark empty bleak almost starwars esque feel of some of the towns and cities. I hate it. I get its before certain events happened that brought ash etc etc but its more than that its the vibe just feels "off"
Second comment, eso is what the gaming industry calls a "theme park mmo" its primary job with the story is to show you around the world and make sure you have fun wandering around. That being said I think eso does a very good job of capturing the sheer scale of tamriel in a way that hasn't been seen since arena. With wayshrines and mounts it doesn't always feel that way but trust me, try just walking from daggerfall to wayrest. Or try to get to a different zone without wayshrines often times you'll have to take multiple boat trips.
It’s better with some knowhow. Invest in endurance for health and agility for air swing
I dont think your mispronouncing Ald'run. The elder scrolls is actually quite known to intentionally include multiple pronunciations. Makes the setting more realistic and lived in.
okay good to know :)
1 hour of gameplay 29 hours gooning to argonian feet
too real
I can do with less "bangers" in these videos. It sounds obviously read off and doesn't feel like a natural way of saying it and doesn't feel good hearing it, in general, but less so when it's not said naturally. That and I said it before, and it should be said again. It's very taxing to hear "as a Skyrim player." I do not think there is anyone, who has interest in ESO, isn't a Skyrim Player themselves. it's nonsensical.
