  • A few minor imperfections but I was able to learn a few things through the process. I’m really happy overall with the end result being my first full vinyl wrap project that I’ve completed.
    I wrapped this 2013 Ford F-150 in Avery Dennison SW900-427-O Gloss Soft Red.
    In this video you’ll get progress updates through the week as I start at the hood, grille, bumper and work towards the back of the truck. Using a week vacation I began the project on a Saturday afternoon and wrapped up the project the following Saturday evening.

    I’m wanting to do my grill on my 2013 f150 because the clear coat is peeling. that’s why I watched this video but you didn’t show the process on that😅 I need guidance!

    • @TunersCanvas
      @TunersCanvas  2 роки тому

      Hey. Sorry. I didn’t get into any of the details for the grill.
      First step would be to scrape / scuff the flaking chrome so the vinyl has a solid surface to adhere to.
      From there I removed the center sections by releasing the tabs on the back side to wrap them independently before snapping back into the grill surround. Then of course wrapping the outside surround by itself.
      Overall I was pretty happy with how smoothly it went using that approach.

    Great vid and thanks for sharing! I have the same truck with some additions, fender flares, snug top, roof rack, light bar and have always wanted to give the truck a vinyl wrap.
    I'm now in a shop that will accommodate this sort of endeavor and you've inspired me to give it a shot. What were the most problematic areas that you came across with this job?
    Thanks again for your time and effort🤙

    • @TunersCanvas
      @TunersCanvas  Рік тому

      Hey. That’s way cool!
      I’d say the most challenging part of the wrap was the fender flares. Getting a good pull on the vinyl is ideal and without a couple of extra hands to help hold it in place it’s really tough to work with. Assuming it’s off the truck when being wrapped.
      Other than that it really was a pretty straightforward wrap, pulling to the corners and working the body lines.

      @aridlifestyles Рік тому

      @@TunersCanvas Roger that! I think I'll go ahead and pull them off via that advice since mine are aftermarket and are oversized to accommodate the wheel offset.

      Dang. Not intentional. I must have edited through that slow area to catch more of the overall transformation. As you’re aware, that area of the cab is really tedious and takes time, slowly working down between the box.
      I didn’t do so, but have considered taking the bolts out of the bottom of the box and lifting it back a foot or so to give nice access to work the vinyl in place. Worth a thought if applicable.

    I’m wanting to vinyl wrap my from bumper on my 2012 f150 what size should I get I also wanna wrap my rear bumper , if you wouldn’t mind helping me I’m looking at 5 x10 do you think that will be enough?

    • @TunersCanvas
      @TunersCanvas  2 роки тому +1

      Hey, cool to hear you’re looking to tackle it yourself. Have you worked with vinyl at all before?
      Seems to me 5x10 should work just fine. The rear bumper has the center plastic so it’s only the outside corners that will consume material. You will also be able to cut the 5’ width down the center and suffice with 2 sections of 30”x10’ which should be plenty for front and rear.
      Some take aways from this project would say remove the valance above the front bumper to provide more room to work. It was tedious trying to get the top edge of the bumper tucked in between the bumper and valance.
      Pulling a fair amount of tension from the center around the sides will create horizontal slack that can be directed over the top and below the bottom of the bumper. I can share a short video describing that detail if you need a visual.
      Connect with any questions!

    I have a 2013 f150. You made this look relatively easy. How hard do you think this would be to attempt as a first timer?

    • @TunersCanvas
      @TunersCanvas  Рік тому +1

      I hadn’t completed a full project before prior to the F150, but I had worked a little with vinyl in small simple panels. There is a lot of good content on UA-cam regarding vinyl techniques and with a quality product, it can be user friendly with the right approach.
      You’ll find some areas are tricky that need to be planned and other areas straightforward. Best way to know is give it a try!

      @TunersCanvas  Рік тому

      Makes sense. Everyone installs differently. Being one of my first wrap projects I didn’t mind having less objects to work around, not to mention the handles were getting replaced with fresh black ones so they were coming off anyway.

    Hopefully you can answer since I don’t know much about vinyl wrap at all.
    How much would it take to wrap bumpers , door handles , mirrors and grille
    Ford f150 2024
    Thank you

    • @TunersCanvas
      @TunersCanvas  11 місяців тому

      A quick estimation would be a 5x15 piece of vinyl.
      Take a measurement from wheel to wheel around the front to determine distance to cover front bumper, and add an extra foot.
      From there, measure the width of the grille and add an extra foot as well.
      Total vinyl to order would the total of both measurements.
      Since the vinyl is 60in wide, you can split that into two 30” pieces at the length measured to achieve both front and rear bumpers. The handles and mirrors would be covered with left over vinyl after the grille.
      Hope that helps.

    • @TunersCanvas
      @TunersCanvas  Рік тому

      That will look stealth, especially if decide to offset with black accents. I ordered a full 75’ roll for this project and ended up with some leftover, but not a significant amount. Maybe 10’ or less, which would come in handy should a panel need to be replaced at some point either during install or later.

      @TunersCanvas  Рік тому

      Dang. Sorry I didn’t get that detail of the process. It is pretty easy though.
      Once the assembly has been removed from the truck, all you have to do is release some tabs on the back side to get the three center sections out.
      Wrap those sections separate and snap back in after wrapping the full surround.
      Hope that helps.

      I ordered a full 75’ roll of vinyl for this truck. There was a small amount left after I completed that would have worked for the back of cab if the box was removed, however in this case we didn’t go that route.

      @@TunersCanvas Im think about color matching my bumpers, how does the vinyl respond to water pressure or automatic car washes

    • @TunersCanvas
      @TunersCanvas  2 роки тому

      @@MrLaker9900 Definitely like the look of color matched bumpers. The least chrome the better in my opinion.
      Vinyl wrap is safe through touch less car washes. The vulnerable spots could be the corners where most of the tension often ends up if overstretched during install.

      What size did u use for the front bumber

    • @TunersCanvas
      @TunersCanvas  2 роки тому +1

      @@rigoenriquez6433 Hard to recall. Since I wrapped the entire truck it was a full 25 yard roll that I ordered. Best bet would be to measure the distance from the drivers side around the front to the passenger side to get an idea on length needed. Be sure to add a little extra on each side.
      The vinyl is generally 60” wide so if the measurement is let’s say roughly 9 feet around the front, you would order a 5’x9’ piece of vinyl.
      Then, the 60” can be cut into two 30”x ( your length ) pieces that will cover the front and rear bumpers.
