Guard-point tip: you can draw your weapon from a sheathed position directly into a guard-point by pressing R2, similar to SnS and other shield weapons. Normally it will draw weapon into axe mode, similar to R2 + triangle in sword mode which has the quickest guard-point access. You can get a better feel for guard-points with the Dante's Devil Sword CB, it makes your character glow red during guard-point animations.

Ely abundo It's in the previous game, Monster Hunter Generation in NDS. In the game there are hunting styles and hunting arts. Hunting style are the thing that determine how many arts you can use, and each will differ in movesets for the same weapon. For CB, there was a hunting art that will add your phials to 9. This is activated by a pushing a button on the touch screen when the gauge is filled. Once activated, the gauge will deplete overtime and end the art. To refill, you have to attack or defend successfully. It's pretty OP, but timing is hard because of the slow animation when activating the art.
ultra was a waste of time in mhgen cause it did like no damage. mhgen cb was pretty much just a worse gs. with you trying to snipe the weak point with the super.

Additional tip: condensed elemental discharge (reload + hold triangle) can be used to change attack direction 180 degrees mid-combo. One important thing about CB is that it can be hard to change direction you are facing mid-combo, even with slide slash. With this you can CED to face monster, backwards slide slash, shield thrust, then SAED all in one combo.
First time I tried the charged blade I didn’t like it and stopped using it for a while. Then I watched a video and gave it another try and have basically only used that weapon since.
@@childpeanut5095 I disliked it a lot in this game at the beginning because the monster AI wasn't as easy to predict, so I couldn't get head snipes like in 4U. I don't really agree with the use of slugger. Maybe in solo it might be ok, you might get an extra stun out of it. But in multiplayer the monsters tolerance will increase so quickly after a stun or two. Better to just go damage and kill the monster instead of trying to stun it an extra time dragging the fight out. Especially after they lowered the stun value of the SAED. Or go quality of life/defensive instead of slugger. Especially if your not a pro at the game, your gonna get hit so defensive skills are a good option. Still a great video though! @@arthuralmeida6049 but it's even worse for the up close/melee weapons. You are in front of the monster giving you less time to react to a monsters attack and melee weapons have long animations which in a monster can easily interrupt with a big move. With ranged weapons such as LBG/HBG and bow, you are given time to react since you arent up close to the monster and the only long animation with the bow is its dragon piercer and you only use dragon piercer whenever its super safe to do it. Even if you miss a shot, the animation of a shot is so short you can just immediately dodge after it.
DBS was trash, saw every episode until the last. The scripts were to obvious in telling you what was clearly happening from the fight like I’m hearing it from a radio.
The only change i would say is that if you're using an element phial, don't use Artillery or Slugger, as they don't affect element phial bursts. Instead, use the appropriate elemental damage skill.
elemental phial have a really smaller damage modifier than impact phial and have a way big AoE, so less damage that hit a large area = so much waste of dps. affinity dosen't affect phial damage, they can't crit. the axe attack in SAED can crit however.
@@GutsZB its good damage, the move itself the impact dmg on top of the sword's dmg is just a small bonus that shouldn't be the main thing you should do it for

Great info on the guard point.
just say *BEGONE THOTS!* 100% work on me xD
This was my first weapon when I started to play and after 200 hours and many mistakes and moments of finding out new details I learned the weapon really well now I went for the bow second best weapon in my opinion because after the 100 hours I DID TEST OUT MANY IF NOT ALL WEAPONS but the bow and the charge blade are the most fun/ difficult to learn
I'm not sure if its just me but the bow has to be one of the easiest weapons to use.
@@nicolo7789 nah bow is the hardest weapon to play because if you miss you are probably dead, unless you give up some damage for health boost
I just started this game a while ago and every time I'm charging my phials, shield, and sword I can attest I too hear the ultra instinct theme
I didn't realize this was a tds video until after it started. 😂
Really well explained video. Thanks for sharing.
The only change i would say is that if you're using an element phial, don't use Artillery or Slugger, as they don't affect element phial bursts. Instead, use the appropriate elemental damage skill.
Focus +2 or +3 is useful as well. It dramatically increase the speed to gain files. Directly increase the frequency of Ultra.
so, for charge blade builds I should prioritize raw damage skills?? My build right now has my crit maxed, but I had no idea phial damage can't crit :(
really great video bro!
Damage number calculation would be sick. Super interested in how elemental damage and affinity and everything else factor into those numbers.
Affinity does not effect SAED
elemental phial have a really smaller damage modifier than impact phial and have a way big AoE, so less damage that hit a large area = so much waste of dps.
affinity dosen't affect phial damage, they can't crit. the axe attack in SAED can crit however.
I didn't realise you could store charge in the sword as well!
@@GutsZB its good damage, the move itself
the impact dmg on top of the sword's dmg is just a small bonus that shouldn't be the main thing you should do it for
Awesome video! Thanks a bunch!
Thanks I’m in the training area running drills I knew most of this but it still good to have another perspective I didn’t utilize the directional and o as much as I should I knew about the amazing guard points and the rest! Thank you I’m gonna be good with every weapon
I am a CB Main and I never used some moves. It helps to be patient. The charge blade unveils its secrets over time.
Im a CB main to and though out the entire game mhw, I sometimes use triangle and mostly use circle for my attack and i just found out there are other and better moves for CB
Your Palico name aged like wine
Good vid, might be worth mentioning that some players like putting in a point or two of focus to charge your phials faster to ultra more often.
I was able to properly use CB because of this vid. Right now Im trying to find a new decent cb set for master rank
Also, I love your Gone Wrong series 💖💖💖
Yeah, by the way, Guard Up was right. There's the Shield Jewel 2 which adds Guard Up so you can have it without the Uragaan bonus. Great vid, keep it up!
Man I am not balzy enough to stand and attack head on with a monster. That timing has to be on point!
Had a similar armor set but with the nergigante greaves and challenger charm, seems artillery is a lot more usefull. Thank you for your help :)
Luke Ario I didn’t think artillery was too good till I tried it out, each phial explosion with the Diablos cb did 120 dmg to a tempered Teostra and I almost shit myself.
My two favorite things are in this video, charge blade and dragon ball music
I didn't really liked that weapon, but now...GOD I want to use it so much ! It looks so powerful ! I just made one !
Since that day, Charge Blade is my fav weapon, I only use it, I made like more than 1000 quests with it !
I don't know how I was able to play MHFU during years and years without Charge Blade...(yeah I know CB wasn't in MHFU, but I was a longsword main and now I don't use it anymore lol,or very rarely)
And I was never interested by speedruns, but I've seen so many CB speedruns that I even tried to speedrun !
Well thanks, thanks to you I fell in love with Charge Blade after seeing this vid ;)
Hell yeah
