Can we talk about how the video puts the icing on the cake, making this a masterpiece? The comfortable body language of them jamming in the godly mansion with no focus on anything but the feeling in the room is transcending. I’m no musician, I’m a videographer, but I know this is the same feeling you get when everything goes right as music is being played in the room
_"Can we talk about how the video puts the icing on the cake, making this a masterpiece?"_ In principle, sure, I'd love to, but I got a lump in my throat and the talking part is a bit hard. Can we just agree that you talk and I nod? ;) You're doing a great job :) Okay, forget it I'll talk. Yes, exactly. And I'm not a videographer but a musician and physics enthusiast and I love to dance and when I look at a video like this one I can't help but see all of it come together. To me it's all music, the visuals, the passion, the location, the angles, the clothing changes and choices. This is what my mind does when I sit in the sun and see a butterfly hopping from flower to flower, so I might be a bit weird, but really, rhythm is everywhere, from the light waves to the neutrons and the moving air and everything is music in that sense and we all dance to the tunes of the universe.
Yea I’m over here drumming and like whoa that drop in the film after his epic fill on the toms was 1 hell of a lick! Seen them twice in venues they don’t move a lot and now tickets are like $$ but still worth it
Yes music satisfies a language most didn’t know how to speak! However all the senses play into our experiences and memories are tied to that so that’s why these things make us have frisson. I think visually the videographers knew how to clip their music well to fit their following and also how to portray maybe time signatures or dynamic ques to music vs Visual cues 🎉 I was missing the instrumental genres in main stream but now this is pop??
Polyphia has a keen talent on making riffs/patterns that are super energetic / frenetic sounding, but then when you combine everything together it becomes super chill.
The best part about polyphia is their lack of concern for "convention." They take the best parts of some aspects of genres (like the trap bass and percussion) and fuse it with very technical guitar, and then mix in break downs and smooth bridge transitions. Tim is a genius, Scottie is a genius. These guys have a distinct sound that no one else quite has. Love this band from the moment I heard the first song.

@@brandonmoser4247 I didn’t realize you had an overwhelming galaxy brain that you could overlook how artfully beautiful the melody is. Not to mention the production team really made sure to capture every aspect of the playing, it just flows. I didn’t realize I couldn’t enjoy something without being chastised, lol. Somehow I am getting roasted for saying I enjoyed that the melody was flowing in a way that helps you visualize something. Have you ever heard of, “you can smell this picture” or “you can taste this smell” because things like this trigger thoughts in your brain and accesses memories. Maybe it’s just me? I dunno… but it seems 82 other people had the same thoughts.
Man, this is pure genius. The way you guys blend insane technical skill with such smooth, chill vibes is unreal. Every time I listen, I catch something new in the playing-it’s like a journey every time. Props to Polyphia for always pushing boundaries and making music that hits different. THIS IS MODERN MUSIC RIGHT THERE!!
So yea, this is today's "Guitar Trio" vibe with prog/trap/drum crrazyness that is going to send Polyphia into a whole new world and fanbasae is what I think!
Part of what's I find satisfying about Polyphia's music is that, despite all the technical wildness and flourishes, the melody is always there running under the surface of it all. It never loses track of itself or places all the technical stuff above the melody itself, which keeps it feeling clean.
I saw a few guitar videos lately and heard this style by other players and heard this band named as the inspiration. What they're doing is very technical and difficult, but I'm not a big fan. It basically sounds like: Dipadipadipadipadum Struuum Struuum StrumStrum Strum Dipa doopa pingpongping Strum dipadoopa Strump Pling... To me it lacks soul and fails to take me anywhere. Here's what I mean. Recently, I read a review of Hendrix's Machine Gun performance at the Fillmore that described his enormous talent so well. It said, "other guitarists play the guitar, Hendrix played a war." Eddie Van Halen played a volcano that shook the guitar world. His band was Rock 'n Roll sexual overdrive driven by Eddie and the band's incredible atom bomb sound. That's what I'm talkin'bout. I have eclectic taste too, from classical, to blues, jazz, country, rock, rap, anything that suits my ear. It doesn't have to be heavy. This Polyphia thing is cute little melodies and runs routinely interrupted with technical flourishes that sometimes seem to have no purpose other than to show off whilst ruining the flow of the song. It's all over the fretboard, difficult as all get-out, but doesn't really go anywhere. I'd much rather listen to a far less studied Blitzkrieg Bop because you know the Ramones mean business. Anyways, that's my opinion. P.S. I've seen some good players that post a buncha short li'l bits of covers and orig's. Why not full songs and compositions? Is it a copyright thing? Li'l bits gets old quick.
@@howdy1487I personally love all the parts. Fast or slow or weird. Keeps it very varied and unique. @@derpderpin1568 Far from it, bass players have all the power people just don't know it. We have the power to make or break the rest of the band sounding in key. Itll be good don't get me wrong, but its not uncommon for musicians to have written stuff ages ago that are finally tracked and then released years later. This is a 12 minute song packed in to three and half minutes So many musical ideas and sounds yet it feels laid back and coherent Three and half minutes that feels like an eternity yet breezes by A musical time warp
That is exactly what I love about this song. Too many instrumental songs get boring fast because they are 8 minute plus epics. This beauty is the length of a pop song with the melodies of a symphony. Not usually my thing but hot damn these boys have really captured a new direction in music all for themselves.

Yeah it's really interesting cause it would also work with a complex high brow approach. But this heavy pocket approach is such a vibe and makes it all feel contemporary.
Yall need to stop with this. Each and every single one of the band members deserves equal credit. It's not a band without teamwork.
Clay has such a killer presence with that bass. Very unique, incredible vibe like dude’s in his own world on stage.
its incredible because he has such a goofy personality in their content outside of music, then he picks up the bass, enters the zone and becomes an entirely different person

_"Can we talk about how the video puts the icing on the cake, making this a masterpiece?"_
In principle, sure, I'd love to, but I got a lump in my throat and the talking part is a bit hard.
I liked the video till the end. The close up of the painting was bleh. Meaning no disrespect with these words, just my observation.

The best part about polyphia is their lack of concern for "convention." They take the best parts of some aspects of genres (like the trap bass and percussion) and fuse it with very technical guitar, and then mix in break downs and smooth bridge transitions. EY ALRIGHT
Not to mention the Jazz vocabulary being used; this is going to be absolutely fantastic!
Geebs!!!!
Got a lot of respect for a lot of bands. I’m a musician myself. But these guys are straight up kings. Their musical talent is legendary.
It basically sounds like:
Dipadipadipadipadum
Struuum Struuum StrumStrum Strum
Dipa doopa pingpongping
Strum
dipadoopa
Strump
Pling...
