12 years ago I got sent to California State Prison for drug possession . When the bus pulled up to Delano State Prison and we were waiting at the electric fences to get cleared to come inside. I remember singing in my head this song especially the part when he said, “What the hell am I doing here. I don’t belong here.” The bus driver at the moment turned up the music on the radio and this song was playing. I knew right there and then that this was going to be my last time ever in prison. That was 12 years ago and I’m proud to say that I’ve been crime free ever since and clean and sober. My name is Jon G and I’m a very grateful recovering drug addict. Thank you for letting me share.

Radiohead as your first musical guest. To say "this aged well" is an understatement. I think I watched this when it was first broadcast, but uncertain.
what's interesting about 'creep' is that in the earlier performances thom uses all his strength to hold the high note at the climax of the song, you can see him struggling with this a bit, but every other time he did the scream more and more effortlessly. mind-blowing voice
His vocal range is off the charts. In my opinion if I had to pick only 2 singers that I thought were the best of the best in my lifetime hands down it would be Layne Staley and Thom Yorke.
It's so amazing to see Radiohead in such an early stage of their career. At this point, they still appear moldable and look slightly vulnerable, maybe unsure in some ways. I love this performance so much. This is a gem. It's crazy that it's the first performance on Conan's show too.. Stars aligned. Literally and figuratively.
90% of it probably. The whole song is very niche at first (prior to it becoming a popular mainstay song I mean), and his voice seems 'questionable' with cracks and whines here and there. But once he hits that note, you realize it's all very carefully deliberate and that he can really belt clear/melodic notes when he needs to and that changes your entire perception of what's going on.
I would have to say that the performance was sooo real, sooo devastating to the hearer... That as Conan approached Yorke at the end...he actually appeared frightened, shaken And I imagine some audience members were, also
This is the first time I’ve actually heard the original songwriters perform their song. This brought me to an entirely new level then i have been before listening to others renditions.

Although I made it through my youth relatively unscathed I remember the dread and apprehension I often felt and feeling like a "wierdo" or a creep is a perfectly natural response to a cultural system that at its root is very oppressive and conformist. Anyone else now thinking about during the writer's strike when Jordan, Aaron Bleyaert and other staff were playing "Creep" on Rockband, and Conan comes in with a real guitar and amp slung over his shoulder and completely outplays them, while blocking their view... and Jordan is on drums trying to look under Conan's leg to still drum accurately... with a bottle of Moet on the table next to him? If that's not proof that Jordan has always been Jordan, go back and watch that video (I think you can just type in "Conan writer's strike") and remember this was shortly before they even revealed Jordan for the first time... like, a couple of episodes before. That as Conan approached Yorke at the end...he actually appeared frightened, shaken
And I imagine some audience members were, also
Anyone else now thinking about during the writer's strike when Jordan, Aaron Bleyaert and other staff were playing "Creep" on Rockband, and Conan comes in with a real guitar and amp slung over his shoulder and completely outplays them, while blocking their view... and Jordan is on drums trying to look under Conan's leg to still drum accurately... with a bottle of Moet on the table next to him? If that's not proof that Jordan has always been Jordan, go back and watch that video (I think you can just type in "Conan writer's strike") and remember this was shortly before they even revealed Jordan for the first time... like, a couple of episodes before. I remember... I watched those shows live... I watch YOU live! Loves xx
I can't believe this masterpiece has been released more than 31 years ago... 😭 Still giving me so much freakin' chills!!! 🔥 🔥 🔥
1:22 looks like Johnny Greenwood's guitar killed him
31 years traveling around the world this magnificent presentation
Thom had the emo look down 15 years before the rest of the pop scene
Wow, this was really live, no play back. So cool to hear it different from the album version we heard millions of times.
It feels like "A Moon Shaped Pool" came out in 1993.
