Smash that like button 👊👍
Yes please would be interesting to know
Great video mate. Keep them coming. 👊🏻👊🏻
Thanks mate will do 👊
Didn't even know it existed.
All wastes should come with that type of seal as standard.
They always leak unless you use plumbers mate or silicone.
Perfect price, not over charged.
Thanks mate 👍👍
love your content on here and tiktok, as an apprentice its nice to see your method of work and to learn from it
Really appreciated mate thank you 👊
Great Video, I work for one of the big boys so it's good to see what the markets like for future reference. Good to see.thanks
Be good go see more in depth breakdown
Cheers mate, will have to do a video had a few ask 👍
Firstly thank you for your content which I really enjoyed. I tried to change the trap in the basin sink once and managed to successfully remove the old trap which was ok to do but when it came to putting back a new trap with plumbers mait it got a bit messy and after repeated failures for hours and hours I gave up and called a plumber and it cost me £90 which is a London price. I would still give another crack at it and would not be put off again as I like to try and give things a go myself and learn. You got yourself a like and a new subscriber 😊.
I love it when people have a go themselves, it’s all personal learning and great satisfaction if you can get it done yourself so fair play for having a go I would always encourage people to have a go as long as it’s safe to do so 👍 thanks for the sub glad you enjoyed the content mate
Nice episode.
As for prices, I'm always a bit awkward when asked how long something took me. I do not charge for the time, but for the job done. And clients do not pay solely for my time, they pay for my knowledge and the ability to get the job done in professional manner. Even if there are some time consuming jobs and it would be better to price them hourly, I prefer fixed price.
As they say, I spent 10 years learning to get it done in 10 minutes.
Il agree, when your experienced price is always better. Never punish yourself for experience and being fast and efficient plus a fixed price everyone knows where they stand 👍
Prices seem fair to me. I'd be interested in how you work out your hourly rate in case I do need to go on my own after my level 2. I'm in Telford area so not a million miles from you.
I like them basin waste washers. And the mcalpine Centre pin wastes are good too. Less mess when installing. 😊
Always use mcalpine wastes they am good, to be honest them waste seals am like marmite you will either love them or hate them, some people can’t get on with them, I think them great
Il look at doing a video cause it’s worth knowing how to start with hourly, daily rates 👌👍
Hi pal yea I’m really happy if you can share how you do the hourly and day rate 👍👍 great content
Cheers mate, appreciated, few have asked so Il do a video 👍
Great video buddy 👍 just about to go solo myself so a price video would be great 👍
Thanks mate, no problem il look at doing a video on it 👍
@@bluebulldog_uk great buddy cheers 👍im in West Midlands as well 😉
Really good video, I’ve been on my own for a couple of years now but I’ve always struggled with pricing so any advice on this would be appreciated 👍👍
Will do a video on it mate hopefully it will help 👍
Great is that standard service on the Worcester buddy that Scottish gas guy doesn't hang about I've the same boiler, great content I have the same bath and sink plugs know how to change them , there on the blink, keep the content comn especially the costs give you a rough idea of what something will cost if you get a plumber in cheers buddy 😂😂😂
Quick question do you do a working pressure at meter and then boiler to see the difference in mb also what about other gas appliances that need to be running as well when testing and not just the boiler.
Not bad mate , I can tell, you like me , you do it properly, and you sleep with no worries at night , I like your attitude.
100% rather take the extra time and know it’s done properly, cheers mate 👍
Seem a bit cheap to me, especially for Birmingham, but as you said there too much competition out there, so not far off at all I'd have been £120 including materials for that basin job but I'm not vat registered, yet
Never put the top washers on basin wastes leaves a slight lip water sits around it remember my apprentice trying it on his own jobs with metal back but and cracked basin I take them off and use silicone don’t use them big arse rubbers under aswell nowt wrong with abit of silicone 👍💪 them bath pop l up waste if you undo the small screw and strip it clean them with fine sand paper re grease and put back together 🤌👊
I normally only leave them on 1 bar as the expansion esssel is only 6 liters on them
Top video so your prices are including the materials or materials on top of that price etc
Including materials mate 👍
Would love to know how you calculate your hourly rate/ price up jobs. It would really help out as a newly qualified engineer.
Fair pricing. I'm in bradford and people are fitting boilers for £200 and boiler service for £30 sadly its a race to the bottom here.
I have a fixed price of £130 for boiler repairs + parts.
Same round the midlands mate, there’s people working for nothing…don’t know how they make a living!
Wooow £200! Hampshire - £950 for a really shitty Vaillant/Tado install (I supplied the combi). No flush of the system, ripples on the pipes (I felt I was better at bending offsets than my installer!), huge cracks/chunks of the bricks missing, decorative flange on flue outside is still inch from the wall. It was a such missed opportunity - I ripped the kitchen completely out, so the access to every pipe and wall was like in the college training bay. What's really annoying - guy lied to me: due to the maximising space, I wanted a tight install under the boiler with an immediate turn of all pipes on the side towards inside the plasterboard-covered pipe run (which I even ripped for the bugger). He lied to me, that Vaillant boiler supplied pipes cannot be bent or trimmed, and the gas pipe requires new entry hole in the wall (another massacred 2 bricks, instead of using the existing supply with + extra 2 meters of the pipe with one 90 bend.) Dont even mention use of Brasso.. I got angry and... just completed my first 2 months in level2 plumbing. Sadly, in Britain, if you are after quality - you have to learn and do the things yourself. I will get a gas certification and sort out that flue.

He mugged you off.
No desludge?
If you have a breakdown, your warranty has gone out the window.
Dudley basin waste! superb piece of kit
Some people don’t like them, I think them great same as you 👍
When moving a boiler, if the original valve’s have ceased up, do you buy a new hardware pack or just fit with off the shelf components? (Was an Ideal ESP1 last time)
New manufacturers hardware pack if you have to replace normally
Thanks for that iam not charging enough I normally charge £50 for that job working on 30 mins Labour + parts
£100 plus vat including parts. Thats cheap. The industry's problem is that businesses think the only way to add value is to compete with others. Competitive advantages can be gained via other methods like focusing on high quality, finding a niche, expertise, manner, appearance, speed, answer the phone, reactive maintenance callouts are another great revenue earner (That means you have to prioritise customers based on revenue/profit rather than their place in your diary). Markup is essential for another great profit enhancer. Credit accounts and discounts aren't for bidding, they're for the business to sell back to the customer at rrp.
Tesco don't don't sell their goods to the consumer for the price they bought them for.
You also need to work out which repeat customers are good for business eg make a profit on.
It's about time the industry added a business module to the training course. Maybe uprate the course to diploma level.
I couldn’t prioritise a customer for profit, only time I might try and move a customer is if someone has an emergency but if a customer has a booked appointment with me 99/100 they will get me there for the time me and the customer agreed, might be bad business as the other job may pay more but I’ve built a good strong customer base turning up when I say I will , answering my phone and calling people back and being upfront with my prices.
I’m on my second tub of JetBlue. I’m 37 and been plumbing since I was 16 🤣
😂😂👍 truth right there, lasts forever
Do you ever have to change the condense trap seals, have had loads where that top seal won’t reseal after cleaning and putting back together.
Yes mate if they look a little flat il replace them 👍
Had a spell of them even if they looked ok would just leak so tend to change them majority of times now. Nice work mate 👍
God that watch must get in the way !
It’s took a battering to be fair! Like it to keep track of my steps and floors climbed in a day, normally a lot doing this job 😂
I'm a plumber I didn't realise you can source the bath clicker replacements where do you get yours? The thing what can you charge for that I mean is it not just you losing money better off charging for a new waste its an extra job. Just my oppinion!
Can get them off Amazon, £3/4 for a couple. Job took 2 minutes and charged extra £20 as it was an extra while I fixed basin. Imagine you had a minimum charge you walk in and it’s that problem, your in and out in 5/10 minutes being fast and efficient, just another view point 👍
@@bluebulldog_uk Fair point!
You need a mini cam blue toothed to your phone, that you could wear on your forehead. Then you've got both hands. Enjoying the video's bud.
Looking into a set up mate 👍👍 glad your enjoying the content much appreciated
Hey mate are you able to confirm the size of the box spanner? Would be handy to know. Thanks. Awesome vlog with the tips by the way.
Basin spanner 46mm and 50mm and cheers mate much appreciated 👊👍
@@bluebulldog_uk top lad nice one mate.
I bought that exact spanner and dint find any basin nuts it fitted. Just gone back to using grips
So on the worcester service .you dont remove the baffles and clean heat exchanger ??
Only on a full strip and clean service
Great videos .keep em coming 👍I've had a few of those Worcester ones with stuck solid lower baffle
Also prv on baxi just unscrew inners and put new inners in. So much easier as thats what its all about, making the job easier 😃
I do on most to be honest, had the time and was doing the video so thought I would do full valve, loads quicker changing guts thou 👍
You doing the live with Dan on Thursday
Will be Live this Thursday at 9pm but Dan is away this week on holiday, lucky him 😂 I’ve got some people coming on thou to help fill in 👍
100 quid for a new basin waste and small repair to bath waste or 100 quid for that service
Definitely better doing wastes all day lol.
Lot more work in a service. Still made a few quid that day though. Fair play
£100 for waste repairs, was going to be £80 plus VAT but just added £20 for bath as it was one of them “while your here” jobs so thought £20 extra, would be nice to have 5 of them jobs a day 😂
That worcester has defo had a new fan at some point as the rain cover for fan was missing lol
Definitely, someone couldn’t be bothered to put it back 😂
You’re less than half the price of my plumber. He doesn’t do anything for less that £225 and you do a thorough job. I live near London though.
please set the camera on a tripod
I’ve got one…in the van somewhere 😂 I do need to start using it properly so fair comment 👍
If someone can get their hand in to get to expansion il buy them a beer you must have little girl hands to get in there
My Hands ain’t the smallest 😂👍
seams a good price to me i would happily pay your price .i paid £80 all the man did was a gas test he said that was a service
Thanks mate appreciate the feedback 👍
McAlpine wastes/traps every time, don’t bother with anything else
London £ 90 + parking £ 6 hr + c charge £15 + vat some company s charge by the half hr + call out fee
Wow. Fairly new plumber and soon heating engineer, got a lot of reading up to do in next couple of weeks 🫣 #ACS coming up.
But I recently changed trap and waste PLUS put in a bidet hose. I charged £70 for it. Did I rip myself off? 😂
Still going through my pricing methodology which I've been finding very tricky at times.
Was that including materials? I’m doing the video soon on how to work it out so might help you 👍
@@bluebulldog_uk not including materials. Well just a couple of isolation valves from my end but he bought all other materials.
