You are my hero! My toilet sounded like a fog horn after every flush and I was calling a plumber tomorrow. Thought I’d give UA-cam University a try and found your video. Worked like a charm and stopped the fog horn!! The fill valve leaks a little so instead of calling a plumber, I’m on the hunt for replacement parts for the valve. Thank you so very much!!
This is the best video I searched for the whole morning with a hissing toilet. Very informative and clear step by step instructions. Much appreciated! If you have a Gerber 28-990 and WDI flush valve, this is the video!!!
Perfect!!!! My valve recently started a high pitched squeal just before it shut off after every fill. I followed your cleaning instructions.....no more squealing.......
Worked like a charm. Thanks for sharing. Saved me time and hassle of replacing. So appreciative of guys like you for putting this content out there. Makes the modern world an easier and better place in which to live
Awesome! Able to fix two toilets in my house after getting a high waste bill. Called the utility company and they said to check the toilet and sure enough, it's been running the whole time. The water will overflow and even goes over the floater. After following these step I was able to fix whatever issues it had, and the water is stopped once it reaches the floater. Thanks !
Thank you for this video!! My brother is hosting a party tonight and he was having this his exact issue on his toilet that the guests will use. We were able to follow along and fix the issue!
Very nice work, Robert. After I flushed the fill valve, the leak is gone and the tank got filled up to the level desired again. Thanks for saving me the money and time to head to the hardware store to get a replacement fill valve. A+ Video Post!!!!!! THANK YOU!
Thank you so much for sharing this video, you saved me 150$ for a plumber. I did not find any debris while cleaning the parts but just followed the steps exactly and it fixed the Fill valve issue.
Thank you so much Robert for your video post. I had the issue with our toilet and I was able to fix it. You saved me a bunch of aggravation........ and plumber cost. Bless you!!!!
Super helpful and clear video. FIXED MY LEAK. I was just about to head out to a local big box store to buy a new replacement float and valve (seems no one carries this WDI brand in my area), but I spent about 2 minutes checking out your video and then followed it as I dissembled and reassembled my valve. 5 minutes later, when I turned my water back on, it was no longer leaking. You saved me 60 minutes traveling back and forth to make the selection/purchase and another 30 minutes to get the the old assembly out and the new one in (assuming everything went without hassle or problems). So, not tools, no bailing, no towels, and no hassle. THANK YOU! I had Googled many sites and kept getting the same bad advice, "If your valve is leaking, go by a new assembly and replace the old one". However it seems I only needed you to show me how easy it was to to remove a few pieces of plastic and clean the rubber gaskets. So, my advice for anyone that has a WDI 3831W that is hissing or leaking, give this 5 minute cleaning a try...., it may save you a little money, some headache, and a lot of time (also a lot of money if you procrastinate getting that leak taken care of).
I hope cleaning the seal works, mine wasn't even dirty. But the video was spot on to take the whole WDI toilet apart. And I've NEVER done any toilet work before.
SUCCESS! Tried it one more time from start to finish and it no longer leaks. Guess I will return the Korky. I could not get a grip on the nut underneath the tank to install the Korky. Thanks for the info on the WDI!
My WDI fill valve looks almost like this. The gasket and o-ring is similar if not the same. The video helps alot in taking it apart. However mine is stll leaking after multiple clean and reassembly. What else can I do? There is no retailer in my country selling replacement gasket and o-ring.
Very well done!. One issue I'm having is after reassembling the float distributor cap and locking it in, it is about a 1/4" off in lining up with the float. Any suggestions?
Appreciate the video! I have a WDI B38x fill valve. How do I remove the blue cap? I'm afraid I might break it if I used brute force. Is there a lock underneath?
Finally, a WDI product video. I have been limping along the last two months by correcting the water inflow into the tank as needed. Although your video was easy to understand, I managed to mess up my repair. I have tried with water and without water to get the top of the float into the bottom. I can not see what's preventing this. Can you tell me why? I would like to replace the WDI fill with a Korky but could not the WDI out of the tank. Any suggestions? THX!
OK, I figured out how the flap fits into the bottom. But I cannot stop the valve from leaking. The WDI is just over 2 years old. From what I read, it has reached the end of its life. So I am hoping you will do a video of replacing the DWI fill valve. (Replacing with a Korky would be great!)
Or just pay the $15 for a new one, your done in 10 minutes with half the time invested. If it needs to be taken totally apart it probably needs replacing anyway.
Thank you…. Edit: actually, good luck with that. Cheap garbage American Standard cost cutting and price gouging. It’ll break when you try any of this. Just get a new fill tube.

This is a phenomenal video, Robert. I've watched it twice and am heading down the hall to be a family hero!
Thanks for the video! This solved my issue of the toilet constantly running AND got rid of the high pitch noise after a flush.
My hero! I had a “squealing” toilet and this was the perfect solution. Thanks!!

Such a simple thing so gave it a try for a toilet that started running last night. Worked like a charm, thank you!
Thanks! Been trying to find this valve to figure out how to open it!

Thanks for the video, great tutorial, it helped me fix the leak ::))
Worked like a charm
Very well done!. One issue I'm having is after reassembling the float distributor cap and locking it in, it is about a 1/4" off in lining up with the float. Any suggestions?
If the o ring is warped would that be the reason why it's making a noise?
Could be several different issues. I recommend contacting a plumbing expert to identify your specific problem.
I separated the bottom and top part of float! Will I need an entirely new system?
Appreciate the video! I have a WDI B38x fill valve. How do I remove the blue cap? I'm afraid I might break it if I used brute force. Is there a lock underneath?

I recommend giving WDI's tech hotline a call to help resolve the issue asap: 800-391-9821
Thanks that helped me!
Perfect .thank you. I Fix a problem
Thank you
It really works
it works! but this valve is too complex TBH
Or just pay the $15 for a new one, your done in 10 minutes with half the time invested. If it needs to be taken totally apart it probably needs replacing anyway.
Boooo that’s not the point. I enjoyed this video and learned about this fill value. Fixing things is satisfying
Thank you…. Edit: actually, good luck with that. Cheap garbage American Standard cost cutting and price gouging. It’ll break when you try any of this. Just get a new fill tube.
Wish I could like this more than once. So valuable, keep referring back to it
