Believe it or not, his voice makes a certain percentage of society's skin crawl. I'd be in that percentage. Second on the list would be the singer of Kings of Leon. There's this smoothness to their voices that is appalling. I suspect, however, that this smoothness is the precise reason you love his voice. Either way, to each their own.

My mom always had the biggest crush on him. For mother's day I surprised her with soundgarden tickets in Indianapolis. We went and had an amazing mother and son experience watching them live. 7 days later he ended his own life, we were completely heartbroken. Rest in peace chris ❤ thank you for that moment.

@@sherrysawyer6819 Had a few of those moments in life. Ones where I was able to meet icons and idols. More often than not, they let you down. This man, did not. Another who recently took his own life also, Neal Casal. Neal was honestly one of the most kind souls I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. Met him on tour 2012 with The Chris Robinson Brotherhood, and he invited myself and my kids to the shows he played in Ohio thereafter. Always had signed posters, and kind words. Sadly, those are the ones who dip out early, too often.

@@danerowe1258 sorry to hear of your troubles. As a depression sufferer who has gone through many cycles, several meds and years of therapy, I can empathize. Everyone is different and you may have to try various meds and therapies before you find something that is right for you. My piece of advice is simply to do something. I know that it gets way too easy to lay around in bed all day, but try to fight the urge, force your body upright and engage in some activity. Anything. Even if it's just to go to another room or walk down the hall. It sounds kind of dumb but in my experience, it's a necessary first step. Maybe tomorrow you can walk around the block, maybe next week you can ride your bike, fly a kite, I don't know. Build on the simplest of things, pretty much anything so that you're not just laying around being sad.
After a while, you'll be doing more and have less time to ruminate and be depressed.
I cannot understate the importance of contact with other people. As an introvert, this is difficult for me, but I've found that a good conversation can be a great distraction, as well as an effective therapeutic tool.
Anyway, you've reached out and got your meds going, that's a great step in the right direction.
There are all kinds of resources out there for us, don't be afraid to use them.
Please don't give up on yourself. We all deserve a chance to be happy, even if it doesn't feel like it now.

    In disguises no one knows
Hides the face, lies the snake
    The sun in my disgrace
    Boiling heat, summer stench
'Neath the black the sky looks dead
Call my name through the cream
And I'll hear you scream again
    Black hole sun
    Won't you come
    And wash away the rain
    Black hole sun
    Won't you come
Won't you come (won't you come)
    Stuttering, cold and damp
Steal the warm wind tired friend
Times are gone for honest men
And sometimes far too long for snakes
In my shoes, a walking sleep
And my youth I pray to keep
    Heaven sent hell away

    [Verse 1]
    In my eyes, indisposed
    In disguises no one knows
Hides the face, lies the snake
    The sun in my disgrace
    Boiling heat, summer stench
'Neath the black the sky looks dead
Call my name through the cream
And I'll hear you scream again

Black hole sun, won't you come?
Won't you come? Won't you come?

Steal the warm wind tired friend
Times are gone for honest men
And sometimes far too long for snakes
In my shoes, a walking sleep
And my youth I pray to keep

Always amazes me that Chris Cornell and the rest of the band kept saying this song had absolutely no meaning and that it was just a gibberish stream of words that ended up being catchy... one of them even laughed that fans liked it so much. "Of the song itself, Cornell said, “If you read the lyrics to the verses, it’s sort of surreal, esoteric word painting. It was written very quickly. It was stream of consciousness. I wasn’t trying to say anything specific. I ate some cottage cheese that turned, and I wrote those lyrics” he said of Black Hole Sun. “It’s just sort of a surreal dreamscape, a weird, play-with-the-title kind of song. Lyrically it’s probably the closest to me just playing with words for words’ sake, of anything I’ve written. I guess it worked for a lot of people who heard it, but I have no idea how you’d begin to take that one literally.”

I love this song. One of the greatest of the 90's. R.I.P. Chris Cornell, voice of Soundgarden.

Dude. Remember when he died and all the other artists tried to cover his songs and nobody could even get close on the vocals. Unmatched vocal talent

It sounds like he's singing the blues. He must have been depressed but it's still pretty.

That's the beautiful thing about this song mate, pretty melody and the darkest of lyrics..
