We share what a ceramic coating is, how it works, how to prepare the surface for it, and tips to ensure you get the best, longest-lasting results from the ceramic coating you put on your wheels. We applied CarPro Dlux Wheel Ceramic Coating.
This video shows the steps of cleaning and preparing the wheel, plus applying the coating. We're doing the wheels of an 11 year old, 200,000 km vehicle. This car never had the wheels removed and cleaned properly before. It's quite a transformation.

If you do the ceramic coating, then get new tires and so rebalanced, will there be any issues with new wheel weights adhering to where the coating is?
Possibly, really depends on what the tire shop will use to clean the area first and how good the ceramic coating that was used is. If you can get the new tires and balancing done first, then prep and ceramic coat.
I actually just bought this very car that they detailed. Amazing work. It literally looks showroom quality. After seeing this result in person, I do have another Cayenne that needs to be done , called for a quote but nobody bothered calling back to arrange it or follow up. Disappointing

What steps for the prepping would I need to take if my wheels are brand new? I got them mounted and balanced and they have only been driven for 3 weeks. Would just a regular wash and car pro eraser be enough or will I have to use iron x, tar remover, and clay bar as well ?
A wash and decon, then final eraser wipe down should be enough.

Yes you can use clay or chemicals to decon(iron and tar remover) or both chemical and follow-up with clay if needed as outlined in the video.
Do I have to do the same if my wheels are brand new out of the box?
No, if the wheels have never been mounted and you are completely happy that they are clean, then you can do a final wipe down with CarPro Eraser then apply CarPro DLux.
What's the prepping/cleaning process for brand new CHROME wheels?
If the wheels have been used on the car then you will need to follow the appropriate steps in the video that suits your own case. If the wheels have never been used at all then wash with a wheel cleaner, dry, wipe down with CarPro Eraser and you can follow the steps on applying CarPro Dlux.

Why is it so common for you "detailers" to show only how the product is used, but NEVER do a follow up as to how well it actually worked? I mean how about a follow up after 1 or 2 weeks of driving? How does it look then and how easy is to clean?
We will add that to our video to do list for upcoming projects.
Do it before they even go on the car
Yes if you can that makes it easier off the start, 1 to 2 years after that you would have to do most of what we outlined in our video to reapply the ceramic again.

This was a 10 year old rim that had never been removed and properly cleaned before, a pretty dramatic change and the owner was blown away.
