What a journey! Thank you guys so much for all the support over the last 2 months since I started played ESO. I look forward to seeing what this UA-cam channel has in store for me (along with finally trying out the DLC content in ESO)! Have a great week everybody
Just wanted to let you know for the part where you mention not knowing stibbons. You should have ran into him on the west side of coldharbour, it’s a side quest.
I think one way to look at the final confrontation against Molag Bal, and this is a little contentious but I still think it makes sense, is that your main character isn't just a mortal by that point. On top of having the assistance of an equally powerful Daedric prince, your character is probably also a Shezzarine, an echo of Lorkhan. Over the course of the story you do mantle him in a lot of ways, and it's not the first time a mortal has been able to do this. Talos being the most obvious example. You're not just hopped up on soul magic, you are, almost from the moment he took your soul from you, a manifestation of the fallen god that created Nirn. This doesn't just make more sense, I think it also adds a lot of flavor to the confrontation. Molag Bal wants to take your realm and harm the very mortals you gifted mortality to in the first place. He has no idea what he's gotten himself into. Now whether or not your chracter is exactly aware of this is another conversation entirely, and it's not really explicitly confirmed or denied anywhere to my knowledge, just likely. Ultimately Elder Scrolls by its very nature leaves deeper details like that up to you, the player to decide for yourself. So if you like it, go for it, if you don't, it's not relevant. C0DA makes it canon.
These videos have to be some of the best feedback to ESO Overland/story the developers have ever received. Please continue making these! I’ve watched a few others & these are great. Too much ESO content online is negative & doesn’t do the game justice & the devs need normal gamers takes like this & not just hardcore endgame mmo players takes which they have heard endlessly haha.
Your comment reminded me of something i heard for the first time, a very very VERY long time ago... *"Wake up. We're here. Why are you shaking? Are you okay? Wake up!"* -Jiub
I think the big reason Coldharbour is so dead isn’t just its age - it’s that it’s not easily accessible. Other than teleporting to a friend in Coldharbour, the only way to get there is to go through quite a bit of the main quest before you can even access the zone, and then progress even more to access more of the zone. At this point, many veteran players probably have more than one character and I doubt they’d go through the main story multiple times, so Coldharbour kinda gets left behind past everyone’s first/main character
Yeah after the first time doing the quest I haven't bothered with it on any of my other characters. Sometimes I do enough to unlock all the soul passives, but otherwise I don't bother
Based on your comments on Abnur Tharn, i’d recommend doing the Elsweyr regions next and their prologues with their accompanying dungeons. Lore for daaaays. SOOOOO GOOOOOD. Another great video!
Yeah Elsweyr is high on my list because of the dragon stuff. I can't wait to get there. I know I have the morrowind/summerset before but I'm excited for that zone.
Coldharbour is the only zone that preserves the subzone system from the beta. And yeah Lyris comes back to life without explanation. The Prophet is canonically the one that dies, no matter which you choose.
My friend set up a private WoW server and I haven't played it in at least 15 years. I instantly knew I had been spoiled by ESO and the quests. Going from what I'm used to in ESO to basically every quest being kill x number of y in WoW is really jarring. When I first started playing ESO in 2015, the intention was to have a time waster between other games but it eventually became the thing I played every day and I have nearly 4000 hours in. Unlike most MMOs I have played the single player experience is actually really good. I didn't even start playing with other people until I finished all 3 faction stories. I'm glad to see you're enjoying it.
One error in your vid (lore-wise): Mehrunes Dagon is the Daedric Prince of Destruction, Ambition and Change. Molag Bal is the Daedric Prince of Brutality, Domination and Master of Schemes. Every Prince's influence affects the other but isn't too similar to the others. Like the Aedra, each is unique unto themselves but in the overall scheme (heh) of things, is only an intricate part of the whole puzzle. Engaging series so far, regardless! You'll have so much hair-pulling fun traversing the DLC zones. Looking forward to when you catch up to the rest of us on the Gold Road!!!
Stibbons is a recurring character from the DC zones, and he has quest in almost all DLC zones with his master, they go around doing things that backfire, and all tend to be on the funny side, there's another character from the EP, Rigurt the Brash that has a similar recurring aspect to him, basically a drunken diplomat, pretty nord, super funny, and you basically help him do diplomacy and solving his problems.
Another banger! One interesting thing is that a lot of people (myself included) think that the hooded figure at the very beginning of the story is meridia. same voice, same face to the very smallest detail.
Yeah I’ve found that this is a game where I turn off my background videos and get invested in the dialogue and story when doing new stories and questlines
Great video as always! If you want to get a complete view on main story, recommend doing 2 DLC dungeons: White Gold Tower and Imperial City Prison. But for now, we just waiting for Orsinium DLC!
Thank you so much! I played Orsinium for 8 hours straight yesterday; I never want to leave. God that zone is fucking awesome it's actually unreal. I will perhaps try out those dungeons during my upcoming livestream, thank you for the suggestion!
I've been avoiding these videos for a while now, since I never played ESO and was always a bit salty about it. But I finally gave in and dude, your videos are amazing. Chill, informative, honest but positive, and amazingly well made, I had so much fun watching your ESO stuff! It made me realize that for 10 years I missed on some pretty cool lore purely for being sad that, essencially, ESO is not ES6. Your videos were the last bit of exposure to it that needed to just see it for what it is and enjoy the good parts. Thanks man, I'll love to wait for more stuff from you :)
Hey so glad to hear that, thank you for the compliment! I totally get it, I had to spoil myself (a little) whenever I go online to look at trailers/cinematics for this game; but I'm glad you're sticking around :)
Glad you’re sticking around. ESO is such a good game. I’m happy you are enjoying it too. I can’t wait for you to see greymoor and summerset dlc those are my favorites. Cheers mate! See you next time.
That was so fantastic! Coldharbour was so cool the first time around. I personally haven't completed Wrothgar before, so I'm interested to see that video!
Yeah what an awesome experience for the first time. THIS is what I wish every "daedric prince" mission was like in ESO; but obviously I know that's a crazy ask.
Just subscribed. I have about 300 hours in ESO but I absolutely love the amount of effort you put into summarizing all aspects of each area individually in a way that is easy to digest. This game is absolutely massive, and re-listening to the lore of these areas I’ve already completed has been fun. Looking forward to future content!
I'm just happy a traditional Elder Scrolls player took the time to play this. My friend was super into Skyrim for years and once he got me to try ESO with him, he frigging left me there not knowing much at all bout the Elder Scrolls Universe. The game is super fun and I wish more people loved it too
Hi Frost. Just wanted to say you were the reason I got back into ESO. Like you I played off an on, on a non-consistent basis for several years. I have attention span issues and the world of ESO would overwhelm me with quests so I quit before I really began. But like you I made a new character ( Khajiit ! ) shut myself into one zone, and 100% the zone guide, main quest and sidequests and I feel much better playing the game this way. I don't 100% it in the same way as you getting all the fish and world bosses, but because of you I've been able to really enjoy this game to it's fullest. Thank you.
At the Cliffs of Failure, Angof is the Daggerfall Covenant villain. Out of the three there, he's the most interesting as he's the only one who regrets his past deeds and choices. Both Estre and Thallik only harbour the one regret: that they failed. Angof compared to those two is actually a reasonably nuanced villain, and at the end of the quest, he accepts his own fate and tells you to save the mages instead (or you could save all four).
Just discovered your channel through this video, super glad to hear your thoughts on this zone! Coldharbour is definitely my favorite part of base game and it has an amazingly unique siege vibe that I don't think any other game in the series, or even ESO itself in later content, has been able to capture. Looking forward to binging your stuff!
The Coldharbour world bosses might be slightly more difficult because it used to be the last zone. But generally these WBs aren't intended for groups to a larger degree than other vanilla WBs. There is atleast 1 WB in Deshaan that historically has been very hard to kill solo, some of them just have random difficulty spikes, probably because they were never intended to be soloed.
@@FrostbreakYT He (and Lady Laurant) are Covenant based characters, also reappearing in Murkmire. Similarly, Pack has Naryu - she plays a big role in Vvardenfell story.
I just finished the main story last night so this dropped at a perfect time haha! You are SO right. Coldharbour was super cool. The tone felt 'real', atmosphere was awesome, and I loved the opportunity to rescue extra people and they would make a difference in the final fight. I had so many "holy shit" moments in that final quest and fight.
Man, I wish I could experience the game like this again. I had totally forgot that I began playing ESO as an rpg player. With over 15k hours played and having fully embrace the MMO aspects long ago the way that I engage with ESO is so different to this that it might as well be a completely different game. 👏 great video Frost
Another banger video man, well done! Interesting that you didn't seem to get the quest before entering Coldharbour where the three faction leaders meet to discuss the possibility of joining forces against Molag Bal? I'm not sure if it's still in the game or if there's a specific way to get it but it is interesting. It leads to you entering Coldhabour a diiferent way. Either way, I'm loving this series, keep it up!
Thank you so much! I did, it's very briefly shown in the video about half way through the story-analysis. I just honestly didn't think it was worth it to mention: basically they all agree to send the guilds in their place so they can continue to war each other. Which doesn't make sense either, the guilds are supposed to be neutral and not under any faction's control; weird they needed permission to save the world.
@@FrostbreakYT Ahh fair! And good point! I thought you might have mentioned meeting the other leaders for the first time but you'll meet them again in the future! Orsinium is great, looking forward to the video!
Cool! He seemed funny. There was another guy, Darren I think. He also seemed "too good" to not be a random side character so maybe he'll show up again.
22:28 Regarding this aspect of the story - ESO was actually developed alongside Skyrim after Oblivion, so the use of Amulet of Kings here was an expansion of the ideas Oblivion introduced. Martin's sacrifice first and foremost was for the Dragonfires. Merely banishing Dagon could've been done with less - the plot of Battlespire deals with it for example - but it would not solve the problem of the Dragonfires being gone. In the Keyes novels we hear some speculation that Martin himself became the anchor for the Dragonfires, making the linking ritual no longer necessary as Martin-as-Akatosh is now keeping the fires active forever. But in ESO, that's not a problem. The Planemeld is stopped and Molag Bal is not able to walk on Nirn himself, so all that's left is to vanquish him in his home plane to put him into timeout. There's a pretty solid implication that you do roughly the same thing as Martin did, temporarily becoming Dragonborn to channel Akatosh's power (you even wear the Emperor's gear in the final sequence), and the Amulet is them left powered down for years if not centuries to come. Basically the same thing on a smaller scale.
Hell yah! I can’t wait to see your reaction to DLC content! IMO that’s where ESO really shines! Thanks for the ESO love! I love this game in all it’s forms but PVP is what keeps this juggernaut alive for me!🔥
An interesting point about the main story is that Varen seems to be the Canonical choice for sacrifice. You'll see why as you go through the DLC, but the involvement of characters from the Base Game suggests this heavily.
Yeah someone said on my livestream that he pops up once more at the end of some DLC. I really wish Michael Gambon did more stuff for this game, but I'm assuming his price tag was a bit high.
awesome video once again! regarding the wider world of nirn - i believe the developers have said that one of the main constraints placed on them by todd howard when they started working on ESO was that they would not venture outside the continent of tamriel. i dont remember where this was said exactly, but if memory serves it was during the period when they were promoting for the gold road chapter - the 10-year anniversary panel of developers or something like that
Thank you, that's very interesting insight. I'll have to try to find that clip, that would be useful as a source for any future content I make. Thank you for bringing that to my attention!
Hearing that the Coldharbour zone starts out with the old tutorial is crazy to me. I remember starting off in Coldharbor so many times when I tried my 100% runthrough years ago. As always, keep up the amazing content man!!!
It isn't really an Ayleid Ruin. It's the Direnni Tower, the oldest structure on Nirn. It was build by the divines during the Dawn Era to imprison Lorkhan. The tower alongside seven others, prevent Nirn from collapsing. The original main storyline for ESO was supposed to circle around this tower, before they decided to do the Coldharbour story. You will learn more about the towers in the Summerset Chapter.
Awesome video and I always look forward to your uploads! I did all the base games zones and then started dlc chronologically. (Imo, it makes everything, starting with Morrowind, more impactful as they bring a lot of base game characters into the big story) Have fun in Wrothgar!
You made it to the base games finally. Well done! I thoroughly enjoy your journey through the game. I was kinda hoping you would do it in chronological order but it is a great series nontheless. Orsinium is, to this day, my favorite DLC Zenimax released. Even with all the more recent chapters. I think you will have fun with it.
Hey, @FrostbreakYT. I just wanted to say that your videos have given me a new motivation to play eso. I am a casual endgame player. I have most of the hard modes for trials and dungeons and several trifectas but have only been a part of maybe 3 progression groups. But i have never played through any quests Really, any that I did were purely for power purposes and were spammed through. I have just started completing some zone quests ( right now I started through vvardenfell as it had current achievement bonuses this month ) and I have loved the quests. And it made me excited for you play through a few of the dlc zones. I've decided I'd like to really attempt to go hard on getting achievements both quest or role-playing style achievements and the harder mmo style achievements and pvp and I've found mixing both of these play styles has made me start loving eso even more then I did before starting this and really appreciate the work that has gone in to eso and how much I've missed. I am pumped to see you play through the dlc zones and possibly the harder dungeons and trials. Thanks for the videos!
A thing about the Rattlecage set that you talk about at 5:20 is that it doesn't actually give you a buff of 20% weapon/spell damage. What it does is give you the status effects that give those effects. While this sounds like the same thing, it is different because many other things give the same status effect, and the status effect does not stack. For example, the 4th ability in arcanist's Herald of the Tome tree gives that status effect while it is slotted on either bar. There are many other similar cases for different armor sets that give buffs instead of raw stats.
@@FrostbreakYT Glad I could help. I know that it took me a long time to understand the difference between giving a status effect and giving a stat buff. On the bright side, the rattlecage set is still probably better than any other coldharbor set you could use anyways, so it's not like it went to waste.
Fantastic video! I'm glad you enjoyed this area and I totally agree this area is annoying as hell to traverse. I think that is the point as the area's design is tied to the quest and its progression but it really prevents it from being a revisited area. By the way, I know ESO is limited with what they can do regarding choices as it is an MMO but I will say they do a good job (usually) of referring to your character's progression and build. For example, if you are a vampire you often get lines of dialogue from npcs referring to it. Specially in the Skyrim Chapter which is themed around vampires. NPCS will also remember you from what quests you have completed so completing things in order like you are doing is the best thing you can do. I will say because of the One Tamriel update, the main quest here has some "bugs" where characters remember you even though you never met them. This is because the game assumes you did all the alliance zones. This type of inconsistency doesnt really happen again as far as I remember so you will be glad to see more immersive references from NPCS going forward :)
When the main quest line is almost over the game goes "You know what? I want you to finish all those annoying quests in Coldharbour before you go to Molag Bal..." At that point, I was just rushing tru' those side quests dialogues so I could go back...
Sai Sahan also appears later in the Elsweyr chapter and I think even more so in the DLC to Elsweyr i think. I completely forgot, that I sacreficed one of them, I think it was Sai, but he definitely did appear later.
Lyris appears as a prominent character in ESOs Greymoor chapter. So there’s this argument that sacrificing Varen is the cannon choice in game. When I played ESO for the first time, Varen is who I chose to sacrifice, but the choice is up to anyone.
Wow, so interesting getting the perspective of a new player. The content is so ez now to the vets i think we forget that people still need help on things like solo'ing world bosses ect ect.
Only found your channel earlier and have now watched all of this series. Curious are you going to make new classes for ebonheart pack and the daggerfall covenant? I'm also looking forward to you trying Orsinium home to one the most challenging parts in the whole game.
It's something I've seriously thought about. I wouldn't mind trying a new class from the ground up. I'd have to try and make my argonian again (since it's in all my thumbnails/channel art; but I'd be down to try it out).
Your fight against Molag Bal actually bugged out at the end there. You weren't supposed to die against those Titans, you were supposed to do a unique finisher animation on Bal.
sadly, The Prophet is the one you should have sacrificed (canon wise) because both Lyris and Sai will appear in Future Chapters/DLC´s even if you sacrificed one of them. Kinda takes the choice from you.
Nothing wrong with starting ESO later, it just means there is more content to do. One of the detriments of having played for 10 years means I've cleared everything and have to wait for the Chapter.
Yeah the main campaign was fun and by far better than the fraction campaign. I can't wait to see your video on Orsinium. Will you include the achievements of maelstrom arena as well to your 100% achievement goal?
I must be the few that didn't enjoy Coldharbor, glad you did but the "Messages Across Tamriel" questline was annoying to me, I got lost, couldn't get the Shadowrunners before the wisp faded, and just too much frustrated me. The rest of the main quest including punching Molag bal in the face was fun though. I actually liked Lyris too. (I played ESO 10 years ago when it came out, but it felt so much harder, I hated Coldharbor more then but it seems easier now so I was able to finish the main quest finally. I returned after a number of years not playing)
Not me realizing the base game is what made me hate it from a story / lore perspective, I felt a lot like you did! Lots of very cool stuff, but cold-habour suuucked to traverse and is definitely why I initially quit as I didn't even have a mount and getting fast travels sucked, I also got rekt by the open world bosses as you mentioned. Made me feel like I was doing something wrong, this was 10 years ago though so what can you do.
Oh I remember Stibbons' (plural). He's the guy who copied himself many times and we had to fix things with the mage lady. I dont remember which zone though
I think not all the power you had in the battle against Molag Bal came from just the amulet. It was Akatosh's blessing, and the power of a divine is still vastly greater than that of a daedric prince, so you were able to wound Molag Bal by executing the will of Akatosh, and the amulet was just channelling that power into you, it wasn't the main source of it.
What a journey! Thank you guys so much for all the support over the last 2 months since I started played ESO. I look forward to seeing what this UA-cam channel has in store for me (along with finally trying out the DLC content in ESO)! Have a great week everybody

Coldharbour is definitely my favorite part of base game and it has an amazingly unique siege vibe that I don't think any other game in the series, or even ESO itself in later content, has been able to capture. Looking forward to binging your stuff!
I love the Stibbons quests all throughout ESO!
Just binged all the other videos and wanted more. What great timing!!
Awesome, thanks for tuning in!
Stibbons is one of my fave NPCs. Totally forgot about that part of his storyline. Looking forward to your next vid.
Yeah people say he's a recurring character, I guess not for the
@@FrostbreakYT He (and Lady Laurant) are Covenant based characters, also reappearing in Murkmire. Similarly, Pack has Naryu - she plays a big role in Vvardenfell story.
If frost break likes the main quest, he’s gonna cream his pants once he discovers pvp in cyrodiil and the imperial city.
Orsinium is great, looking forward to the video!
this is a good serie c:
Thanks c:
Congratulations man! Some of my favorite content right now. Keep it up.
Awesome video! Wrathgar is one of my favorite zones :)
It's really interesting to get this take on Coldharbour because I personally hated any content I did here and couldn't finish it
One thing I'll say about Sai Sahan is that he's the "last" dragon guard and his quest where you fight a *spoiler* dragon. It's a dope story
I played all of coldharbor and also all of Cadwell’s quests, because my friend said I get Cadwell’s hat. Worth it!
Stibborn is very memorable character from Daggerfall, you will see him a lot whenever yo ustart DC zones.
Cool! He seemed funny. There was another guy, Darren I think. He also seemed "too good" to not be a random side character so maybe he'll show up again.
@@FrostbreakYTDarrien is sort of the raz of the covonent. You"ll see him quite a bit when you go that way!
@@FrostbreakYTmost of characters you saw are from aliance questlines. you will see them whenever you start other aliances
I'm currently 100%ing murkmire. I've been working on order of release. So I finished summerset prior.
Mannimarco always comes back
Great video man. I played a little bit of Elswyr and it was a lot of fun. Can't wait for the DLC stuff, keep it up!
Basically the same thing on a smaller scale.
just like the boy on the pre-cracked egg container, i can firmly say "I enjoy" to this series.
Hell yah! I can’t wait to see your reaction to DLC content! IMO that’s where ESO really shines! Thanks for the ESO love! I love this game in all it’s forms but PVP is what keeps this juggernaut alive for me!🔥
Can't wait!
This is quality work. Worth it.
Much appreciated
glad you are enjoying ESO. is a great game. nice videos. keep it up bro
This is the best ESO video I have seen, usually I'm disinterested in 15 seconds
Hey that's great! Thank you for the comment :)
awesome video once again!
regarding the wider world of nirn - i believe the developers have said that one of the main constraints placed on them by todd howard when they started working on ESO was that they would not venture outside the continent of tamriel. i dont remember where this was said exactly, but if memory serves it was during the period when they were promoting for the gold road chapter - the 10-year anniversary panel of developers or something like that
Thank you, that's very interesting insight.
Do you mean you never knew Coldharbour WAS the old tutorial zone? Or you're surprised it no longer IS the tutorial zone?
I'm surprised it no longer is the tutorial zone. That blew my mind.
@@jeffreysiegfried9607 Yeah it's now this weird Alyied ruin with a bunch of portals. They completely redid it.
*insert gif of Matt Damon from Saving Private Ryan turning old here.*
(Imo, it makes everything, starting with Morrowind, more impactful as they bring a lot of base game characters into the big story)
Have fun in Wrothgar!
Glad you like them! I'm looking forward to seein some Orc!
Thank you! Wow the bar is high for Orsinium I guess. Other people have told me the same thing!
Abnur Tharn is the most interesting of the Companions.
Orsinium is a DLC zone, but to me it felt more like a base game zone. They really started to pick up in quality starting at Morrowind.
Crap. I have the ability on my bar, so I guess I wasn't using that 5 piece bonus correctly. Thank you for the insight
A NEW eso content creator???!
These are really good! Cant wait for Wrothgar
Would love to see you review the later dlcs necrom and gold road are great!
I've really only played this part of eso and i thought it was great but never played farther. This series has gotten me to want to give it another go.
That's awesome! So happy to hear :)
Love these videos. Keep up the good work my goat
Hell yah baby, Frost is back!
yeah baby that's what I've been waiting for
My boy finally reached the tutorial zone
Your fight against Molag Bal actually bugged out at the end there.
You weren't supposed to die against those Titans, you were supposed to do a unique finisher animation on Bal.
Oh. That's weird, I'll have to lookup an example online. It did feel a bit awkward for sure...
I am so happy you exist
sadly, The Prophet is the one you should have sacrificed (canon wise) because both Lyris and Sai will appear in Future Chapters/DLC´s even if you sacrificed one of them. Kinda takes the choice from you.
Yeah that's too bad... still a good campaign tho
@@FrostbreakYT for sure
You lowkey made me reinstall the game, thanks for making these videos!
Your inspired scholarship skill where your weapons glow green give the same exact buff as the 5th piece of rattlecage set btw.
Angof has some good dialogue if youve done the daggerfall covenant zone before coming to the game where you meet Estre again
Joke's on you nerd. You hit 10K subs! Keep up the good work man! Love the vids.
Nothing wrong with starting ESO later, it just means there is more content to do. One of the detriments of having played for 10 years means I've cleared everything and have to wait for the Chapter.
as always - top content
Much appreciated
@@FrostbreakYT do you plan to walkthrough fighters and mage guilds storyline and give your review? Maybe like a little spin-off video
You can recruit a Lamia Queen to help in final assault!
Amazing video man 👌
Thank you!
To this day, no piece of ESO content has topped Orsinium. Enjoy every second of that one! You'll be spoiled going forward afterwards
Love your vids man
Thank you so much
in the german client Abnur Tharn has the synchronized voice of Dr. House :D
I was waiting for this one!
Hope you enjoyed it!
Yeah the main campaign was fun and by far better than the fraction campaign. I can't wait to see your video on Orsinium. Will you include the achievements of maelstrom arena as well to your 100% achievement goal?
I guess you’re saving the best alliance for last 😉🦁💙
Time will tell!
we made it boys
Lets fucking go bro. Was waiting for this video
Woohooo!!
I also killed Lyris for the same reason xD
Shame you didn't meet Stibbons, I think he's on every other alliance, my favourite character
Yeah it's too bad, he seems funny haha.
Keep up the good work
I must be the few that didn't enjoy Coldharbor, glad you did but the "Messages Across Tamriel" questline was annoying to me, I got lost, couldn't get the Shadowrunners before the wisp faded, and just too much frustrated me.
I know you explained why, but I’m still kinda mad that you sacrificed Lyris, ngl. That shit be pissin me off 😆
Playing through coldharbour right now gomna have to have a few weeks to watch this video 😢
DANG IT! I Thought I was finally ahead!
hehe. I'm on that grind
Keep slaying my king
I will o7
