Here’s me and Thomas Lang performing ‘Triggered’ - probably the most daring and drum focused song towards my solo album ‘Steezy’. You can find ‘Triggered’ on all major streaming platforms now! 🤘🏻
The goal here was to compose two unique drum parts that interlock perfectly when played together. With this in mind, it was a real challenge to create a piece that could host this kind of drum part without the song feeling imbalanced or overloaded. A lot of work went into the preparation of this one, but it was so awesome doing something different and working with Thomas - hopefully you guys enjoy it too! 🥳
As per usual, there are no triggers or samples used in any way AT ALL in the production of this track, all audio and video was recorded in one take (no miming), nothing has been snapped to grid, and all of the above applies to both me and Thomas 👊🏻 I personally LOVE how you can hear the difference between the two kits, it’s like a direct comparison between DW’s wooden and metal drums!

Angel, saw you come through Memphis, a few years back @ the Hi Tone. It was impressive to say the least. Even though it was one of the smallest crowds I’ve been apart of at a show, it was one of the best sounding shows I’ve seen. It’s everybody who didn’t attend that lost out. You need to watch it multiple times to realize how amazing and skilled this really is. They even split bass drum blasts between two people, as well as one drummer playing the evens and one the odds of 16ths hits on cymbals.
The level of skill needed to do this is unbelievable. That precision is insane. Congrats to both players, this is truly next level

Can’t believe this doesn’t have millions of views.
I just want you all to notice the sheer ease at which Lang is playing those double bass patterns. His heels never get more than an inch above the footboard, while Chris is doing tip toe hip flexers and stomping that shit to get the same volume, speed, and power Lang gets from his shin muscles.
Two very different styles of double bass. And it’s not a knock on Turner, cause Lang is literally one of the best drummers whose ever lived. It’s just interesting to see the difference between two drummers playing the same beats, and their differing techniques.
Lang is just a joy to watch, never seems to be straining or stuttering. It’s all very fluid and natural.
If you don’t know Langs work, you should go check out some solos he does, specifically with the insane pedal work... drumming a beat with his hands while he plays a row of percussive instruments connected to like 9 pedals. It’s wild.
Seen Lang close up in clinic..the power is totally ridiculous..he is unmatched is many of drummings most coveted categories

I’ve been watching Thomas playing inside double bass stuff for over a decade now, and I’ve never heard it in a context that actually approached his capabilities... so this was a fucking treat.
Also, you guys actually played dual drummers with two drummers in mind. Most times I see 2 drummers together, they both play the exact same shit and it is pointless. Or at best one will play an up beat and the other plays down beat. But you and Thomas are like finishing each others fills and shit. That was pretty nifty.
And as a drummer myself, who also plays my kit with a low profile, I appreciate your ergonomic set up.

Chris’ drumming wasn’t always my favorite style, but over the last couple of years, I’ve grown to like it more. There’s no denying that he’s an absolute beast, but I think he earned even more respect from me by letting the humanness come back to music. Especially to the prog/technical metal genre. Its crazy because he is so solid, it still sounds like he’s snapped to a grid, but I love that he’s really pushing to not have everything so overdone and his goal is to really have everything raw and organic. It makes the song have a whole other element to it. It’s such a cool concept to see and album like this with world class drummers. You see it all the time with guitarists and what not, but not really with drummers in this kind of genre. Also, super cool that is his song, but he gave Thomas space at the end of the song. Can you tell that I’m excited about this project? lol
