It is out of rhythm though. I love this song, this version of it and Chris Cornell in general but still, he keeps going out of rhythm. And I am a musician, not that I think it matters. At some points in the video he goes out of rhythm so much that someone who has never heard music before could notice.
John Sullivan pretty basic guitar player? His compositions are far beyond the skill level of your average guitar player. Listen the “preaching the end of the world” which is a pretty crazy 20 something chord progression. “sunshower” or the acoustic version of “like suicide” or “seasons”

I met him in a Seattle music store in 1993. He was exactly what you would expect. His siblings had a band called “Inflatable Soul” that toured the scene. Also incredibly talented.
The music video to this scared the hell out of me as a kid, especially the melting Barbie.....20 or so years later, I realize just how hauntingly beautiful this song is. RIP.
I always come back to this amazing acoustic version for a listen. I loved and listened to Chris for a long time and man it hurt when he passed. It was like a part of my soul died with him. I cried listening to this version over and over. The lyrics became more and more real and deep with the thought of him gone and no longer here. The sounds of his voice doing lead and BU give me chills everytime . The wailing BLACK HOLE SUN got me good in the feels, i felt that. RIP Chris, you are not a person that can or will ever be forgotten. ❤😢

I remember His passing like yesterday. I was in a little boutique hotel in Belgrade, Serbia and this song was playing while I slept and dreamt vividly. I awoke to the television playing this song while announcing His passing. I’ve always loved this song and the crazy ass video. Rest Easy Sir🙏🏾✨
I like how in the “hang my head, drown my fear” part, the guitar sounds save and caring for the “hang my head”, but the “drown my fear” sounds ominous, dissonant, and even a little foreboding.
When I was watching this, I was unaware that he had died. And yet, when he looked up from the microphone and you could see the depth of sadness in his eyes, I thought to myself how truly lost he looked. After reading some of the comments and finding out that he is dead, now I know why.
A part of the soul of many of the 90s kids died with him, a part that is now unreachable and irretrievable. May you keep coming into my dreams from time to time, Chris. Love you forever
Always amazes me that Chris Cornell and the rest of the band kept saying this song had absolutely no meaning and that it was just a gibberish stream of words that ended up being catchy... one of them even laughed that fans liked it so much. "Of the song itself, Cornell said, “If you read the lyrics to the verses, it’s sort of surreal, esoteric word painting. It was written very quickly. It was stream of consciousness. I wasn’t trying to say anything specific. I ate some cottage cheese that turned, and I wrote those lyrics” he said of Black Hole Sun. “It’s just sort of a surreal dreamscape, a weird, play-with-the-title kind of song. Lyrically it’s probably the closest to me just playing with words for words’ sake, of anything I’ve written. I guess it worked for a lot of people who heard it, but I have no idea how you’d begin to take that one literally.”
He said in another interview that he dreamed the whole song. And the next day he could play it just as it is which is the version I actually believe. He was a conduit for art and music to flow naturally through as he could do absolutely anything he desired with it.
It's ok, I kinda like when words don't make sense in songs, I think the depth of this song is musical. The words serve the atmosphere of it, they don't have a meaning per se but they do hold a mood

Boiling heat, summer stench
'Neath the black the sky looks dead
Call my name through the cream
And I'll hear you scream again
Black hole sun
Won't you come
And wash away the rain
Black hole sun
Won't you come
Won't you come (won't you come)
Stuttering, cold and damp
Steal the warm wind tired friend
Times are gone for honest men
And sometimes far too long for snakes
In my shoes, a walking sleep
And my youth I pray to keep
Heaven sent hell away

Stupormundi7 saw few days ago the Sonic highways docu again, the "Seattle" Segment, and saw Chris in this,so hard anyway..
and now Warrel Dane from Nevermore.
Its the water, have you heard about muscle Schoals??
ya, they keep killing themselves.
at least New Orleans bands keep making great music.
RIP Dime Bag
Clearanceman2 chris was not on heroin. he had an addiction to oxycontin ....a synthetic form of morphine. i used to be on it for pain. un fortunately he got addicted and when trying to go off of had pain everywhere. he called it a nightmare.
My girl said this song is out of rhythm. Now she's single.
Ayan Dasgupta So are you.
cheap shit. moron.
do you still get those 2am booty calls?? those are the best...cause they leave afterward..lmao
hahaha fantastic
It is out of rhythm though. I love this song, this version of it and Chris Cornell in general but still, he keeps going out of rhythm.
And I am a musician, not that I think it matters. At some points in the video he goes out of rhythm so much that someone who has never heard music before could notice.
The suffering you went through from the world and now you are blissed out all day, we still listen to you down here all of the time.
I wonder why they never played at the MTV unplugged? Since Chris played ridiculously great acoustically.
I also wonder why. Maybe we will never understand.
If I remember correctly it’s because they were touring overseas for either Superunknown or Down on Upside. AIC did it instead
John Sullivan pretty basic guitar player? His compositions are far beyond the skill level of your average guitar player. Listen the “preaching the end of the world” which is a pretty crazy 20 something chord progression. “sunshower” or the acoustic version of “like suicide” or “seasons”
@@jsullivan2112 yea..the same way george harrison is a pretty basic guitar player. Nothing is overly 'technical' but composing the right sequence of notes thatll touch a mass amount of souls is something completely different(which Chris did dozens of times over)and arguably far more difficult. Heard of david gilmour?
ghee4345 AIC killed that shit too. That’s my favorite unplugged
I’m only fourteen and the memory of Chris Cornell will love on in me and my children, he still lives on, and he helps me through every day of my life, RIP Chris Cornell
Years later and still hearing him brings tears to my eyes, miss you Chris.
That's the kind of song I don't feel like singing along. I just want to hear and admire his perfect voice. Wonderful and at the same time, sad...
I can’t even sing along with this song anymore. The second I get to “no one sings like you anymore” I turn into a blubbering mess.
This man carried me through many hard times with his music and he ALWAYS will! Thanks Chris I will FOREVER miss you brother!
Its amazing how you can see some kind of mysticism through Chris's eyes when he looks at the camera and the way he looks around...slamming this version in february 2024🔥
Such a huge loss. Such a humble guy. Incredible talent and voice. Rest in peace Chris.
Rip man I miss his voice, one of a kind.
mee too :(
His voice is incredible. This song always moves me so much. RIP ❤️
Chris Cornell was not only a great singer, musician, composer and lyricist he was also the frontman of 2 of the greatest bands ever Soundgarden and Audioslave (and also Temple of the dogs and great solo carreer). Would love your input on our last video, review from people having the same taste is always great : ua-cam.com/video/ufF4gUA_6rQ/v-deo.html
Close your eyes. Put headphones on. And listen to a masterpiece.
I literally just did that,I felt like I was in the room with him. And when I opened my eyes, tears were running down my cheeks. Such a beautiful song, rip Chris
He remains the only celebrity whose death I mourned. 2 years later I still miss him.
Him and Lemmy hit very hard... Still hit hard... And UA-cam
keeps the loss very fresh in my mind.
He was a drug addict. Sorry you miss idiots.

The sorrow in that stare at 1:42 gives me goosebumps, everytime. I think that he was already gone at that point. It's hard to watch this, but its' definitely the best rendition of this song.
NO ONE SINGS LIKE YOU ANYMORE, CHRIS.
Alan Rodrigo 3:24 more over
So true and such a loss.
Alan Rodrigo such a beautiful rendition of this song.. the piano makes it sound a bit erie. Love it!
Kinda reminds me of that chilling expression Kurt makes towards the end of "Where Did You Sleep Last Night"
Andrew Heiman yes, I thought the same the first time I watch the vid. Really sad cause you can feel the pain in those eyes
Layne Staley and him both have the best voices ever to grace the rock genre. there is truly no comparison.

Since i was 15 this man has stirred something inside me ...literally everyone I hear and see him. It's insane.....and I mean EVERY SINGLE TIME . My heart ❤ 💙
[Verse 1]
In my eyes, indisposed
In disguises no one knows
Hides the face, lies the snake
The sun in my disgrace
Boiling heat, summer stench
'Neath the black the sky looks dead
Call my name through the cream
And I'll hear you scream again
[Chorus]
Black hole sun, won't you come
And wash away the rain?
Black hole sun, won't you come?
Won't you come? Won't you come?
[Verse 2]
Stuttering, cold and damp
Steal the warm wind tired friend
Times are gone for honest men
And sometimes far too long for snakes
In my shoes, a walking sleep
And my youth I pray to keep
Heaven send Hell away
No one sings like you anymore
[Chorus]
Black hole sun, won't you come
And wash away the rain?
Black hole sun, won't you come?

Won't you come?
Black hole sun, black hole sun

Hang my head, drown my fear
Till you all just disappear

Thank you for posting this. I just sang it to myself after he finished.
i love it to but landlord put me out after i wrote song on outside of the house, courtney love fan id say , lol
I first became acquainted with his music from the song, "I am the Highway."
Sent chills through me. Hit the center of some spiritual nerve.
One of my absolute favorite songs from Audioslave. I listen to it when I need to go out for a drive at night.
His voice its Just like his face... Simply Unreal...too beautiful and perfect ...maybe we had a beautiful dream...
he had the greatest voice in the world you will be missed my good sir my thoughts & prayers are with you & you family.
I cried so much when this man died. “No one sings like you anymore” Chris. Love you brother.
I cried in my car at work. Then got out too early and people asked me why I was crying. Which hurt almost as much.
Personalmente, la mejor version grabada de Black Hole Sun en acustico.
Foda de acreditar que perdemos esse cara tão cedo... Descanse em paz Crhis Cornell.

"In disguise AS no one knows"
I wish I could travel 4 years back, and have a talk with him
That vocal melody together with the poetry of the words... Such an amazing song.
And what a devastating loss. We miss you, Chris.
I could hear my 6 year old singing this in the tub, and I knew I had done something right. Thanks for the music Chris.
I fell in love with Soundgarden with their second album in 1989. I watched them climb to international superstardom. Cornell is one of the greatest vocalists of all time! That is irrefutable! RIP Chris! You are missed by everyone!
Wow. You must have been so thrilled. I miss him, too.
Such a beautiful soul, gone too soon. The voice of an angel.
Thinking about this was less than a month prior his death is frightening. May your soul RIP Chris, we love you.
Ive came back to this every year. I feel your pain truly I do and I may even join you soon enough my brother.
❤
One of the most genuinely beautiful souls ever to exist in music. I will be forever grateful for the gift he shared and left behind!!
Wish.we could have rescued this talented man.
RIP.
His eyes said it all. 😢
That riff of the guitar at beginning brought so much pain to my chest
His eyes, so eerie. Rest peacefully brother
He's a beautiful soul. When you have to cram a song like this into 4 minutes or less, you do all you can to make it happen. I love it.
The truth in the eyes, everything was clear.. Great man
I first heard this song around Halloween when I was little, the Melancholy music and his haunting voice just sets that sort of atmosphere for me. His (and Chesters) music take you places like no other music I can find out today. These guys are sorely missed.
He's so amazingly talented. His songs were moving & saved alot of us. He saved me after a break up. The first Audioslave album came out. Listened to it for months. If you're reading this you're not alone. Your heart may be broken but your mind is not. Take a day @ a time.
Having lost my beautiful boy to suicide....I ask that everyone take a,breath.....we will NEVER know, the depth of pain that leads a person to make that decision....please instead offer ❤kindness compassion ..support......

Im so sorry for your loss sweetheart
sorry for your loss. but sometimes there are other forces at work.
if it only was that easy... sorry for your loss... hopefully you and him are at a better place
Exactly one week ago, after multiple prior attempts, our son took his own life. And here I am...
Empty void...
Sending hugs. Please be kind to yourselves and one another.
Saw Soundgarden play at Lola Poloza back in the mid 90s it was awesome ! Rest in peace Chris Cornell!! You're surely missed here Brother!!!
I cant stop my tears my first time hearing this live ♥️🙌🏼 RIP Chris
I’m leaving this comment here to pay my respects to Chris Cornell, and I hope we can all do the same, may he rest in peace with the lord above ✝️🙏❤️
Man he was amazing.... the way he sing "Black hole sun!" in that high register is so crazy, almost sounds autotuned if I didn't already know how amazing of a singer he was. 👏👏
No one sings like you anymore Chris 🥺💔 I lost you the morning of my 18th birthday I’ll never forget you even though I blow out your candle and put you to bed, I’ll live and fall to pieces and suffer with your ghost, say hello 2 heaven Chris! And hug Layne for me!
Behind such a beautiful performance and a beautiful voice, such suffering and pain. God bless it.
This version is just amazing. So soft and powerful at the same time. Chris Cornell was a genius, may he rest in peace.
A part of the soul of many of the 90s kids died with him, a part that is now unreachable and irretrievable. May you keep coming into my dreams from time to time, Chris. Love you forever
The more he opens his mouth the greater he sounds!
No one sings like you anymore. RIP Chris
that's right
No one can sing like you anymore. 💔
I miss you, Chris.
no words really.... legend...epic....does not get much better than this. RIP Cornell. Love always brother.
Sometimes musicians use music to speak, sometimes music use musicians to speak
He said in another interview that he dreamed the whole song. And the next day he could play it just as it is which is the version I actually believe. He was a conduit for art and music to flow naturally through as he could do absolutely anything he desired with it.
It's ok, I kinda like when words don't make sense in songs, I think the depth of this song is musical. The words serve the atmosphere of it, they don't have a meaning per se but they do hold a mood
@@emmaphilo4049 You should try to read some poetry. Study it, better.
Kudos to the sound engineer, he took a great performance and captured it exquisitely.
Not many come to realise that
Chris you were so beautifully broken. Your music has got me through some hard times. I only wish someone could have gotten you through your hard times. R.I.P
He had a HAUNTING voice...a lot of pain, confusion and mystery in it
Haunting and otherworldly, something primal.
i feel the same, got to come across this musician where i feel similar, thought i share - terry his name is ua-cam.com/video/3idIi1uY_Go/v-deo.html
This version shows how good he really could sing.
The fact that he ended his life just 26 days after this performance is heartbreaking. Rest easy💔🙏🏾

The titanium vocals of chris Cornell
This song should have been called Goosebumps because I get them every time.
True but it's not a good title is it lol
with that logic, to me then it should have been called "boner"

I can’t stop crying.... he was amazing.
I love this song. One of the greatest of the 90's. R.I.P. Chris Cornell, voice of Soundgarden.
Dude. Remember when he died and all the other artists tried to cover his songs and nobody could even get close on the vocals. Unmatched vocal talent
It sounds like he's singing the blues. He must have been depressed but it's still pretty.
That's the beautiful thing about this song mate, pretty melody and the darkest of lyrics..
That’s the type of music I like
